This movie was so kool because for 1 thing, I think a good argument could be made that it was the predecessor to the overall concept behind the Street Fighter series of games. And the other really kick ass thing about this movie was the fact that Frank Dukes (or Dux, or whatever,) was a actual real life dude. I mean this isn't pure fiction. There really was a guy from the U.S. military who went over to China and fought in an international blood sport tournament. I mean how fuking baddaz is that?

As a kid who grew up in the San Fernando Valley(Los Angeles) back in the mid to late 80's this movie and the Karate Kid(Part I) was a part of my childhood and pretty much every other kid's childhood. It turns out that the real Frank Dux was actually from the valley also (Woodland Hills)...my old neighborhood. Too bad Frank Dux was a fraud...the only kumite he fought in was the one in his head. Regardless of how cheesy this movie is I still love it. Man I wish i was it was the 1980's again
