  • "ah these are the good old days" get such fucking massive chills when he sings that at the end. there's so much feel in his voice.

  • интересно, а тут все русские комментарии будут переводить? :D

  • I just hope that guy found some towels

  • @LC6046 yuck yuck

  • I've just researched this video after reading Pete's book: Last of the Rock Romantics. Apparently he carved a cross into his chest backstage and reappeared dripping with blood?

  • pete smashed his guitar like a fucking girl

  • Пит унылый дибил тут, бедный Карл он такой классный и профессиональный

  • google translation: "Pete dull fuck here, poor Charles, he so cool and professional"

  • @WITM7 Если бы я захотела это сделать-я бы сделала это сама

  • the person is now saying that if they had wanted their post translated into English, they would have done it themselves

  • @WITM7 loooooool

  • @Tinkwik Lmao you idiot.

  • first i thought ... yeahh ! that's punk ,but then .. i cry :(

  • Sad to see for sure. Did Peter throw something at Carl when he came back out? I see somethign fly by... Glad those two are coming around. Two strong front men that made GREAT music together. I think they were miserable w/eachother for a while but twice as miserable without eachother. Growing up and realizing what they created together. Hope we get lots more of them in the years to come!

  • @bevyk777 another sad thing... /watch?v=huJs-xS8wg4 4:30 Kurt Cobain... it's creepy and sad...

  • @gNer0in Hi - Wow... you aren't kidding! I just watched it. That all says so much of what ended up ultimately happening doesn't it?... sad indeed.

  • it's one of the saddest things i've ever seen... Those emotions, this love & fury at the same time. "can't stand me now". It's all about how drugs can ruin your life and your friendship.

But now, there's Time For Heroes once again! Reading & Leeds'10! Up the Albion!

  • pete used to fuck up durin songs, play slower, then fuck off for a pipe or two, come back and fire up too fast. boring as fuck after the tenth time . now he's an ex fashion model and his songs only relate to pampered celebrities. it was the same with the clash - the magic only worked as a group, not as individuals

  • to be at that gig would be a dream

  • At least he apologized lol.

  • pete runs like napoleon dynamite :L

  • 0:19 look at carl, he looks at pete-i saw an interview with carl that said that pete thort he looked at him funny so he ran off stage...its becuz 4 them it mustve been so difficult to play 2gether. Very sad times =[

  • "(...)Biggles sang 'can't stand you now' with such conviction it was enough to send me so far over the edge I could see the wizadry of freckles on the back of my back's back"

    (Peter's post from may 2004)

  • I did not understand what you said. Could you explain again please? :(

  • @123neil074 yes, you're right, but pete said, that carlos looked at him in a way that he suddenly thought he can't do this right know, so he ran away...i don't know if i understood it the right way, but it was something like this

  • ehhe, poor carl

  • did he just smash up a gibson es-335 , could have given it to me lol

  • i'm sorry but that is an insult and a half, while ya at it why dont ya go fuck the kooks

  • this is when he ran off stage and slashed open his chest. reading about that broke my heart.

  • reminds me of a modern day Kurt Cobain in some ways

  • yeh i think he is just not quite as successful world wide

  • hahaa the hoosiers hahaa how old are u? 5...6, dont bother comenting back or sending a msg i dont care wot uv got to say, im not getting in to any discussion with u people, just listen to some beatles an grow up an off the hoosiers. haha the hoosiers haha

  • well carl rocks..:P

  • i dont listen to any indie music, prick...i listen to 60s/70s music like velvet underground/beatles/new york dolls etc. never even heard of 'hossiers'. you know fuck all about being in a band anyway.

  • which books did ya read mate? i want to get to a bit of a reading too.

  • Comment removed

  • i would have thrown him out my band if i was carl.

  • ye and then youd have no songs lol

  • funny you shud say that...i do write songs.

  • same but none like petes lol

  • if you think like that, they never will be as good/better.

  • he did kick him out of the band though ?

  • Anybody else think that Pete runs a bit like Napoleon Dynamite? lol

  • hahahaaaa. i totally agree! love pete and his erratic run.

  • Haha omg

    exactly what i was thinking

  • paranoia,

and so many people love him......

dirt bags users an hangers on,

people helping to destroy him.......and an albion dream.

see there is no more, only one libertine.....

now just arcadians, fighting against the scene.......

that book last of the rock romantics by the way is the best book you will ever read if u decide to, an that is not in no way a biest opinion.....no bull shit in there, just facts emotion, reality and music.....bit of pain an love too.

  • He is out of it!

  • the line i'm still in love with you' must cushion it a bit though...

through this bit might not be related to the main topic of the song lol

  • I wonder if the guitar hit anybody!!

well, prob not, seen as it would have been a big headline and that.

it would have gone into the bit at the front where the security guards are.

  • I really feel sorry for them.

You see how intellegent Pete is, especially on that video where he is queueing up for the Oasis album, and how he could have had it so much better.

He has ruined his chances of being taken seriously by the general public, so they only have a cult following because most people will think-the libertines! not listining to them-not with that berk!

    But i love them though!

Off to see Pete in Leeds in March.

    Can't wait!

  • that must have been awful!

being so paranoid and everything, and you can really feel it when he goes up to the same mic and sings the line looking straight at Carl.

  • they don't have the word 'strop' in America?

  • Nope. We don't have a lot of words. Strop is one of them, but try asking an American about the lyrics to 'What A Waster'. We don't have waster, bob, spiv, or divvy out here. Love the Libs and Pete either way! The music is universal :-)

  • Carl said he did it cuz pete sed tht carl looked at him funny while singing it...

  • lmao is this the one carl was on about? "said i looked at him funny and run out down the high street" haha

  • you can see that pete was so upset... i think he must've just realised what the lyrics were saying and the inevitable...

  • strop =

  • you can see the look he gives pete. Not to mention the whole theme of CSMN and many other libs tunes that represent the thin ice that the bands and their relationships were on.

  • i love the way he said you cant stand me now to carl before he left

  • hahaha yeah,

    you can see Carl look..

and then pete looked back at Carl..

and then he smashed his guitar up haha.

  • Anyone who likes The Libetines should seriously go and listen to a band called The Cribs! Check em out on Youtube!

  • just watching an interview where they talk about this gig. aparently pete thought carl looked a thim funny, and seeing as the song was "cant stand me now" that was it.

  • Can you give me a link to the interview please? :)

  • yeah, i'd love the link.

  • "ya got any towels up 'ere?"

  • HEYYY what means " a bit of a strop" ??

    Thanks !!

  • nothing. He said "I was a bit distraught, you know what I mean."

  • no he said "i had a bit of a strop", a british word meaning tantrum

  • It's like having a tantrum, sulking, bad mood, etc.

  • You said everything I feel about this video. so raw and painful to watch, and yet. Peter comes back to apologize poor Carlos left to keep playing through. Their songs are really honest reflections of their lives. Compelling to see such emotional honesty

  • What more can you ask for when you go to a gig, true, honest feelings. Ya it's sad, but it's also brilliant because it's so raw and in your face. One more reason I like Pete, he never hides how he really feels. I love Carl as well because he sort always keeps it together. That's why they fit so well, until of course it all spilled over.

  • oh dear. its a shame pete got to this level really cos the libertines are pretty dang good personally

  • FUCK OFF....THE LIBERTINES RULE

  • hahah grow up.

  • this's my favourite libertines video. he went outside and cut himself up to release his pain.

    unbeleivable.

  • You can understand his reaction.

They're both singing their hearts out about how they feel and Pete just thinks Carl gives him a strange look.

Great that he comes back. :]

  • That's heartbreaking on both their parts. Poor Peter, he thought Carl looked at him funny.

  • ..If pete gave up the drugs, the libs could have continued for longer, he was a bit attention seeking and selfishh! :(

  • shut up, they were all on drugs.

  • were they? i only ever hear about pete doing drugs, + i heard that they kicked him out of the band because of it?!

  • pete just took it too farr that's all.

    all bands are on drugs.

  • If the band were bigger before they'd be forgiven.

  • No, he's an addict you moron.

  • POOR CARL Barat!!!!!!

pete was obviously paranoid from his notorious drug taking, therefore he imagined Carl was looking at him funny...poor carl

  • that's fucking heartbreaking

  • you're right. when he goes right up to carls face and says "you cant stand me now" :(

  • Yeah!! never seen anything that honest on stage before :(

  • wats da second song?

  • Was It Cause Pete Said That When Carl Was Singing Cant Stand Me now He Sang It With Too Much Feeling Towards Pete?

  • you can see when he goes up to carl after he smashes his guitar and say you cant stand me now how much he means it

  • he actually runs like napaleon dynamite its amazing

  • hahaha yh

  • lmao exactly what i thought

  • bet he just needed piss! haha

  • I'm sure Carl says "thank you Brixton"

    if anyone was curious.

  • haha well it was at brixton academy

  • fuck for ever

  • Good news on DPT site. Finally.

  • They BOTH wrote the songs. Get your facts straight before commenting.

  • exactly.

  • I completely agree, carl is nothing without pete. Together they are amazing!

  • All their best songs are written by both of them.

  • thats quality.

i love pete. he's only human after all

  • Thats true rock n' roll :-0

  • apparently it was because carl looked at him in a funny way.

  • Yeah he said that on seven ages of rock

  • if u read the nme interview carl doesnt exactly deny it though.

  • quite sad to see someone in that state and is amazing that carl did put up with him for so long, having said that if ur gunna smash a guitar, thats the way to do it lol

    xx

  • What is the song Carl is singing when Pete comes back?

  • good old days I think

  • thanks :)

  • is the show where he went into the street from a back alley and he slashed his chest?

  • yeah, was there, last show of the tour at brixton ... he was gone for about 3 songs and then returned with his chest slashed up (it was a little scary) ... weird thing was he seemed fine after, was dropping cans of beer from the dresing room window

  • Ah, Carl really did well without him...

  • blatently a legendry piece of footage. Pete's a fuckin state though. Brixton Academy i reckon.

  • i read this in one of the books.

pete said he felt like carl meant it towards pete as in the lyrics and he got angry about it. hence the rage.

  • i read it too

  • i was there...first time i saw libs/pete...

  • You are a moron...

  • Peter is the biggest there! It is a genius of the music to pezar his relationship with drugs! But .. I hope that will go ahead and will continue playing a lot better! Sun and idol! Peter endurance!

  • I'm annoyed to see comments like "haha i love it" "legend Pete". It was very dangerous for someone losing control like this(and I felt sorry for the guitar) If we really love Pete, we should not say these kinda things, which is equivalent to "Go Pete we like you taking drugs because it's cool!"

  • oh god! it looked like a es-335 :O

  • They were doin a soundboard recordin of this as well, got some songs from it on the likely lads ep. Might of got the whole gig if pete hadn't of ran off!

  • the boys talked about this on an interview...apparently pete thought carl looked at him funny (i suppose it is quite a tense song) and ran off down the high street!

  • i just like the way he keeps on singing his chorus parts before going..

  • i just laughed out loud at that last comment.

  • haha. When I saw your comment I thought "what does he mean ?" and then I read " he runs like napoleon dynamite" and I just spit tea over my room.foockin great ;)

  • Ha! no messing around - thats how you break a guitar!

Anyone else notice that Pete runs like a girl tho...

  • Also detailed in the book "Pete Doherty - Last of the Rock Romantics" by Alex Hannaford, which I recommend. It cuts thru the tabloid lies and is endorsed (via forward) by mum JackieD. NOT SPAM--GREAT READ!!

  • This is legendary-I cannot believe one of you Libs got this & posted it here! Thanks! For those that don't get this, it's OK. Greatness does not let the status quo dictate. Throughout history, great people have paid for it, by spending time in the establishments penal system. Mandela, Lenin, Ghandi, Voltaire, Hemingway, the Marquis de Sade, Paul McCartney (just a few) So haters, you are relegated to revel in your mediocrity. You are cursed with being average--AT BEST.

  • i love you

  • bravo

  • yer

  • Long live the libertines

  • There is never an excuse for vandalism :O|

  • hahah pete wat a legend lol

  • aww silly peter.

  • poor kid. he has problems, what business is it of u guys? he is still a talented and gifted artist. he and carl are best mates and they have always had a really intense relationship. its easy to overreact in that kind of atmosphere. the crowd seemed ok, and i sympathise with the rest of the band but he came back, he apologised to the band, gave carl a hug, and apologised to the audience. leave him be!!!

  • What does Carl say at the end of Can't stand me now?

  • Full Story - During can't stand me now Carl gave Pete a nasty look which is just as he took guitar off then Pete went mental, ran out on to the street and cut his chest then he heard 'The good old days' come on and he ran back on stage

  • Ever the professional that Pete. Putting his hurt feelings before the enjoyment of the 5000 people that had paid to see the Libertines. Kudos

  • Are you sure he's not saying that he was a bit distraught?

  • poor carl (but i also love peter john and gary)

  • hahahaha that was awesome, poor pete

  • omg i read about that in one of their books but never saw footage of it!he ran out onto the streets of brixton cut his chest open adn then ran back on when he heard "the good old days playing". not funny, poor carl, john and gary:(

  • thats really sad. he's obviously off his mind on drugs

  • hahahha priceless xD

  • carl looks annoyed

  • hahaha wtf!!! i love pete but he kinda runs like a girl.
