Bring your arms in. The setup with your arms far out doesn't do _anything_ to help you unless you wrap them in tight. It's that physics thing. If you don't know what I'm talking about, hold 5lb weights in each hand and spin around on a chair, and try wrapping.
This is pretty decent. I spilled backwards like you on my early 540s as well. The trick there is to try to keep your body upright. You'll get it down.
haha, just don't break the TV, looks like it's not cheap :D Anyway, 5 degrees aren't that bad yet, two pair of sock would do it. But that's your personal preference ofcourse.
hahah yea idk i wanted to start tricking but its lyk 5 degrees outside (literally) cuz I live in chicago....so im tryin to atleast get the 5 basics down be4 summer thn i can go outside and wrk on variations and stuff u kno....
backflips are a b**** to learn without spotters or a gym though -_-
Something that might help - try and leaning back when you throw your kick (you can see me doing it in my profile vid). It's scary as hell the first few times because it's 'almost' a flip that way. But you'll find it a lot easier to get the torque you need. It'll take some practice/tweaking with though =). Very nice overall though.
Oh! One more tip. Something that helped me land my 540s better was doing a pop tornado and landing on my kicking leg, just like a 540. Helps a ton.
If you do it "right", it's not painful at all. I mean really, I have no pain what so ever when I land my 540s. That extra 180-gyro completely changes the dynamics of the landing.
A warning: Don't practice the 540 every day/every time you trick if it hurts when you land it. Allow time for your ankle to both "recover", and strengthen.
Hey I think if you don't bend your leg when you're up in the air (kicking leg) you might land better.
