  • LOVE THAT TENOR,BLUE MAGIC,DELFONICS,LOVE THEM ALL

  • This takes me back to Holmes Street in Flint Michigan. When this song came out, my neice Tangie loved it, but being two all she could remember was "Hey you get off my mount." Tangie passed away last year and today she's singing in the Hevenly choir.

  • SE ESCUCHA LEJOS LA CANCION

  • Reynolds sounds just like Wee Gee. Remarkable. Wee Gee as I have said is their best singer. (They are all good). (Ron, Lenny,Wee Gee, all RIP)

  • My vocal group had the pleasure of being opening act for the Dramatics at the Fox Theater in St,Louis back in the early 70's. At the time we were covering all the Jackson 5 tunes, The Dramatics invited us to tour with them but my parents refused.

Still, they were very, very cool. Extremely talented and sing there hearts out! I will never forget that experience. RIP RON BANKS! You will be sorely missed.

  • i listing to more old school than rap

  • Mr Reynolds is every bit as good as Wee Gee(RIP) on this. I have gone on Record As saying that Wee Gee was the best lead the Dramatics ever Had. And Ron, Lenny., Mr Reynolds are always perfect.

  • this takes me bk 2 my teen yrs:-)

  • IT'S BEEN 6YRS THIS PAST OCT. THAT LENNY LEFT US....... FOREVER MISSED

  • LENNY R.I.P MISS YOU BRO...... MISS YOUR HUMOR YOU KEPT ME LAUGHING.... THANK YOU FAMILY GATHERINGS AINT THE SAME W/OUT U

  • the dramatics, new birth, natural four they were the groups of there time. I miss the 70s..........................

  • this is my jam;

  • I'm currently 16, I happen to fall upon this band when I was singing to myself "Don't rock the boat baby" and wondered who sings it. So I went on youtube and check, I'm now currently listening to all their songs while doing school work. I'm amazed by the talent back in the days. The new music coming out these days are crappy screaming drug songs. Not real music. This is real music. I only wish I could of stumble across this sooner. Beautiful, just truly beautiful.

  • @platapouce Well spoken! I really appreciate your comment and feel you are an objective and wise person.Unfortunately, not many folks your age has the big picture like you.If more would just listen and compare to actually feel the difference between old-school compared to the now sound!I hope not to offend the hip-hop fans among members out there, but by the age of 55 I have given all the chances for the new-wave sounds to soak in and they don't hold up for me.I just humbly say,to each his own.

  • @kenesto I'm in your space, 55+. I was fortunate to know all of them. Lenny is my ex-husband's 1st cousin, and was always at our house. Had ssoo much fun. Sorry that most of them are gone. I know they would still sound great.

  • @kenesto Great comments. I agree except to say that if you listen to 80's -90's Hip Hop it had it's own passion and can still be enjoyed. I think to most of these new artists it's simply about getting paid because now a days a few hit singles and you maybe, If they handled the business end of the music business correctly, rich. That's why artists don't last anymore. Old school songs where about touching the heart to give you joy and a sad song was there to help you through the pain.

  • @platapouce: dats real. im 20 but i got alot of respect for this type of old music.

  • @platapouce: dats real. im 20 but i got alot of respect for this type of old music. thumbs up on dat.

  • im 20 but dis old music da truth.

  • @platapouce hey kido without our music you would never have yor music. ours was the best

  • @platapouce hey kido without our music you wouldn't have yours

  • @platapouce This old music is beautiful to my ears before I was born& i was born in 1977! glad u can appeciate old skool music!

  • @platapouce HEY YOU!! Stop looking for thumbs ups! If you like good musics, congrats. no 1 cares about your age. Listen and enjoy

  • @platapouce I feel you I am 19 and my favorite genres are Motown, Soul, Funk, Jazz, NorthernSoul anyway I love 60s and 70s music. Wish there were more people our age that loved this espcially girls to and maybe they wouldnt be so trashy looking today unlike they were back than.

  • @platapouce Make sure to share with your friends the treasures such as these beautiful, loving, uplifting songs. Have a text party and provide some of the music you have come to enjoy and challenge them to listen to it and hit you back with their thoughts. Should be a nice something to explore, enjoy!

  • I love this. Dramatics is a group that you can listen to all day..

  • The Dramatics are a group that are brilliant...

  • "...makes me feel like a clown, I think I better put you in your place!"

  • THIS WAS MY MANTRA.

This song came out at a time in my life when I was being subjected to extreme mental and emotional cruelty by someone who was supposed to love me.

And I would play this song everyday as a means of girding myself to do battle with that individuals constant negativity.

The lyrics served to remind me that some people are just out to bring you down.

And that you have to love yourself no matter what anyone says about you.

    It worked.

    I survived. Emotionally intact.

  • Ok ppl i was born in 1980 & my parents listened to this music, me & my lil sis love Oldies i remember hot sunny summer days listining to this in the car singing my lil heart out. this music makes me feel better & takes me back to better times.

  • old school i love it

  • Ron Banks would often sit in during our radio show The Old School House Party with Gerald McBride on Mix 92.3 in Detroit. I videotaped him the last time he was in the studio with us. He was a really great guy. The entertainment world has lost an untouchable talent.

  • dhills2009, from someone who very much grew up in that era of music I must say for one, you have GREAT taste. There was no era like this along with the Sounds of Philidelphia, Motown and the tunes coming out of LA to include the super duper Whispers, another of my most favorite groups you did miss a lot of good music. I so understand. So, so much good, positive and sexy music performed by genuinely talented people.

  • My all-time favorite group, EVER!

  • Ron left us today!! Sad and scary thing. They are leaving so often! What a party it must be in heaven. The voices there........OMG!!! RIP Ron, Levi, Barry, Rick, Willis, Otis, Michael, Elvis, Marvin, David, Little Sunny, and all the rest!

  • @calamityjann Yes, very scary indeed. Saw them perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland where Ron lamented the fact that they were not inducted. They should be.

  • DRAMATICS ALL DAY LONG!!!!! Stone,Sexy Music sing, sing, sing my brothers! Hey Tee get off my mountain, stay off my cloud and phone too!

  • @ladyceetee

    OH Yes!

  • this song deserve 2 be #1

  • man as a 43 year old cat i just can't see how any 1 that follows music especially soul, funk,r&b,old school hip-hop, and blues cannot love this music. man i grew up in texas and my dad owned a juke joint and i would here all this music growing up there and at home, and in the clubs. damn people this is what you call soul. i wish alot of these youngsters today could just sit down and listen to alot of this great music. thank god 4 my birth in 1966, so i could b part of the greatest music ever.

  • @str8outtatexas1 who you telling ! it always does something to me ..but that beacuse the singers were so real ...

  • You are right SO RIGHT...

I'm 25..and this is ALL I listen to...Why oh WHY could I not be born in this wonderful era of Black musical genius...LOVE IT.

  • Comment removed

  • @str8outtatexas1 I totally agree with you. I too was born in 1966 and grew up listening to this music. I am glad that my parents introduced me to this in the 60's and 70's. I remember my mom pulling out her boxes of 45's....they too used to own a hamburger/hot dog stand and had a jukebox. What wonderful memories. These artist are the ones who schooled the ones of today.

  • @str8outtatexas1 I don't think I could have said it better !!!!

  • @str8outtatexas1, the "youngsters" that are involved in the music industry today are WELL versed in "old school" music however, it is the executive at the record label who will NOT back anything meaningful because music has the power to cause change...consequently, the radio airwaves are filled with trash.

  • @str8outtatexas1 Too bad "youngsters" today listen to rap and hip-hop, which is probably the worst genre of music to develop in the history of music (English-speaking music, I guess)

  • great song from a great group! Thanks

  • Dont forget Larry Demps ....His name was "Squirrel".....best shaker in the WORLD!!

  • I went to school with Ron and Lenny... They and the group just had talent and style that brings joy to the World! My heart soars with their every note! The backing musicians and arrangements are SO outstanding and soulful the way they uplift the words! Long live their collective works. Conant Garden and Kranz Woods (Detroit) rocked! Brother Mays rest in peace!

  • The songs of the Dramatics do it for me all the time!

  • I was 12 years old when this came out. When I heard, I ran out to buy it. I agree, that they were indeed underrated.

  • Collector of classics like this at age 12?You know you have taste! I applaud you!

  • I had the great moment of meeting the Dramatics at the (now-closed) Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, Ca. Those guys put on such a great show. Wow, the memories float on the harmonies as I sit here listening to this track. Thanks kenesto for dropping this sound onto youtube. (smiles and more smiles from me to you!)

  • One of the greatest vocal groups of all time. The Dramartics are definitely underrated but I have to give them their props. Vocally they were just as good as the temptations. Ron Banks and L.J. Reynolds were phenomenal lead singers and there wasn't a single weakness in the group, vocally that is.

  • And do not forget WeeGee Howard who shares the lead with Banks on this one!!Great!!

  • Each member was capable of singing lead. One of greatest vocal groups ever.

  • Yes indeed!!

  • Brothers!! you better all learn this, "The Performing Arts" will alway belong to the Black Race of this Planet, it's our inheritance from time immemorial.

  • @sunraypower I agree, all five of The Dramatics were very strong singers. All five were indeed lead singers. However Wee Gee is the lead with Ron on this song. This was before L.J. Also L.J. didn't have anything on Wee Gee. Wee Gee was TOTALY AWESOME, I ACTUALLY PREFER HIS SINGING VOICE OVER L.J.'S. L.J. SINGS WELL TOO OF CAUSE. I AM ALSO A GREAT FAN OF LENNY MAYES SINGING. Y ALL OF THE CLASSIC DRAMATICS WERE GREAT SINGERS. THE DRAMATICS WERE FANS OF THE TEMPTATIONS (MY FAVORITE GROUP)

  • Thier is no way rap music can bring the feeling this song has .Old school for ever .

  • Old school never goes away, this is what i'm talking about. I remember when i was about ten years old my older brother, sisters and cousins was in the basement singing in mics. Still sound good to me.

  • desertheaterz, don't carry that what your friend say, " you have a good ear for listening to good music" Girl let me tell you they were some wonderful time then . I am 47 and I grew up with all this music, and girl we had some good times, yes I say good times., Enjoy your life now, and what ever music you relate to now cherish it and when you get in you older days you can say the same.bye baby

  • excellent....too much....thank you for this unforgettable memory

  • this and what cha see is what you get are theme songs =) i love oldies all my friends say i have an old spirit cuz im only 18

  • That's so nicely stated and highly appreciated! From time to time we are graced with a taste of music that becomes a part of us,that we can connect to.Such songs as these have the distinction of taking that leap, not only because it sounds good but also since we identify with its meaning as well it having the capacity to take us to a time and place in the past we were fond of.One can safely say this hit song by The Dramatics is a great philosophical masterpiece that defined this groups artistry.

  • the legend of the soul and r&b music of the wonderful 70 years hard to forget, for having made a successful stage of our youth....thank you for this unforgettable memory..congratulations for this beautiful video music

  • I remember this song as a child, when me and my sister and brother would clean up on saturday mornings. After my mothers friday night card parties. My sister would turn on the record player and play album. I think it was her favorite, cuz I heard this song alot

  • Ahhhhh! The distinctive reminiscent value of this song, especially since you heard it a lot growing up! Is it not a fun little ride when certain songs can channel you to those fond memories back in time? That's just one reason that Old-School tunes never really get old! They're time machines!

  • Very nice song!!!!Amazing!!!!

  • These artist stood out with some fantastic signature material such as this as well as"Get Up and Get Down","Toast To The Fool","In The Rain","Be My Girl","Hot Pants In The Summertime","I Can't Get Over You","Whatca See Is Whatcha Get" and "Door To Your Heart"(my very favorite)among other hits. They were a profound pioneering force in the 1970's Disco & Soul Music era! Kudos to them and your comment!!!

  • love this songs inspires me everyday

  • this song still gets me going to face the day . . .HEY YOU, GET OFF MY MOUNTAIN!

  • Hi! Would you happen to have the original "Joyride "album with the song , "Sundown is coming, hold back the night? " I have the album, but I played it so much I wore out the record and the album cover.

  • Sorry I don't have that for an upload dbrenee.Perhaps another member can oblige you.

  • This takes me back to days when I had no stress and did not have to deal with life's pressures

    I loved the 70s and being 16

  • Right! This is a noteworthy back-in-the-day classic of sensational soul record's era. Here is one stylish Dramatic record of sincere depth!

  • Thanks so much, Kenesto. This gem was from my time. I was a beautiful brownskinned princess then. They were the bomb.

  • OK!Your time is still here as songs such as this still make waves! I note how folks say"They don't make soul music like they used to"which is a fact. However the good side of the situation is that the oldies music can then stand out in there own respective right as collector classic productions with some reminiscent value. You're welcome too!

  • love it!

  • Thanks!

  • beutiful, beautiful, song of the dramatics, congratulations for this remember, very good the channel

  • Thank you for posting this. 'brings back memories of being a little boy growing up in the 70's. I'm now 41.

  • Yeah, brings to mind the term"oldies but goodies"that is exemplified by past works of art such as this one!Why is it that the classic oldies keep their sparkle?Because they(now genre) just don't make them like this anymore! You're welcome too!

  • I am so glad someone posted this! I love this song! My best friend and I were preteens when this song was out and we just loved it. We still talk about it to this very day. Great post...thank you!
