  • too bad nobody agrees with him...

  • Loving all of humanity as the translator put it is a step in the right direction of peace, but it totally misunderstands the purpose of peace. If the problem is in being the enemy of life, a proponent of death, which I am incredibly pleased to hear him say, it must be said that peace sometimes leads to death, rather than life. Love is even worse. If you love someone for being human, you love him by default, regardless of his quallities as an individual. You do yourself, nor him, any service.

  • join al qaeda?! in fact he instructed his wives 2 have his children get da best education especially in europe or 2 hire european and american teachers to tutor his kids. so in other words, his kids r 2 precious 2 die for allah's sake but its OK to brainwash poor afghan and arab kids to fight america and die.

we muslims really need 2 think critically and ponder over y our countries r backward and miserable instead of blaming everything on america and israel.

  • destruction-----unless we do that, we will always remain poor, divided, hungry, illeterate, uncivilized, diseased and backwards

and now we muslims have seen the true face of bin laden whose will was published in a saudi newspaper in which he told his wives to not 2 remarry and that he does not want any of his children to join al qaeda and fight da west. this is hypocrisy of the highest degree---if jihad and fighting america is such a noble thing, then y does he not want his children to

  • females especially by allowing them to get educated instead of keep them isolated, locked up, ignorants and poor. we need 2 treat ethnic and religious minorities with equal respect and provide them with protection in our muslim countries. we must send students to western countries so that they can attain education, technology, understand openess and dialogue and then come back and develop our countries instead of choosing confrontation with america which only leads to more misery, death and

  • im a muslim and i support this muslim intellectual professor for his rationality, common sense and humanity. we muslims shud open up debate and dialogue even with foes such as jews and israelis instead of obsessing about strapping bombs on our youth to blow up israelis or americans. we need to live for our islamic values of tolerance, rationalilty, free thinking, freedom of assembly and speech, scientific progress and arts and culture. we need 2 reform our thinking. we need 2 empower our youth and

  • I've commented on Dr Al-Hamid Al-Ansari before. I think he has restored my postive outlook on humanity. The man is an intellectual giant.

  • i think that the gentleman speaking in this video proves you wrong.

  • who promoted AL JIHAD???

    IS IT NOT MOHAMED???

  • This is a very brave man - a true humanist - and I wish him well.

  • MEMRI rocks

  • Memri is a Powerful Tool Huh. Interesting .

  • He is right on when it comes to suicide bombing but he is completely off the chart when it comes to America's blunders.

  • I would love to have a conversation with that man...! I think he is awesome!

  • He will be beheaded in a couple of years.

  • I love your culture Sub! as always your koran-sticking tongue worked to our advantage. You will be forever be inferior to the west. Your illusion of "islamic victory over the west" is just a threat on paper! KEEP IT THAT WAY! specially your bombs 'till your arab kin will kill you for that! LOOK AT IRAQ!

  • Maybe its the way I put it! Let me rephrase: "I am surprised that he is still alive".

Also take a look at my profile.

  • You could agree or disagree with him but he is a good speaker and a voice of individual freedom!!

  • This guy is gonna get his head cut off 1 day you watch and see...

All Peaceful Muslims end up getting killed.

  • This man need to be stript of his Islamic title. How dare he support America and its allies. Infact, all he said was bullshit with lack of knowledge.

  • Apprends comment ecrire correctement et puis tu pourras critiquer apres.

  • because alarabiya is NOT a muslim channel just like eljazira.watch imran hosein talking about them on you tube

  • وهو يمثل احد غبية الاسود الرمال, وثمة تركيزا من

  • Good man, - this needs to be said!

  • What a weird man, I agreed with his opinions until he said that we should be faithful allies to the US...that was/still is the case in the gulf region..but what did we gain from that alliance? what if china becomes the world's strongest power, where would we be? Its time to work on ourselves and be more productive, create countries that are self efficient, we dont need the west, all we need is a productive society...

  • "Its time to work on ourselves and be more productive, create countries that are self efficient, we dont need the west, all we need is a productive society... " what part of this sentence advocates an alliance with china?

  • the same message also asked what should we do if china becomes the next super power. .... the answer become allies with china.

I agree with everything in your quote but the fact that you don't need the west. For the person who wrote it, west was essential to communicate his idea. Virtually every technology you use today came from the west. And it is stupid to reject it.

  • Not "every" technology" came from the west, where did Japan and other far eastern technology provider countries go?

Its not about rejecting the west or not, its about not being dependent on the west, and stopping the west from interfering in our problems. After all thats what people in the middle east have been trying to do for years.

  • i said virtually every technology. and japan is geographically in the east, but it essentially embraced and adopted all western technologies and is part of that world, politically, economically, and socially.

msabssa, if you want oil money you have to accept interference from the west and east (china). It is part of the price you pay for not working and letting others come in, think, do the work, and extract that oil out for you.

  • Thats exactly what I was saying in the begining!!!

and we are doing that, in Saudi at least. But this takes time, and by the time China is in power (which is soon), we have nothing to worry about, since we have really strong ties with them, you're their enemies BUAHAHA :P kidding!

  • lol... but seriously relationship between China and the US is good - simply put, we cannot live without each other.

I am in favor of US and the west moving away from oil dependance. It makes both the west and you worse off. We pay you a lot of money and that money corrupts you and creates terrorism.

  • Thats just being ignorant. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

  • no it not being ignorant. read economic research - it points out very high correlation between mineral wealth and corruption. You don't have to work hard (or at all) when you have oil or diamonds or gold, but all that instant wealth is a magnet for thiefs and crooks who pocket that money, leaving regular people worse off and it creates civil wars (like congo or nigeria). Paradoxically, most countries are better off without those minerals.

  • and you prove your ignorance once again...

  • care to articulate your argument a tiny bit better?

  • I usually would, but I just read some comments on your channel and you like to argue a lot dont you?, even if I proved you wrong, you'd still argue. So no, I wouldn't waste my time.

  • I think truth comes out of an arguement. Just like ancient greeks did. Unless you question, you cannot say if it is the truth or merely an accepted superstition. However, unlike many, I can admit when I am wrong and change my mind. :)

  • good for you

  • of course it is good for me. and it highlights the difference between western thinking, which questions everything, and middle eastern, which lacks that critical thinking just like Adonis says in that third vide in related videos.

  • Do you know what we call people like you in Saudi? "Lazga"= tape . And Maaan you're quoting the syrian Adonis? are you serious? You talk about things you're ignorant about, then you believe ideas of the deranged. What kind of terrorist groups exist Alberta? or soon to be in Saskatchewan?! there is tons of oil there, and for the western/m.eastern mentality BS, read Edward Said's book The Orient, you'll feel like an idiot when you're done with it.

  • what % of revenues are derived from oil in Canada? small..very small. Name me ONE country with mineral wealth accounting for over 30% of its GDP that is a well-governed state... you can't....

  • Do well governed states exist? and I thought we were talking about people not governments. " You don't have to work hard (or at all) when you have oil or diamonds or gold, but all that instant wealth is a magnet for thiefs and crooks who pocket that money, leaving regular people worse off and it creates civil wars"

  • well-governed states do exist, relatively speaking of course. If you compare Switzerland to Swaziland, for example. Well, aren't people make up states/governments? I am not talking about some inherent traits here, just common human responses to wealth pwoer and temptation.

  • You might be right, but I think its unfair and wrong, wealth is the same anywhere. If it were true, you'd think Israel is a terrorist state because of the money its getting from Germany and the US, when Israelis really arent doing much, not because of religious conflicts in that region. And we both know thats someone you totally disagree with :)

  • something *

  • the question is not whether they have wealth, but from what sources it is derived. If it derived from sources that do not require much in terms of education, worth ethic, or organization, and profit margins are huge (like oil - everything above $20 is pure profit), then, chances are easy money will create corruption. Its like illegal drugs - easy much and huge profits create drug wars, lawlessness etc.

  • Israel is not a good example but that has nothing to do with your or my view about it. It gets tiny amounts relative to GDP from Germany and US - US aid is like $3B per year and GDP is $165B. But the main economy is driven by technology, pharma, etc - all requiring a great deal of education and work ethic.

  • I'd admit that your theory is spot on, only if, all Saudis were filthy rich, or the majority at least, when they're not. And even the Saudi men who were claimed to be terrorists came from middle class families or even poor families. The rich Saudi families usually are very passive, and no they dont fund terrorist groups. I urge you to visit a couple of states of the Arabian Gulf, I'm sure you'll have a more vivid picture, and I'm certain you'll change a lot of your ideas.

  • well, that is the whole point is that MOST are poor because easy money is too tempting for those in power to just pass on to ALL people - i.e. corruption. And that corruption denies young people employment, fosters resentment and ultimately creates fertile ground for terrorist recruiters. That being said, I hope I did not come off as someone who thinks that all or most of Saudi support terrorism or end up as terrorists. I haven't been to the Gulf but I know enough to know it's not true.

  • Most are middle class. Fortunately, capitalism didn't invade us entirely.

  • if you think about it, all capitalism is, is allowing people to use their talents to make their lives and lives of the loved ones better without anyone coming over taking it away from them. what's wrong with that?

Throughout history, Arabs were probably some of the best capitalists in the world through their entrepreneurial spirit and knack for trading.

  • If you read more about Islamic Khilafat in its golden age, you'll understand what our "ism" was. Capitalism is causing the deterioration of the west right now, the same applied to communism in Russia. After all, time proved Fukuyama wrong, just like it did to Darwin's theory, but because people were convinced that those theories are absolute, its very hard for them to look at life in a different way.

  • msabssa, can you recommend a good book (translated) about the golden age? I am familiar with just standard college texbooks. Also, how was evolution theory proven wrong? Also, speaking about perspectives, are you sure that you are not limited to your geographical perspective on liberal democracy and capitalism? Outside of the middle east, I don't see a movement away from democratic ideas and i would give us at least another year or two before considering capitalism as doom :)

  • also, adjusted for inflation, GDP per capital is $7,800 - you need to double that amount to be considered poor in the United States...

  • This is why Americans arent the best people to have a discussion with. You always see things from your perspective, you judge a country's status according to yours. We're talking about Saudi here. Capitalism is based on individualism, Communism on common ownership, and both to us are extreme. We have our own "ism", and it was the reason behind the success of the Islamic State in the middle ages. Unlike Egypt, Syria and Iraq, Saudi never had leaders that advocated communism. We stand apart.

  • I understand what you mean by Americans and their world view. However, I was born in a communist country, so I have more than one perspective. And since we all have our points of view, including you, capitalism as something extreme is your uinque perspective that is not shared by most in the world. Many think of capitalism as something like 19th centure American or modern-day Russia. But it is not. Charity is consistent with capitalism just like workers rights, etc.

  • but i will check Edward Said out. thanks!

  • uncivilized brainwashed muslims are calling this guy an idiot...what insanity.

  • This idiot is looking at the fruits rather than the roots.islam is great and noneviolant it stretched as far as spain, france, portugal, sicily, china and india. They learned alot from islam. But Satan is satan and invaders have no mercy. If you say do good and worship the ONE true God(Allah)i say ok,but what do u expect us to do sit and let them shower u with bombs

  • I really like this wise man Dr. Abd Al-Hamid Al-Ansari, former dean of the Faculty of Islamic Law at the University of Qatar!!!

  • Farista111, this man has a point and he needs to take the place of those radical imams in mosques. He is trying to point out the erroneous decisions that many young Muslims make via a fanatical political ideaology. There is no justification for killing innocent civilians. Violence is not the answer to solve problems.

  • This man is wise and appears to see beyond violent acts to the potential implications. We must all move beyond violence, which is rooted in fear, and embrace peace...

  • The Philippines had an American military presence for almost a century. And it didn't gain us anything! When Bush visited Manila 6 years ago, thousands of Filipinos rioted on the streets, burning American flags and chanting "death to America". Normally those are scenes from Middle Eastern countries. We are Christian, but would al Ansari call us extremists for doing so?

  • No. Because you protest, not sending your kids to kill themselves and others.

By-the-way what is the situation now in the Philippines?

Do you have a new government?

  • It is still the same corrupt government. Nothing has changed.

  • I'm muslim, but Islam does not mean peace.

Islam means submission to one unseen god.

There are both peaceful and violent elements in Islam.

But the violent elements in it were logical during the days it was being spread, but not in todays world.

  • I agree on everything this guys says regarding jihad and suicide bombings. But love affair with America is just disturbing. Doesn't he see the terror that was done in Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq by Western imperialists? I'm not even Arab or Muslim. I say this proudly as a Christian Filipino. America is an imperialist entity, a destructive force, an oppressor, the Great Satan! Those Gulf Arabs should open their eyes before they open their mouth!

  • Who is this man to judge that people will go to hell?

who is this man to judge when he has not seen the day to day happenings in palestine.?

He has only "interests" in his mind, rather than justice to the oppressed people.

if he SAYS it in front of IRAQIS ,then he is done.

  • wise.. this is the majority of the arabs way of thinking

  • That's doubtful.

  • شكراً لهذا الفكر النيّر المتفتح الحضاري

  • This faculty lecturer has an excellent point of view. He speaks in a very rational and progressive manner, and justifies his claims according to his observations. I hope that radicals will eventually realize that violence is not the answer. However, I don't care for this TV anchorman, since he obviously has very biased views.

  • hello memri ,we are here

    05:53

    Arabian Gulf not persian gulf

  • @test1811

PLease don't tell me that you're one of those that's trying to rename the persian gulf. Before the arabic language existed, the persians controled that water way. The persian have controled the north bank of the persian gulf, as well as the straight of hormus for thousands of years. It's not because a few khaligis found some oil, got rich and now think they are bad ass that they can rename it.

They owned it, and they still own it! PErsian gulf baby.

  • lol, i found it funny

  • Islam does not mean Muslim (Al-Musoloman). It is the last part of Islam. Its previous parts are Al-Hind (Hindu), Al-Yahudy (Jews), Christians (Al-Inzil, Al-Zabuur). Christian Priests are also liars because they did not acknowledge that all of their theories were ancient ideologies of the Philosophers of Middle East. All Mosques should be turned into Scientific education centers because clerics are preaching hates and Arabic brutal histories.

  • In 1971 Bangladeshi Muslim girls were raped by ISLAMIC Party Jamate Islami Party. Jamate Islami party was supported by Saudi Arabia through Pakistan. Jamate Islam had three killer groups - Al-Razakar, Al-Qaeda and Al-Badr. Those groups killed 3 million people in Bangladesh. THOSE ISLAMIC BASTARD TERMED THE WORLD INTO A HATES THROUGH KILLINGS AND GROUPS.

  • The truth is that NOT ALL but many of these Arabs don't give a shit about anyone. In the disguise of Pan-Islamism, they'll use Arab-Nationalism as means of killing Non-Arabs even if the Non-Arabs be muslims.

Look at what the racist Arab Saddam did to Persians & Kurds.

Look at what racist Arab Janjaweeds are doing to Black Nubian Muslims in Darfur.

  • Well, I think that we should all stop seeing each other as enemies. Its a perception that manifests itself into conflicts and wars. Like he said at the beginning, we need to see each other just as human beings. There's those Jewish leaders that are all cocky in israel toward the middle eastern countries, but those are just politicians. People need to stop identifying other nationalities and cultures as the political figures that govern them. Most people just want to live their lives in peace.

  • You are a perfect example why there will never be peace in that part of the world. While seemingly saying all are the right words, you don't pass an opportunity to ever so slightly and innocently to put the blame on the other side. Peace will only be achieved when BOTH sides exercise self criticism. Pride swallowing is a very difficult thing to, especially in the middle east.

  • Yah, I agree with that. I never said I didn't. There are things that all sides do that exacerbate things. Its a vicious cycle. Don't be so quick to judge me.

  • @Pisscunt: Right!

  • I like this guy. I think everyone would benefit from his advice.
