The greatest ever. Sam embodied a very special spirit, and he was true to that, which is why he became such a great singer/musician, and such a great man. If God had ever wanted to show man an example of what it is to be naturally "of God", he would have been Sam Cooke.
On June 13th, 1964 Sam Cooke's "Tennessee Waltz" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100; eventually it would peak at No. 35 and spent 8 weeks in the Top 100 (this song was the B/side of the record, the A/side was "Good Times", which peaked at #11}
The most successful version was by Patti Page; on January 6th, 1951 it reached No. 1 {for 8 weeks} on Billboard's Best Sellers chart and also #2 on Billboard's Country & Western chart {it was ranked #10 on Billboard's Year-End Top 30 Singles of 1951 chart}
Just to hear the line-up of what musicians are coming up makes me shiver. I can't imagine living in a time when timeless artists are featured one-after-the-other.
I grew up in the 70s and 80s .my mother played Tennessee waltz by Sam. And I just fell in love with that song and all the rest of his music. Being a nine year old white kid in 1979 jamin to Motown . The music had me..... Larry you were right gotta love your cuz. Thankyou Sam never forgotten.
@EbolaSandwich Agreed. Yet, he actually had two different lumps on his head. One at the back right and one front left. He suffered several broken ribs, broken fingers, a broken left arm, and, per notes reported by the physician performing autopsy, Sam had numerous bruises, cuts and scratches on his body, including badly bruised knuckles and two broken wrists. Now tell me a plump 55-year-old can do this to a 33-year-old man allegedly strong enough to kick a door down (sarcasm injected).

How he died is still under scrutiny....Oh, he died from gunshot, but the 2 inch bruise on his head wasn't caused by a broom handle

@indure08 exactly! sound like a set up to me. A group effort. NO WAY a middle aged chubby lady could have done all that to a strong young man
