Aiptek used to be a fairly good company. No More, In The USA, Aiptek has gone down hill they stopped making PMP Players and recorders in their cameras, as well as discontinuing the Action HD Pro and no longer answer customer phonecalls or call back. They are rude to the customer base. @fre2e2 You need to download a program to do that. I suggest a program called Youtube downloader, not only can you download youtube vids with it. You can convert any video on your pc aswell! For the program has two functions....

I'd like to get one to plug my PXL-2000 on it and be able both to have a lcd monitor for the PXL that doesn't have its own, and the ability to reccord PXL-2000 rushes on flash SD card (cuz that would be nice).

@XCasperProductionsX the cam you are in here about is the A-HD+ so lets toss a few mo scenerio's the Go-hd and A-Hd are in the same league. 720P the Action HD and A-HD+ are in the 1080P. so let meask you which is better the Action HD1080P or the A-HD720P?
to answer yours Optical wins, butto have focus hunt. a different story.
can you upload videos to your computer through usb? and can you just plug the sd card into the computer to get the video or do you have to you components? please respond. thank you.
only Compants arefor playback. and usb for pc and mac connection. so uploading to your pc would go to which one, yes pc or mac, not componants. the compnants do not offer a data feed. thank you.
Is that 60 fps progressive scan ? or actual 60fps and that 5 mp ? did you use that cam for this video? if so, it seems to have motion blur, is that optional? Thanks.
So, like in your video, you said that you can hear the battery like moving around because of the battery cover or something... Like I want to know if it is the companies problem or it's because it randomally happened...
it may been only my model. as I have many of wit hte same np battery. 12 of them the orginal battery may have oved, but i am with a different clor the n the real. the orginal is silver, not blue. each may vary.

Thanks!
Also, great review. You basicly told me all I wanted to know it's just I haven't really bought it yet.
Just back from Thailand with this camera. Why are half my vids out of focus, especially ones filmed in bright daylight of scenery at a good distance. Close-ups are looking pretty good, grainy, but ok. Do I need to flip back and forth between macro and close-up to get it right? You said you have your cam fixed to close-up right? I'm pretty sure mine has been too. Waz up?
no, I said I locked my macro, to not be always filming in macro, when I pull out ofa pocket, theswitch is a poor design, or incorrectly placed. that may have hap'ed to you that you thought you were in Infinity , when pulled from your pocket, and never knew about it. sorry. butAiptek ruinsa great vacation or journelists shots.
I was wondering if you could help me out......I just got a new laptop and I can't find the cd software for the Aiptek A-HD 720 Model. I tried downloading my videos thru windows and it came out all pixelated. Is there a way to download my videos correctly? Or do I need to buy a new CD for the software? If so where could I buy one?
One more thing to add... Aiptek is probably not the best and not the worst camcorder manufacturer in the world... but your reviews are definitely the best ones on the net Fishy. Keep up the good work!
I was looking for a very cheap camera. I wanted a camera which can take good quality videos but is able to do good still pictures as well. Therefore i bought an aiptek hybrid camcorder. Which was awful. It does everything you want but it does it in a very disappointing way. So I just bought a Panasonic LS80 for the same price....which is perfect.
I have the Aiptek A-HD w/ GVS 1080p (not the +). Does anyone else have a MAJOR problem with the poor battery life? My battery will give me TOPS half hour of recording and maybe 10-15 minutes TOPS playback. Is this a defect with just my camera or is this is a recurring problem in this model? Either way, is there a known replacement battery I could buy? I appreciate ANY feedback, folks.
More manual controls on the model you have, and ifyou referring to this review comparing it to this: both firmwares are the same I believe, not a owner of the hd100
Just bought the AHD Z700 the other day, only cons i have noticed is a "bluish" light coming up in the lower part of the picture, when you use it with flash, fixed it with a piece of black tejp just above the flash, the reflection came from the "shiny" ring around the lens" a tip for all owners of this, otherwise, excellent cam.
elo sir, I have been using an aiptek ahd camcorder which only does up to 720 30f and whenever I take a picture with flash everything is fine
I recently bought and ahd+ , it has 1080p and a 720p at 60 frames all is well and good, but the problm is whenever I take still images with the flash on , the picture is always overexposed everyone at 3 meters seem to be filled with white light of the flash, unlike in my old ahd camcorder which is excellent even up to a meter close.
I have had the DV-2 and the 720 (horrible audio). Aiptek's over-all best camera still appearrs to be the DV-5700. If this cam had a night-vision mode, I'd be good. Seems like the sound has gotten worse with the newer cams
thanks alot this cam has a great price for what it does (Im an amateur video dude) and this is the perfect hd cam and its small enough to carry around with you
all time trusted vide, not audio. was going to take back with me the AHD+ and taped the wide angle for my adventuresbut cancleled trip thank for the comment always use it and will always have mine luv it for that
Ok so this camera uses mov file format. So how do I edit mov files for youtube in HD for free.I have tried Movie maker and camtasia studio but both dont exept mov files. What should I do.
I've found a camera in a brochure called the 'Aiptek ADH300 1080p HD video camera'... and was wondering if they would have just mucked up a couple of letters in the name and it was really the same camera in your review here? It looks exactly the same, and sounds the same, (to me.) I am in NZ so I think they probably didn't get all the info quite right.
copyrighte, first of all. you can bypas if you have a caption card on the pc by hooking up video to thecaption, andsound to the sound then av input no othe fast way but real time recording
I own 3 aipteks and they have all been solid performers at a areasonable price. But I would like to know hot to download to the camera via the usb 2.0 cable from videos or hulu or msn tv, This would be a lot quicker than doing it hooked up to a TV/VCR, My intent is just to use it like a video ipod as well and watch shows while commuting. Feel free to mail me with solutions, thanks in advance
I would love if someone could help me... Ive been recording videos with this camera forever (got plenty of videos on my profile) But i recently got HD component cables for my xbox 360, but i cant seem to hook up my camera and film and play simultaneously. (note that i normally hooked it up to the TV directly) Help would be very very appriciated, and if someone can help, please message me and not reply to this comment, thank you.
I wonder if you are able to add subtitles or closed caption to your video so we can understand more about some technical terms. Anyway, thanks your sharing.
all this HD talk . and this vid is regular res. crap .DUDE !!! a HD cam cost 99 bucks at best buy . just get off youtube untill you get a job. or save 99 from the cash your mom gives you ! cuz we know you live at home cuz you cant afford a 99 dollar cam to shoot this vid with !!!
He shot this video with the Sanyo HD700, which is a pretty sweet (budget) camera. I rarely see "real" HD on YouTube. Most people post HD to Vimeo instead.
Features-wise, I say it's 3 stars. The 1080p and 60 fps is the star feature of this camera. Other than that, it's really lacking optical zoom depth, external audio input, low-light video quality, and image stability.
Great review I have one just got in 2weeks ago but had not opened it up yet? I really was if'y about keeping it but I did get a great deal at Target $120.00 best deal out there. Im a Walmart fan and it sold for $200.00 def not a deal... I was planing on getting the Flip HD but way out of what i wanted to pay. Merry Xmas
I bought it!! 99 bucks 20 rebate!! See my video response and comment!! I test it right away and is really worth for the money. My ticket is lost though, so I hope to get it back before the rebate expires or will loose my 20 bucks... :(
I'm just wondering if you've used the TV capture feature or whatever. The thing where ya' hook up the camera to the TV through AV port or some technical jazz like that.
And located below says HD out? you probably pulled the tab partially and only exposed the Ear head jack sybol. nah you just did not read the manual, nor know that the HD jack is video only that the RGBcables get pluged in including the standard tv sound only LOL. a video response hmmmm
I was loving this camera until i tried pulling it into my HTtv. In the TV-Out i only have an option for NTSC or PAL. WTF!!! Shouldn't there be a HDTV option????
AiptekA-HD 6720 for 99.99 an additional mail in 20.00 coupon, ifyou miss out do notworry go online iti s at 99.99 every end of the month yo get rebates off
I purchased the 1080P for 99.99 and will get $20 cash rebate in the mail. It is listed as regularly priced at $149.99. However, I am not sure that is correct, or a sales pitch. I hope it is a good camera for a beginner.
I need to purchase an inexpensive camcorder for my eleven-year-old granddaughter for school projects. I was considering the aiptek A-HD+ 1080P (on sale for only $79.99). I know it is not the best camera, but is there a better one for the money for a pre-teen?
According to the sale add, Walgreens has it for 79.99 for seven hours today (Friday, November 28). The add did not specify the type of Aiptek, but I called the photo clerk to see the specific type of camcorder. I am heading there now to purchase. I hope she gave me the correct information. Call Walgreens. Seven hour sale starts at 7 AM.
For anyone with complaints about the .mov, I haven't tried this myself but read it in another review of this camera. The video itself is encoded in h.264 which is readable in many players and editors. The .mov is just a wrapper and can supposedly be renamed to whatever type is needed be it .avi or .mpeg4 . Let me know how it works if anyone tries this.
there is not muh one can do about the quality of the sound, there is Firmware that wil lower the sound in a -6db, and as well the video and other info thecompany will toss in.
they made newer versions today called the HS-HD the HD1 and GVS they all will ahve a ext mic .
will it be a better quality, I am not sure. this is a low budget cam, and onl way I can see is to Modd a mic, or use a sound recorder.
What can be done about the sound with the aiptek a-hd+1080P? Can an exterior mic be used with it? The sound is simply awful. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
None have. i am explaining to you that if you change body styles the cam will tend to be a lil bigger causing that batt to shut down. older batt did that
i have NO video editing experience and have never uploaded a video on a computer, but for a newbie like myself, what editor would u recommend i start out with? i believe on this review u stated ur choice editor did not work well with the A-HD +. Thanks again for ur patience and your help.
i have clearly come to notice that my A-HD + really needs bright light, i mean i read the reviews about low light, but i will be in a well lit room and still have to put the night vision on. i dunno if the A-HD 720 or the Action HD would of done any better. Funny thing is, i thought the sound was going to give me the most problems, and i really have not had a prob with the sound.
I believe Aiptek does not have real inspecters no more, and the machenery inspecters pass them on, not good. it is posable that he cameras firs tstart needed to get its power or life in the cam then that's it. I had something simular and can describe as fading vid.
the senser may be the issue keep an eye on it or trade.
The blue lines and distortion just happened the 1st time i tried recording. Have not seen it since, but i will keep an eye on it. Firmware says V1.7, dunno if that is any good. I was trying to get an A-HD on ur recommendation, i drove to a Targe* that was out of the way cause they told me they had it and would hold it but it was the A-HD +. They just matched the price and i bought it, i really like it so far, i hope it does well. Thanks again Fishy.
1st off, thanks for your helpful videos! they are greatly appreciated. Aiptek A-HD + recording and had blue lines and distortion. turned off and tried again a min or two later and was able to record without the lines. Have u encountered this and what is the cause/solution? Thanks.
my firmware version says 1.404 does that mean its newer? are there any differences? icant seem to get any clear vidio out of it, as you can see on my channel the test i did
It is a problem only if you are an advanced user. I understand that a camera must work, and this one does it takes a longer time, and given the chance it will do so. the Af will hunt, it will go in /out a lil but some other compaines do that as well, not as bad
Very informative... I liked how you pointed out the defects and how to correct them... Even better was that you said it's upto the consumer to decide what kind of camera works best for them when all is said and done...
I have to admit--I LOVE my 720p. Thanks to free conversion and editing software, I have a great time with my camera. My ONLY complaint is the distortion from movement. Once I convert it to a DVD format file, I put it in WMM HD (comes free with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate), then once the file is edited, I can render up to 7.1Mbps, which is stunning, but NOT YT friendly. Do you have any cures for the distortion? I posted a night clip, too, and I have no complaints about REASONABLE night shots.
nice work!

A reply would be much help. Thank you! :)
CyanideHappiness01 2 years ago
It could be they give the same product a different name in different countries or regions. Try the Aiptek website
GWhizIneedAname 2 years ago
copyrighte, first of all. you can bypas if you have a caption card on the pc by hooking up video to thecaption, andsound to the sound then av input no othe fast way but real time recording
fishycomics 2 years ago
I own 3 aipteks and they have all been solid performers at a areasonable price. But I would like to know hot to download to the camera via the usb 2.0 cable from videos or hulu or msn tv, This would be a lot quicker than doing it hooked up to a TV/VCR, My intent is just to use it like a video ipod as well and watch shows while commuting. Feel free to mail me with solutions, thanks in advance

JSpraya 3 years ago
He shot this video with the Sanyo HD700, which is a pretty sweet (budget) camera. I rarely see "real" HD on YouTube. Most people post HD to Vimeo instead.
witchdoctor88 3 years ago
Oh the HD700 is a HD camera btw, 720p. Probably what I'll get instead after his review of the Aiptek.

so all the Aiptek A-Hd+ 1080P have the battery problem?
nata159 3 years ago
It's 5 stars for its price range.
Features-wise, I say it's 3 stars. The 1080p and 60 fps is the star feature of this camera. Other than that, it's really lacking optical zoom depth, external audio input, low-light video quality, and image stability.
End rule, "you get what you pay for" :)

I'm just wondering if you've used the TV capture feature or whatever. The thing where ya' hook up the camera to the TV through AV port or some technical jazz like that.
If so, how's the quality on that?

Did you realize the grey tab has writing on it?
And located below says HD out? you probably pulled the tab partially and only exposed the Ear head jack sybol. nah you just did not read the manual, nor know that the HD jack is video only that the RGBcables get pluged in including the standard tv sound only LOL. a video response hmmmm

I was loving this camera until i tried pulling it into my HTtv. In the TV-Out i only have an option for NTSC or PAL. WTF!!! Shouldn't there be a HDTV option????

fishycomics 3 years ago
I purchased the 1080P for 99.99 and will get $20 cash rebate in the mail. It is listed as regularly priced at $149.99. However, I am not sure that is correct, or a sales pitch. I hope it is a good camera for a beginner.
okleisure 3 years ago
I need to purchase an inexpensive camcorder for my eleven-year-old granddaughter for school projects. I was considering the aiptek A-HD+ 1080P (on sale for only $79.99). I know it is not the best camera, but is there a better one for the money for a pre-teen?

where was it on sale for $80
Branman1994 3 years ago

Let me know how it works if anyone tries this.
kevownage 3 years ago
NO.
new Model today are hs-HD, and HD1 they will have the input you are requesting soon to be released GVS with mic input as well
fishycomics 3 years ago
Does it have a mic input?
FlippytheMasterofPie 3 years ago
there is not muh one can do about the quality of the sound, there is Firmware that wil lower the sound in a -6db, and as well the video and other info thecompany will toss in.
they made newer versions today called the HS-HD the HD1 and GVS they all will ahve a ext mic .
will it be a better quality, I am not sure. this is a low budget cam, and onl way I can see is to Modd a mic, or use a sound recorder.
fishycomics 3 years ago
What can be done about the sound with the aiptek a-hd+1080P? Can an exterior mic be used with it? The sound is simply awful. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

fishycomics 3 years ago
i have NO video editing experience and have never uploaded a video on a computer, but for a newbie like myself, what editor would u recommend i start out with? i believe on this review u stated ur choice editor did not work well with the A-HD +. Thanks again for ur patience and your help.
sockonacho 3 years ago
sometimes it needs to be energisedwith power 1.7 not thebest is there a better Fw LOL nope
fishycomics 3 years ago
i have clearly come to notice that my A-HD + really needs bright light, i mean i read the reviews about low light, but i will be in a well lit room and still have to put the night vision on. i dunno if the A-HD 720 or the Action HD would of done any better. Funny thing is, i thought the sound was going to give me the most problems, and i really have not had a prob with the sound.
sockonacho 3 years ago
I believe Aiptek does not have real inspecters no more, and the machenery inspecters pass them on, not good. it is posable that he cameras firs tstart needed to get its power or life in the cam then that's it. I had something simular and can describe as fading vid.
the senser may be the issue keep an eye on it or trade.
fishycomics 3 years ago
The blue lines and distortion just happened the 1st time i tried recording. Have not seen it since, but i will keep an eye on it. Firmware says V1.7, dunno if that is any good. I was trying to get an A-HD on ur recommendation, i drove to a Targe* that was out of the way cause they told me they had it and would hold it but it was the A-HD +. They just matched the price and i bought it, i really like it so far, i hope it does well. Thanks again Fishy.
sockonacho 3 years ago
1st off, thanks for your helpful videos! they are greatly appreciated. Aiptek A-HD + recording and had blue lines and distortion. turned off and tried again a min or two later and was able to record without the lines. Have u encountered this and what is the cause/solution? Thanks.

is there any fisheye compatible with this camcorder???
idkskater1579 3 years ago
It is a problem only if you are an advanced user. I understand that a camera must work, and this one does it takes a longer time, and given the chance it will do so. the Af will hunt, it will go in /out a lil but some other compaines do that as well, not as bad
fishycomics 3 years ago
I enjoy both, Action
fishycomics 3 years ago
Thanks. Sorry but one more question. I read that the Action HD has a problem with it's optical zoom and auto focus, is it true?
9ALLEN9 3 years ago
NO. the A-HD and A-HD+ do not come in a bx, they come in a plastic container. I said. I wish Aiptek would ............
fishycomics 3 years ago
Thank you. One more question. Which model is better: The A-HD+ or the Action HD 1080p. Thanks.
9ALLEN9 3 years ago
So besides the optical zoom and auto focus, and the box, is there any other difference between the two? Which is better? Thanks!
9ALLEN9 3 years ago
So the A-HD+ is the one that comes in the box, correct?

I have to admit--I LOVE my 720p. Thanks to free conversion and editing software, I have a great time with my camera. My ONLY complaint is the distortion from movement. Once I convert it to a DVD format file, I put it in WMM HD (comes free with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate), then once the file is edited, I can render up to 7.1Mbps, which is stunning, but NOT YT friendly. Do you have any cures for the distortion? I posted a night clip, too, and I have no complaints about REASONABLE night shots.
