Miss the usa 1. i have one, wish someone would make a current fix for the dog bones. the only week link with the usa 1. i can over come the steering issue.
@BRMN8R using ultra bright white LEDs (5mm, 3v, 10000mcd) and a LD 1117 3v voltage regulator. Gives you always 3volt regardless the input. I used resistors first but it won't give you a stable 3v output especially when you accelerate.
Very cool! I have just acquired a USA-1 EP and am restoring the old girl. it already had the pink Mega Motor's, so have installed ball bearings and greased up all the suspension arms and steering linkages and stuck a better steering servo in it, but it's still running the rear steer aswell, and also the mechanical speed control. I have a restored 87 clod, a bullhead, and a txt-1, and this truck is a completely different animal! I really enjoyed your video! What are you using to run the lights?
Great truck but its using a wrong setup. It should go alot faster than a tamiya CLOD but thats not the case. USA1 uses a gear ratio of 1/20 with 21,000 rpm mega monster motors and still only does about 15 mph. Clod Buster uses 17,550 rpm 540 standard motors with a lower gear ratio 1/30 but does 11-12 mph, now thats not that far off.... something is very wrong here!
Great video! I've been wanting a clod to convert to a mod clod for racing and freestyle here but mainly I'll use my Mini Revo in the mini class for monster racing and freestyle but gotta love old school RC's especially the Clods and USA-1's with their 4WS, much ahead of their time.
Great video! I had a USA-1 probably about 12 years ago and I remember it being awesome when it ran, but it was plagued by short battery life, a LOT of issues with the steering, and it always stripped the dogbones. The 4WS was my favorite part of it when it did work though..
I had a USA-1 in the '90's and it was absolutely horrible!! Even though the USA-1 was faster and more agile than the Clod, it had a notorious steering problem (or should I say lack thereof) b/c of the friction, flex and slop in the stock steering set-up.
Long after upgrading to a "Sassy" chassis, I finally sold it a year ago after purchasing a Tamiya TXT-1 which is truly awesome!!
The fact that the USA-1 is all but gone while the Clod is still around says it all. Nice trucks/vid though!
ok, so i had an electric usa-1 and heres what happened, first i was only able to run it for two minutes cuz the mechanical speed control burned out, after that it would hardly turn because the servo provided couldn't turn the front wheels let along the back. then the battery would die out because of the two motors. so now i have to buy some 170 dollar super speed control. so now its been collecting dust. however i do wanna run it agian. what in all honesty didyou do to get it to run like that
I had installed two Kyoscho mega monstertruck engines and as speed control I use a LRP A.I.Automatic Super Reverse Digital with a limit of 13 turns. One engine have 21 turns so the speed control can handle two engines without a problem. It also have a selfmade alu chassis and two servos one for each axle.
@maddrummer910 hahaha man i totally know what you mean, the usa1 was a piece of shit compaired to the clod, the steering blew, the plastic drive shafts twisted and stripped, i didnt even run mine with the stock esc, i went right to an electronic one. i eventually went to a sassy chassis stretch chassis and a 1/4 scale servo and mip cvd's... then it hauled ASS !!!
The USA-1. The stock suspension on the USA-1 is way better. All in all, the USA-1 runs circles around a stock Clod. I used to own a USA-1 and a friend of mine a Clod Buster.
the usa 1 looks like it has independent suspension. is the true?? guess im a die hard and want solid axles under my monster, more scale. still a good video
The USA-1`s suspension looks stock. I had one of these back in the 90`s as a kid. In stock form the USA-1 handles much better than a Clod, it really handles quite nicely.
