  • @kk83y If your shun is rusting, you aren't taking care of it properly. You should be washing it right away after use. No soaking in water. No dishwasher. Good knives made of real steel will rust if not taken care of properly.

  • @basstremor 1st shun is made by VG10 stainless steel, ideally it shouldn't rust, i did everything as a normal chef wold do, wipe after cut, hand wash the knife, i own lots of good kitchen knife made by aogami super and Shirogami steel(white#1&2) known as high carbon steel knife, they rust very easier then VG10 steel, upon untill now, they still holds the raze charp edge and hasn't rust, no doubt shun is a pretty knife, but in turn of sharp and edge holder, u be the judge.

  • shun is a crap knife, i am so dispoint at this knife, i am using this for 3 month and it start to rust on the blade, i bought shun 8 inch chef knife for 300 aud, and this is what i get for a rusting knife, you buy shun if you you want a good looking knife, but if you are a chef and wanting a good working knife, DON'T BUY A SHUN KNIFE, YOU WILL BE VERY dispoint at SHUN KNIFE.

  • @kk83y you're probably one of those people who just don't take care of there knives .. shame on u >:C

  • @Ltb0b i took care of my knife like a baby, i did everything as a normal chef wold do, wipe after cut, hand wash the knife, i own lots of high carbon knife, Aogami super steel & Shirogami(#1&#2), upon untill know they still hold up the raze sharp edge, and no rust on the blade, have you ever used high carbon knife before? if not let me see how long you can hold the rust on a Shirogami knife, shame on me? maybe shame on you...

  • @kk83y if only you knew anything about what your talking about. I still can't believe some people don't know how to use google. Or that anyone would drop 300 aud without knowing what their buying. Must be nice being loaded.

  • @aznju no matter how much is any of my knife is, i take care of all, from top of my collection Boker Damascus Superior (brought on boker web site $1550euro) to my daily use chinese cleaver $50 aud, i own lots of high carbon knife, like Aogami super & Shirogami 1&2, they are much easier rust then a VG10 steel, but untill now they still hasn't rust yet, collecting knife is only one of my hobbies, being loaded, maybe not

  • @kk83y Even if it is a fluke you really had to do something wrong with your knife to get to rust steel in it's self very much the way you were descirbing "The shun is crap knife" shun knives aren't the best money for it imo. High carbon steels are more susceptible to rust yes but if you take care of the knife correctly it should not rust even if it did it won't completely just loose its edge and become "crap" alot of chefs I know use these line of knives and have not seen any problems

  • @kk83y Maybe you bought a fake Shun Knife? Especially if you buy from online stores like eBay. Doesn't seem like you're mistreating them. If you have some money, I say you give them another chance. They are excellent knives. I hear that BB and Beyond sales them.

  • You need to remake this in hd

  • Sad to see this as a low res, audio distorted video. Alton, and especially those knives, if you're trying to sell them; TheCooksWarehouse... deserve better.

  • WOW Alton... "Now if you don't like the idea of something long and pointy, flapping around..."
