Stop ranting people, this is an old video, this could be helpful for some people. The concept of arranging the parts / hardware of the computer is there but if you're looking for wire connections look for another video. peace.
I'd suggest installing graphics card before PCI cards simply because graphics cards can be huge and block access to some PCI slots. It'd be annoying to install your PCI cards and then realize you're going to have to move them to fit your graphics card.
@somebrownguy07 Just a matter of compatible inputs, the hard part is organizing it efficiently for cooling and little to no contact with delicate hardware (namely the mobo), but that varies by case i would think.
@andreasfup Perhaps, but you dont have to. Of course, it might make it simpler. (By the way, it appears hes already done that, hence the heat sink on the motherboard as hes installing the mobo)
@HallyVids it was probably just for the video, easy stuff, even an old dell would be good for teaching how to assemble, due to the fact that there all basically the same
This video is extremely out dated as well as missing all the details which is the most important part. He covers just sliding the parts in but anyone can figure that out. When it comes to building a computer its the little details that people miss/skip. If you are looking to assemble a computer you really should check out (elitepcbuilding . com). Its a very new website that goes into extreme detail with great pictures.
His other videos go into more detail, this just goes over the basic steps. I personally found it useful, now I can look into the steps I don't know how to do, and ignore the videos covering steps that I am familiar with or don't apply to my build.
@APinCF1224 Yes, but make sure the power supply you get has enough SATA connectors for it. It should say somewhere in the description of whatever Power Supply you get(PSU) how many SATA connectors you have. Like Raxer said, make sure you you boot from the one with your OS on it.
@callofdutyguy9 Some motherboards come with integrated sound that will supply sound without the need for a separate sound card. The specs of the motherboard should tell you if it has integrated sound or not. Although, if you do care about sound quality, I would go for a separate sound card. They supply much better sound quality than integrated sound on a motherboard.
my computer got broken. When I turn it on, monitor light flashes orange, and it does not turn green...what is wrong with that? Any help is appreciated...
@sara46762 it happened to me too. there seemed to be a lot of dust in the pc fan so it got very hot and fried... but now i have a new one and much better :D
@AppA first off, its called ground yourself, second off its not a protip, its a common-sense tip, and lastly nobody would know what IC's are, stop trying to sound clever your embarrising yourself.
Its cheaper to buy your computer parts online or at a factory outlet and assemble it yourself, but its not recommended for computer newcomers. It also isn't necessary unless you're looking for a high-performance computer or a gaming pc, and so on.
@micro1087 Case matters for lots of things, like how much room you have for add-ons, and most importantly, for airflow. Bad airflow means higher temperatures. Which means shorter lifespan.
how to assemble a factory like computer... custom pc's normaly have cable managment (hardly see any) good kooling systems not cheap fans.. anti vibration pads, filters, now if ur a nerd good graphics cards, prolly 3 hardrive bays, good ram, sexy case too :)
You actually want to install everything on the motherboard first (RAM, Video Card, etc.) then install the motherboard into the case, and you also wnat to install the processor last...So that you're not touching it too much.
Very easy to do indeed. Take a look at the big picture, label if needed. Remembering where smaller wires was the challenge at first, but everything usually goes in one area due to the connection plugs design. Lol helps being a computer network engineer as well. But I learned from just paying close attention to what I was doing and alittle trial and error. BTW- nice vid to help the first timers :)

@krumpinAnnanth if you have more than one agp /pci-e slot on your motherboard, your pwor supply can handle two then you shouild be good.
and graphcs cards should be the same model as well to prevent any incompatibility

That is true...but its also..... kind of a generalization. My dad still uses, and likes he's 2003 year old dell (256mb ram, pentanium, 2.53ghz)
All we did is reformat it, once, because the OS was corrupt.
