true, i had so much trouble with mine. The screws at the bottom always popped out . after about 4 months most of the screws were lost.

hard drive failed after a week had to get a new 1.

The hinges are held up by plastic and will break if it takes a small bump.

atm my inspiron has no display to it cus of the plastic around the hinges. I took off the display to make into a desktop pc lol . worst way to spend $699

Who dosent like inspirons? I dont...If your going to buy from dell, buy a latitude. They have the same or even better specs for the same, or even lower proce, and there affordable on every buget. They start at 500, and the majority of the line i smade on magnesium for durability.

i had one magor problem with mine and i dont know if it was dell or vista to blame but tried to install sp1 it installed it shutdown and when it restarted it diddent work had to get a boffin to fix it vista coulend reinstall he had to take it out (hard drive) and do it off his 10,000 pc but i think it is vista fult outher problems to keep reper cost down i said i could reinstall all drivers etc but when it came to wireless i had to reinstall driver 3 times befor it would work

i have had no problems with the hard drive but ive had afew with the screen and charger 1 time i was tired and shut the screen with earphones in and left it on sleep opened it up 15 minuetes later and i couldnt read the screen it just had loads of multi coulerd lines all over it so i had to buy a new screen -_-

I have 3 laptop and i have to say that out of the three of them i love the inspiron 1525 the most. had it for over a year now and never ran into any problems. but the first thing i did to it when i got it was downgrade to win xp pro. was a really good move on my part. just installed the sims 3 and not expecting any problems... try downgrading and see how that works out. keep in mind that most of these dells have in a SATA HD. so it can be rather difficult to down grade.

- I've had several BSoD's...

- Hard drive failure twice, one time fatal and had to get a new one.

- Over heating

- Updates don't install anymore...

- Wireless won't work at all sometimes, and I have to disable and re enable the hardware for my wireless card (which isn't a big deal...)

and I have a video of my hard drive clicking, and that's when it died

Spore will run from this laptop on medium just fine. Rayman 3 (I believe it was released in 2003) will probably work since the newest games that the x3100 can handle is any game before 2005.

Depends on what games you are talking about. Old games shouldn't be a problem, newer games will hardly run. If you get one with a stand-alone graphics card (8800gt or so) it'll be fine, with an onboard card you'll have your problems
