The cost of power under the carbon tax will be far higher then without. Nuclear would be a good idea, but you know what? Ms gillard is proposing solar and wind, two currently incredibly inefficient ways to produce power. The infrastructure costs of most power stations are already paid for, but under a carbon tax we will be paying more as they pass on the price to the consumers. The Arctic was melting up until 2007, and yes dire predictions were made as usual, but instead of 'ice free summers' as early as 2013, they have now revised their predictions to '2018' since it's been growing back. @Crankato might want to check about bolt being a journalist and expert researcher. Given that he seems to have such an expert indepth understanding perhaps he can submit his findings to peer-review like what the majority of scientest who state that Global warming is indeed a fact.

@Heffsta02 This is actually a problem: Of the scientists most quoted as having demonstrated indisputable evidence, the majority have NOT allowed themselves to be openly peer-reviewed, and this is the main complaint by the science community. Demanding to see the data is not denial or scepticism, it is how science works. In any case, the problem being discussed is about a useless tax, not whether climate change is real, and confusing the two is idiotic spin. I'm a Carbon Tax Denier & Sceptic.

The land gets hotter during the day and gets colder at night.
The whole east coast of Australia has been cleared for farming and housing.
Air that used to pass through those forrests got cooled before going inland now that same airflow becomes hotter as it flows over the hot earth.
That is man made climate change that had nothing to do with god.
My advice to you is to wake up to yourself.
