@UncleMark13 YES I DID, I got them on the first day of the presale(I was the happiest girl in the world! I'm sure it's going to be the best concert I'll ever see!
Look at all this beautiful footage of the original Wall shows. If only Roger could release this on DVD and Blu Ray, including the show when both Dave and Nick made their special appearances at the O2 Arena.
Pink Floyd, The Wall Live at Earl's Court 1980 DVD, Pink Floyd Live in Oakland 1977 3-disc 2CD/DVD set available at Tommygun Video, please see our youtube channel for video/audio clips/link to web site/more info
Roger doesn't believe in god. Yet he's human, humanitarian, and observer and compassionate, believes in love. He's a great representative of those that don't need a god to be good. Non-believers have virtues just as strong as those who "believe". He's experienced pain, separation, frustration, love, understanding, patience.
It takes real STRENGTH to find solutions on your own, in his case, he did it with MUSIC. Which is incredibly powerful and as a language, NOT an ART, should be respected.
God, I wish Roger would release the original footage! It looks awesome in the few little parts he has in this video. I'm betting that it would be the best selling concert dvd of all time if he did release it. Roger, if you're reading this, please release it, so that we can see the best concerts of all time!!!
does anyone else think the original footage they use at times like 1:38 look fantastic? i hope they release it! it looks as though maybe they made the original film usable after all... they should also release their animals concerts
I think there must be something wrong with the judge, 98 percent of the songs are roger waters creations, he can do whatever the fuck he wants with them, he does not need permission from anyone to sing his own songs.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed." --Dwight D. Eisenhower
For those not aware, Roger Waters and David Gilmore went to court over who own and who can play parts of the Pink Floyd music. The decision was made that Roger could still perform "The Wall". If I were the judge, I would have ruled in neither, threw the lawsuit to the garbage can, and tell both Roger and David to settle it on their own. Outside of that, I personally think the artists of "Pink Floyd" are VERY good, and regardless of who you like, both Roger and David are worth seeing live.
@richardmorrison78 David Gilmour was NOT even an ORIGINAL member of Pink Floyd! He replaced Syd Barret (sort of) , the genius of 2 that was the one to go insane (RIP). Then there was 1 genius and 3 great musicians...Gilmour one of the great....not genius! Roger Waters actually has far more right and credential than Gilmour to perform anything Pink Floyd released prior to Rogers departure. before he left.....was there anything really worth playing after he left?
Dark Side Of The Moon was a band effort, Roger wrote the music but everyone was involved. Wish You Were Here was also a band effort but Waters & Gilmour took a more active role. It wasn't until Animals, The Wall, and The Final Cut that he took over. The Wall was his personal masterpiece. I also love Dark Side & Wish You Were Here. Waters alone wouldnt have made Dark Side or WYWH. After the split, Roger made a GREAT album called Amused To Death and I loved Gilmours Floyd Division Bell!
@STEVEMOR909 Animals is probably my favorite PF album along with the sans Gilmour debut Piper at the Gates of Dawn.. I've been bored by post Waters Floyd but really enjoyed 'Radio Kaos' and was fortunate enough to see the very 1st (Portland, ME) and very last(Providence, RI) shows of the US tour. All band members were involved in EVERY album, Roger just happened to be the main force.
@sbyre888 Yes, don't even say that ' the Division Bell' is a shit album just because you like to pull your cock listening to Roger Waters. Both are talented in their own ways so you shouldn't belittle one to heap praise on the other.
@irena7777777 Why are you so angry that David Gilmour bores me? Honestly, I never listen to anything Pink Floyd related nowadays, except an occasional play of Animals (once a year maybe?) I am sorry for you if you twidle your twat to David Gilmour......Pink Floyd tour without Roger Waters had a 4 - piece playing behind the 3-remaining members.....why ddn't they just get a new bass player?
@sbyre888 Because Roger Waters is so fucking great, they needed an extra 3 people to replace him. Answer me this then - why did Gilmour have to compose and then demonstrate Waters' basslines before he got the hang of them himself? Probably because Waters is a better musician than Gilmour, isn't it?!
I seen a performance of the wall in Atlanta last night and I am just amazed how current this piece still is. Roger Waters is brilliant and sounded great.
@somethinglikelife1 how was it? gotta keep waiting for almost a year till i can enjoy it in germany but i have the tickets its nearly sold out already! CaNT wAIT
@golluba actually im reading a book by danny goldberg who worked for zeppelin and he talks about them smashing hotel rooms, especially bonham and jones when they felt that their rooms were smaller than robert's and jimmy's.
3. I can't believe Roger would stoop this low. Ticket prices were INSANE. I was mainly disappointed that he would ask for the prices he was asking for.
Like I said, great show, 8/10, worth the money, but I shouldn't have had to pay it.
Alright, I will admit the show was amazing, but I'm going to be straight:
1. During an interview with Jim Ladd, it was said that he was going to use "the most state of the art sound sytem ever used in any concert hall." It did not sound like it. Not very much surround sound, just a ton of volume.
2. For being "anti-capitalist," the merch was fucking EXPENSIVE. The cheapest adult shirt I saw was $40. The rest were $50. Hoodies were $65 and a shitty blue collar was $70.
@OpIvyDude Had front row seats in the 70s for 30 dollars.I do think this current tour is worth the price. Roger is quite the capitalist. In Philadelphia the sound was great.I had an issue with people standing for the whole show.peace
@tehbrave1 Im going to all 3 shows. Tuesdays crowd was loud. Can,t wait till tomorrow. Best show I have seen-since2007 Dark Side of the Moon. I can,t get enough. One more eargasm to go. Peace
Can anybody tell me, if it's worth the money for a real fan of PF who thinks that, even if Roger Waters wrote most of the songs, the sound of PF can not exist without the Voice & Charisma of David Gilmore?
I feel weird thinking of seiing PF live with so many Guest Musicians and another Singer.
Is there any Live Footage of the 2010 Shows? Does it really sound like PF? Do they play other songs live after the "The Wall" Show ?
I saw it October 13th. It was an amazing experience, a multimedia experience, you should be a part of. Sure it's not the original Pink Floyd, but it's the next best thing, which is still really incredible.
No, they don't play an encore after "The Wall" but that's understandable seeing as how he doesn't want to distract from the message he projects with the show.
You've made a point there: The Wall is a conceptual work, so it has to be presented as a "standalone".
anyway, i wish to see PF live someday with gilmore and a setlist like the one on "Pulse" DVD. many legendary musicians die these days, hope to see them before they're all gone :(
by far the best show i have ever seen. anyone who considers themselves a fan of floyd and hasn't seen this show needs to go see it. well worth the price
I completely agree with this comment ( posted by others) I have seen it some friends I know. Can't wait till the Columbus Ohio show! TGIF Show. However, I do think that there is a *spark* of belief in Roger of "GOD.. I just think that he is afraid to admit it.
I have a feeling that it all comes back to the loss of his father when he was still a baby. Under those circumstances, the loss of a parent can cause one to feel a potential lifelong animosity toward God. Almost a "Why Me?" outlook.
Roger is an intelligent man. I love hearing him speak. Going to see him in Vancouver. I saw him in 2007 for the dark side of the moon tour-- it was awesome
just saw this show tonight in Hartford - do not miss this show! Not only is it utterly amazing, but it puts things in perspective regarding the harsh realities of this world.
And I thought that there would not be anything that would top visually and sonically U2's 360 Tour...but Roger has proved us all wrong with his out of this world Wall performance and ultimate audio-visual experience of a lifetime, my chance is coming Nov. 20th!!
That's what I'm talking about. I went to the Oct.1st show in Boston and it was fucking insanely amazing. Greatest show on earth and will be difficult to ever top!!
What he says in this couldn't have been said better. It's not just a song, it's an entire life experience, that is relatedle by anyone, if they would only really get the whole point of it.
I've been a Pink Floyd fan for a very long time and always will be, that won't change. But as trollcrusher242 said, the fate of a man's soul if he believe he or she has one, is in his or her own hands.
Since NO ONE can SPEAK FOR GOD..how can anyone say WHAT GOD WANTS.. Roger is RIGHT in EVERYTHING he says. Toleration of the system standard leads to the last round up.
h t t p : / / w w w . rogerwaters . com/fallen-loved-ones
HUMANS need the protection of THE RULE OF LAW.
The trick would be for US to agree upon what THE LAW should be NOW, (something WE have been working on for a few hundred years), but also to agree that as WE develop OUR understanding of both OURSELVES and OUR surroundings, WE will have insights and may need to modify THE LAWS that govern US.
As a long time Pink Floyd fan, I do admire Roger's creative gift. However, I do think that there is a *spark* of belief in Roger of "God" ... I just think that he is afraid to admit it.
I have a feeling that it all comes back to the loss of his father when he was still a baby. Under those circumstances, the loss of a parent can cause one to feel a potential lifelong animosity toward God. Almost a "Why Me?" outlook.
The most inspirational and brilliant words come from this man. And its a wonderful revalation that he thinks as all other free thinkers think, that there is no God and there is no Soul, and that with this knowledge we can have absolute love for all humanity and all living things without the belief in a higher power that will punish or reward us for believing in him or not. Religion is War. and thats what he is singing about.
I don't know if I can agree that religion itself is war petike. Politicians wage war, not god. Waters brings some very interesting questions to light, I agree. And I think if he was truly asked if he accepts those who accept god as their savior he would say yes he does since he seems to crusade for acceptance.
I've seen him twice now. It wasn't just The Wall, but all facets of Floyd and have been moved beyond the norm. Roger is so relevant in what he performs and cares deeply in what he presents. It was magical and I applaud anything he does. He is truly an artist and puts on a a show that will raise awareness toward many pallets.
@bertie4evr absolutely! I was at Nassau Coliseum, Feb. 26 1980. Would love to see official band film from original Wall concerts! they should be great!!
Saw the show last night, it was my first concert and will be the best I have and will ever see. The animations and pyrotechnics are absolutely amazing! Long Live Roger!
I am SO Glad that Roger has finally brought "The Wall" to the Rest of the U.S. that didn't get a chance to see the show First Time around... what... 30 years ago?
I'm originally from Chicago, but I saw the first go round with Floyd in L.A. (they only played New York and L.A.) -- I have described the show to my friends back east in great detail over the past 30 years, so now, I am getting a Flood of Phone Call the past few days from friends, telling me they Finally know why I would go on and on.
We went to Monday & Tuesday show in Chicago...Holy CRAP! Roger, you brought it even *more* than I thought you would, and I am a freak for you and your genius. I've gone to your shows all over in past years, but you still blew my mind with this incredible show. So glad I get to attend a few more shows...I wish everyone could get to experience this awesome concert. WE LOVE YOU ROGER, SO MUCH!!!
i was there, absolutely fucking amazing, absolutely worth every penny that my brother spent, haha! srsly tho, if you can find a family member to sucker into paying for you, GO TO THIS SHOW, you've still got a few nights left! be sure to acquire some.....funny substance, or not cause it's going to blow your head off either way.
Hey i saw the wall last night in chicago, I had nose bleed seats but i guess roger buys a whole section of seats and he brings down some people to better seats. I got front row mezzanine about 1/3 back from the stage. WOW thank you mr waters
Absolutely, there is an element of the 'powers that be' that want the populace to be sedated, mindless, drones that help acquire greater power and wealth for the company store.
I'm going to the Pittsburgh show in 13 days. This will be my 3rd time seeing Roger play live. Radio Kaos in 86 in Indy, In The Flesh in 99 in Indy, and now The Wall. I'm taking my 16 year old son with me who is new to Floyd, but begged me to take him. Having listened to his music for going on 30 years now, I think this concert, with my son, may be the perfect crescendo to a life made better because Roger Water's music was in it. My world anyways...
Dude your 16 year old son asked you to take him......smoke one of his joints with him and bond like FOVEREVER IN HIS HEART....and all of our....so COOL
Roger , te veo en Argentina..-

"Blessed, thank God. If there was a God. There isn't Obviously. But if there was a God, one would thank him for that."
This interview has given me so much more respect for Roger Waters.

HUMANS need the protection of THE RULE OF LAW.
The trick would be for US to agree upon what THE LAW should be NOW, (something WE have been working on for a few hundred years), but also to agree that as WE develop OUR understanding of both OURSELVES and OUR surroundings, WE will have insights and may need to modify THE LAWS that govern US.
trollcrusher242 1 year ago
Continued from above ...
THE LAW should not be written in STONE.
Please take note all followers of MOSES and other dead prophets.
Which leads me neatly to my next point.
In my view.
RELIGION provides A WALL between US and the reality of OUR lives.
- Roger Waters
As a believer in God, Jesus, The Holy Ghost, and the Holy Bible, I take a bit of umbrage at Roger's statement with regard to "Religion".
However, the fate of his soul (whether he belives he has one or not) is in his hands.
trollcrusher242 1 year ago
However, I do enjoy Roger's incredible talent, vision, creativity, and musical genius. Truly a very gifted individual.
I just disagree with his position on God. Honestly, the Will of God is so far beyond the capacity of our mere human rationalizations:
As per Isaias / Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts: nor your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are exalted above the earth, so are my ways exalted above your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts.

@trollcrusher242
I support your comment. Those who don't want to know God will never know or experience God. Hopefully one day, Roger will.
jm31563 1 year ago
@jm31563
Thanks for your kind comment of support.
Almost a "Why Me?" outlook.
trollcrusher242 1 year ago
Bravo!! Great show in Boston!! I agree with him 100%.
Why do people get offended if he doesn't believe in God? Just enjoy the music.
JTCBoston 1 year ago
The most inspirational and brilliant words come from this man. And its a wonderful revalation that he thinks as all other free thinkers think, that there is no God and there is no Soul, and that with this knowledge we can have absolute love for all humanity and all living things without the belief in a higher power that will punish or reward us for believing in him or not. Religion is War. and thats what he is singing about.
WE LOVE YOU ROGER WATERS.!!!
petike555 1 year ago
@petike555
I don't know if I can agree that religion itself is war petike. Politicians wage war, not god. Waters brings some very interesting questions to light, I agree. And I think if he was truly asked if he accepts those who accept god as their savior he would say yes he does since he seems to crusade for acceptance.
Highpsi 1 year ago
Roger: you should probably take that comment back...you know...the one you made about there not being a God...
557715625 1 year ago
I did not know that Roger Waters views himself as either an agnostic or an athiest.
I am saddened to learn this about him.
I would have thought that with everything that he has gone through, that he would have a belief in a "Higher Power".
A brilliant musician, artist, etc. but what it worth to a man that he gain the whole world yet lose his soul?
trollcrusher242 1 year ago

I've seen him twice now. It wasn't just The Wall, but all facets of Floyd and have been moved beyond the norm. Roger is so relevant in what he performs and cares deeply in what he presents. It was magical and I applaud anything he does. He is truly an artist and puts on a a show that will raise awareness toward many pallets.
