I recall seeing a version of this video that primarily featured or exclusively featured the dancer with the bird beak. I remember being blown away by the sound-image combination that really brought out the amazing layers and beat that made me love this song. Does anyone recall seeing something like this? ...Heavy D was a class act.
There has been an immense outpouring of condolences for the passing of the Overweight Lover Heavy D. But what is it exactly about this artist that made his passing SO hurtful to his legions of fans? In my estimation, Heavy D had that elusive quality that so many artists lack. He was able to bring JOY to people. It was joyous to hear him rhyme, listen to his message, marvel at his dancing, admire his swagger, and MOST OF ALL, be a perfect hiphop ambassador. PEACE MY BROTHER TWILL NEVER BE ANOTHER
One of THE artists from the 80's and 90's that got me listening to hip-hop, and it's a shame to see the man go too soon. An artist from the Golden Age of rap and hip hop music, the likes of which we'll never see again. R.I.P. Heavy D.
Rap legend Heavy D -- one of the most influential rappers of the '90s -- died earlier today ... TMZ has learned.
Heavy D -- real name Dwight Arrington Myers -- was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon today ... and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 PM. He was 44 years old.
All love due to the ORIGINAL Overweight Lover. You will surely be missed.
