  • What is that last image from?

  • Elder God: Emtiereal.

    Yog Sothoth" Nib Shiggerath

  • i'm new to lovecraft's stories, sorry.

  • what i dont get is how lovecraft describes yog sothoth as 13 globes, yet all these illustrations depict him as more grotesquely tentacled.

i thought the tentacled creature was the one in the dunwich horror?

even though that was yog sothoth's son.

or it that yog sothoth's shape transposes to the tentacled shape in our dimension?

  • Comment removed

  • @InfiniteMisery003 Take a moment to consider that Yog Sothoth, and many other Elder Gods, are only described as having certain shapes because thats how we can try to understand them. I highly doubt that most Elder Gods have much more than a passing interest in the concept of form, aside from Nyarlathotep of course, but he keeps changing his.

  • the narrator is amazing its nox arcana isnt it?

  • @lionmane3131 No it's nox.

  • Sweet This Gaem Looks SICK WHEN ITS COMEING OUT?

  • What race of Lovecraftian beings use Shaggoths as slaves to build their cities?

  • @periwinkle102 The Old Ones who lived in Antarctica.

  • @mujerado Ahhhhhhh Thank you!

  • who would win in a fight? Cthulhu oor yog-sothoth?

  • @TheWireCorpse You mean who would win a fight betwen the horribly twisted thing that is the powerfull but still limited Great Old one Cthulu, highpriest of madness versus the being who is all space and all time everywhere forever Yog-Sothoth who is posibly the only thing that could duke it out with Azatoth and not get insta-killed?

Yog. Yog by miles. Yog rips Cthulu a new one so bad that the universe ends.

  • @MsMorphic Wait a second...do they? Don't artists and composers sometimes love it too? ;)

  • Very cool image at the end. Who was the artist for the final image? (if known)

  • 0:34 THAT'S A GOD DAMN SHOGGOTH

  • Am I the only one thinking Sam & Max?

  • the descendants of hominidae have their unique blend for magic, and that´s technology ( the cyclotron or god machine, for instance ). the elder gods, if they ever awake, will find humans reinvented hell, and there´ll be war.

  • Yog Sothoth is the tentacle porn monster :D

  • @greywildfox

    no thats Y'golonac The Defiler

  • @sirtophatandmoncle Is he a shape-changer? I don't think he has tentacles, does he?

  • @SheSaysSoIndeed

you do NOT want to know

  • @greywildfox Eyo, no, that's either gonna be Cthulhu or the film-adapted version of Dagon. ;) Yog-Sothoth has bigger fish to fry.

  • Yog Sothoth = FSM?

  • @Khrome1 More like FSM's boss.

  • Lol is it weird I actually believe this stuff? x)

  • @Lawliet3843 no, just retarded

  • @Lawliet3843 There's another word for it...

  • @MsMorphic haha, oh well :P

  • @MsMorphic haha, a country of robots, perhaps? machines, droids, robots, all interconnected and living and breathing. i think it kinda sounds nice

  • @MsMorphic indeed it is. but you must remember the notion of "Sanity" is held within the hands of the majority. if the insane people because the majority, who KNOWS what would happen. maybe everything would turn out perfectly fine, maybe not. the point i'm trying to get is just because someone may have mental issues, or may be clinically insane, does not mean they are incapable of understanding you, or comprehending things

  • @MsMorphic are you saying that as a personal motto, or do you believe it to be fact?

  • i wish i had control of all of these things by hp lovecraft

  • @ringsofsaturn666 the second you stop concentrating, they would devour you :P

  • @hiimquinn well wat if i was satan can i control them then

  • @ringsofsaturn666 well seeing as most people describe Nyarlethotep as Satan, and he's not the most powerful...

haha, even though i am a Satanist myself, i'm probably gonna go with no

  • @ringsofsaturn666 Did HP Lovecraft even have control of them? I doubt it...(Maybe he's one of them now!)

  • @SheSaysSoIndeed maybe

  • @MsMorphic not at all. at this point, i cannot reason with you :P, yet you seem to understand my point perfectly fine

  • @MsMorphic it doesn't take logic or reasoning to understand and comprehend something. all it takes is an open mind. which Azathoth (by the fact that he can create whole universes in his dreams) definitely has

  • @MsMorphic you seem to be under the perceived notion that insane people cannot comprehend things. if you look all throughout time, some of the worlds smartest, or most talented people had some type of mental disorder. some were even classified as insane. but if thats not good enough, then i give you this example. if you spoke to Azathoth directly, he would be able to understand and comprehend to what your saying perfectly, but his reaction would have no logic or reason behind it

  • @MsMorphic haha, but as i said at the beggining; Azathoth can understand things perfectly fine. he simply cannot make rational choices based on logical points. does that mean he is corrupted? of course not. evil? no. in fact, the best way to describe him would be to simply say he's....insane

  • @MsMorphic rest assured i agree with you, though, that the Ancient Ones are unaware of how fragile our minds are. just because something is a spiritual being, however, doesn't mean it's not affected by moral's or ethics. in fact, every Elder God or Ancient one has their own personality, some are nice and benevolent, others far less so. simply because of their own morals or ethics. what your saying is that morals cannot effect the scope of their thinking, which is false

  • @MsMorphic but Azathoth himself is not evil. he's chaotic, but there is a difference between destruction/chaos and evil. you wouldn't call a tornado evil, would you? nor would you say that about the winds that created it. it just happens, same with Azathoth's orders. he is incapable of structured thought, so every order or idea he has is made out of a dream. it may not help, may not have any reason, may even be downright stupid, but it's still just there.

  • @MsMorphic ahh, but they are fully aware. thats what i'm saying. hell, i believe their are more then a few gods who specialize in knowing EVERYTHING there is to know. and it's not as if Azathoth's an asshole, all the gods just recognize him as their king (for whatever reason) and follow him. besides, i'm pretty sure their was a case where Azathoth himself actually SAVED an elder being as an act of honor and chivalry

  • Comment removed

  • Yog-Sothoth > Azathoth

  • @MsMorphic ah, but i never said they were GOOD, i said they wearn't evil. and even if a few of them are dreaming, it doesn't mean they don't do anything, and they certainly AREN'T helpless. and, i know this may sound weird, but even though a few of them are gods of chaos, madness, and destruction, i don't think their corrupted. they know exactly what they are doing, and all act towards the will of their king. and he (at the moment) is dreaming

  • @MsMorphic

Thats all very nice, but there's a flaw... good is relative.

If you ever played Spyro, Malefor is considered the most evil of dragons because he wants to bring the end of the world. In his point of view, he is doing something good because he hopes that by destroying the world, a new one may arise, better than the last. But according to the "common good", he is evil, plain and simple. It all goes down to how you view it. THere's no good and evil, just titles we give.

  • @MsMorphic not necessarily. i for one enjoy violence and conflict, yet i am not a bad person

  • @MsMorphic comparing greek horrors to creatures beyond time, space, even the fabric of reality and death is simply redundant. religions most powerful god's pose no more threat to the ancient ones then the worlds most powerful termite's

  • this images dont't look the least bit alike from one another so which one does he really look like?

  • @evilfrogstudios Wouldn't we like to know. Oh wait, no, we wouldn't....(!)

  • @Mountaind3ws WoW copies tons of stuff, but the lovecraft-stuff they add is awlays awesome

  • i dont think yog-sothoth is evil, he even helped Randolph Carter.

i thought the only real evil being is azathoth the dark ruler...

other outer gods and great old ones have just different concepts of ethics which could humans interpret as "evil"

  • @Itachi21x Yog-Sothoth is not evil, he is simply there. Hastur is not evil (in fact, he's one of the most compassionate ancient ones), he simply finds joy in insanity. Shub-Niggurath is not evil, she makes sure everything can grow and thrive to the best of it's ability. Nyarlathotep is not evil, he simply follows orders. (as do Cthulhu and Dagon). none of the gods, even Azathoth, are truly "evil". they simply do what they think is best, just like the ones who appose them

  • i thought yog was a buch of glowing orbs?

  • I love the picture at (0:45).

  • HAIL ME!

  • is this the basis of where people now go on about that joke religion the flying spaghetti monster? is it based on this ancient one and people reference Lovecraft without even knowing it?

  • I reckon most people who go on about this joke religion of the flying spaghetti monster could be referencing Azathoth with out knowing it maybe?

  • @SceneboyGROWL Nah. Star spawn are creations of Cthulhu. Azathoth is one of, if not the, most powerful of the Outer Gods. The Outer Gods are essentially that, beings of infinite power. Azathoth could destroy the universe with but a thought, so he is kept entertained between dimensions.

Cthulhu on the other hand is simply one of the more powerful Great Old Ones which, while seeming of infinite power to us, are just very powerful aliens, not gods at all.

  • @Grigeral but the Great Old Ones are worshipped by the Deep Ones, are they not?

  • @9movierox Only Cthulhu is worshipped by the Deep Ones. Keep in mind, both Mother Hydra and Father Dagon are not in fact Great Old Ones, they are just Deep Ones who have grown to immense sizes.

I am not saying that they are not godlike to us, sure. They have each got worshippers and cultists.

All I mean, is that their power, unlike the Outer Gods, is not infinite. Azathoth could destroy the entire universe with but a thought. No Great Old One is that powerful :)

  • @Grigeral Mother Hydra and Father Dragon are star spawns of Cthulhu from what i heard. i already knew that their power is not infinite, because the Great Old Ones are imprisoned for like practicing dark magic or some unknown blasphemy against the Outer Gods.

  • @9movierox They may have gotten upgraded to star spawn later, but all I've ever read just refers to them as gigantic deepones.

All I've read on star spawn is that they look like mini-versions of Cthulhu himself. May be wrong on that one

    though.

  • ... wait... at 0:15 ... is that... the flying spaghetti monster?

  • I think yogsothoth is somethin superior then the category of Azathoth... He knows it all, he is the key, he is the gate, he is the time... Why do you think wizards want his knowledge?

  • i've heard azothoth is the strongest. The lesser gods that surround him provide music so he isnt let llose for even a split second the music stops he,it,can destroy our universe.I also heard cthulu is the 2nd strongest as he made yog-sothoth from his flesh

  • @epicbros100 You're wrong. Cthulhu was born and still has boundaries, even as the strongest of the Old Ones. Yog-Sothoth is god of time and space, beyond any known dimensions, shifting reality and history with his own will and as old as time itself. I think Yog-Sothoth would beat Cthulhu's ass like Cthulhu would beat ours.

  • I'a dude

  • well i dont know who is the greatest, though there is a quote in wiki that says yog- sothoth is, but one thing i do know is that yog sothoth is cooler

  • He also has sex with females to have Demi Gods :D

  • FREAKY!!! D:

  • YOGSARON in WorlDofWARCRAFThe §TORY of GAME I§ NAMEarth INHYXCHORUNNoWAR YXON !!!

  • what other gods, stories, mythologies by lovecraft??]

    is Cthulhu the strongest?

    are they ALL evil??

  • @juliusyeung0330 Idk if ALL of them are but I do know that Yog Sothoth is by far one of teh strongest yet I kinda of lean towards Azethoth

  • @juliusyeung0330 Strongest? That is not a question that should concern mortals, for all are strong enough to end this reality if they chose to, they just don't.

Evil? No, not even Cthulhu is evil, for to an Elder God, or an Outer God, or a Great Old One, such a tiny, one-dimensional concept such as good and evil is beneath their notice.

I will say, however, that of all the Elder Gods, the one that is most likely to aid mortals would be Nodens.

  • @juliusyeung0330 Azatoth is a Elder god.

He rules from his throne at the center of ultimate chaos, and is often interpreted as the strongest, and as being evil.

Beneath the elder gods there is the Outer gods and Great old ones like Cthulhu, then there is other races.

Some of these isnt Necesairily evil, but have sutch absurd morality that they could be seen as evil. Examples of these is the Mi-Go, and "The Great Race of Yith".

For more details you can send a PM and il answer what i can.

  • @SupremeLogic1

I thought Yog Sothoth was better than Azathoth.

I thought He sort of helped humans?

he breed with humans to create Demi Gods?

I thought he let humans to the dream world...

  • None of these images truly resemble Yog Sothoth. Perhaps one of it's/his/her avatars, but not Yog Sothoth's main body, if it could be called that.

  • Last picture: "Should have bring a bigger gun"

  • There is a religion that have a spagetti monster flying in the sky with meatballs for eyes .... f*cking rip off Yog-Sothoth

  • wtf is that thing?

  • 0:15

    The flying spaghetti monster

  • Why does he look like a cheese-covered octopus?

  • Comment removed

  • That's one badass mofo...

  • Last pic is from upcomming game The Secret World tobe relesed 2011/2012. Based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft. (Happyface)

  • Those who disliked this video will be sacrificed!

  • behold the gate that is Yog-Sothoth.

  • I'm wanting to do some reading i.e. Lovecraft, & anything Great Old Ones, can anyone have a recomendation other than "Call of C'thulu" ?

  • @conradical89 the color out of space is my favorite

  • @conradical89 "The Dunwich Horror" is another great story, one of the few Lovecraft stories where heroic characters successfully battle the monster. Also "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" and "The Strange High House In The Mist".

  • @RavenHouseMystery yeah I read the Dunwich horror gave me the chills instant like on that. Never read "The strange high house in the mist" though, the shadow over insmouth was good though, thanks for the recomondation.

  • @conradical89 Your welcome. One more I can recommend (and I'm surprised I didn't mention it before) is "At The Mountains Of Madness". Although one of Lovecraft's longest stories, it gives a good historical record of the Great Old Ones arrival on Earth and the story may be the best "cerebral horror/thriller" I've ever read.

  • that is not yog-sothoth but azathoth

  • @evilknevil14 no, it's yog-sothoth.

"He is stated as the only being truly more powerful than the all-mighty Azathoth, and wiser than the all-seeing Yibb-Tstll."

  • Who came up with most of the Yog Sothoth stuff? August Deraleth or Lovecraft himself?

  • @Rahheemme

Yog-Sothoth is first mentioned in Lovecraft's "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward".

  • @Rahheemme mostly lovecraft. I think Yog sothoth is in more stories than Cthulhu.

It would be better to call the stores the "Yog Sothoth Myhtos"

  • @Rahheemme August Deraleth gave him the title The Lurker at The Threshold though.

  • @Rahheemme

Yog-sothoth is believed to be Lovecraft´s favorite creation.

Lovecraft himself, however, never used the term Cthulhu Mythos, nor did he acknowledge any individual distinctions among his stories. Nonetheless, Lovecraft undoubtedly recognized an underlying unity of certain imagined settings and deities in his tales, though the closest he ever came to naming this collective world was the Arkham cycle (after the main fictional town) or Yog-Sothothery (after one of the primary gods)

  • LOL flying spaghetti monster at 0:16

  • 0:31 is how I picture Yog sothoth

  • @Iouapie I think that was meant to be a shoggoth, an artificial lifeform created by the Ancient Ones. Shoggoths are described as protoplasmatic masses capable to form complex organs anywhere in their structure, and that's exactly what that looks like.

  • @DevilMaster

Hmm good point. I already knew what a shoggoth was though :P But still if that was Soggoth Its how i imagine him.

    Oh and FSM forever :D

  • chuck norris is the reason why the great old ones sleep

  • @604SNOWMAN Chuck Norris is the Main Great Old One. :D

  • @604SNOWMAN and McGyver

  • Nothing can defeat Yog-Sothoth

  • this aint yog-soth its cthulhu and the thing in the pit one of his sons the real image of yog is bubbles other wise clarify if there his avatars or something.

  • At 0:18 what's that City He's hovering over?

  • Aztec

  • @RampantWolf Was He Destroying It Or What?

  • cthulu'll beat'em all when he wakes up, just a little cat nap

  • 0:17

    FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER!!!

  • its missing the eyes and meat balls lol

  • totally

  • by the Dark Ones, he means Cthulhu the Corruptor, right?

  • @utfrts39sk

Not necessarily. There are many different...groups, or classes, if you will, of Gods in the Cthulhu Mythos. Many have similar names.

The Dark Ones, The Great Ones, The Great Old Ones, The Elder Gods, The Deep Ones, etc.

  • @utfrts39sk also the Outer Gods

  • nobody can mess with yog sothoth!

  • Azathoth could mess with Yog-Sothoth :P

  • @Grigeral Ya but Azathoth is the King.. he is everything and nothing. He is Over Powered.

  • @Kattzman Lol I never actually considered the thought of anyone claiming a god as 'overpowered' ^^.

Powerful though he may be, Azathoth is actually just a seething mass with barely any thought pattern. What use is power without the understanding to weild it properly?

  • @Grigeral Giygas?

  • @TheCrimsonVanguard What do you mean by Giygas?

  • @Grigeral giygas is a large mass of conjured darkness created to just destroy shit. It's a mass of pure mindless evil.

  • @TheCrimsonVanguard Ah right. I had never really heard the term before, but yes that would sound about right :)

  • @Grigeral yea but azathoth cant think so

    Yogosogth: YO AZATHOTH!

    Azathoth: Wut?

    Yogsogoth: Got any gum?

    Azathoth: Yea here you go...

Yogsogoth: WELL I DONT WANT IT! D:<

    Azathoth: :(

  • @Gorillaz84444 thats not true at all. Azathoth can think and make choices just fine. but none of them are truly rational or logical. even so, just imagining HOW the brain works let alone what it comes up with to these ancient ones is a mind boggling mystery all in itself

  • @hiimquinn Well according to HP Lovecraft Books Azagoth actually made a foolish decision to save another Outer God that was supposed to be a dear friend to him. (It was like a slime that carried all the writings in the universe.) Well after that the gods took away his mind, making him a powerful idiot (As HP. Lovecraft states himself in one of his books.) and thus Nylarthothep made an advantage and became his messenger.

  • @Gorillaz84444 really? i heard Azathoth's planet got destroyed, and when he escaped, he accidently launched himself into the farthest reaches of space with nothing and no one. and he slowly went insane because of the isolation. he even got to the point where he would make friends with stars

  • @hiimquinn Nope, I never heard of that actually! xD Sounds pretty cool but it isnt the TRUE way of how Azagoth became a moron.

  • @Gorillaz84444 haha, it's part of the short story "Azathoth" which tells of his creation and life. it's pretty confusing, and has pretty weird metaphors. but once you interpret what it is saying into the mind of an Ancient one, it starts to make sense. but as i recall, Azathoth isn't actually "stupid" in a sense. it's simply that, because he is the embodiment of chaos, destruction, madness, and darkness, by his very NATURE, he is incapable of structure. which includes rational thinking

  • @Gorillaz84444 btw, it's "Azathoth" not "Azagoth" :P

  • @hiimquinn FUUUUUUUUU- Touche my good friend, touche.

  • @Gorillaz84444 haha

  • @Grigeral Yog sothot is the all in one...azathoth exist just because yog sothoth allowed him to exist...

  • @Grigeral Sadly you are mistaken...Yog-Sothoth is considered (in some instances) a completely different being than the Great Old Ones or the Elder Gods. He is also stated to be "The only being truly more powerful than the all-mighty Azathoth, and wiser than the all-seeing Yibb-Tstll." Therefore the statement you made is highly unlikely.

  • @Grigeral Azethoth is the Highest of them all being the epitome of Chaos and Destruction!

  • @Grigeral

Azothoth is too busy living in the center of the universe, being all insane and stuff... remember?

He just listens to the piping and drumming of lesser gods while he undulates in all his atomic fury.

  • @Grigeral all million or so 80-85s could take him down

lan party at my place! lets do this shit!

  • @Grigeral He'd have the power to, yes, but he is the idiot god. Blind and deaf.

  • @Voidmaster05 Not deaf, just blind... and drunk x3

  • @Grigeral i thought yog solthoth was the only one more powerful then azathoth

  • Is it just me or is this a rip off from the H.P.Lovecraft's Mythos?

  • @Zyotomir You're kidding, right?

    it's a tribute to Lovecraft

  • @Zyotomir; It is not a rip off. Yog-Sothoth is one of the Outer Gods from the Cthulhu Mythos, which was created by Lovecraft along with several other authors.

It is more of a tribute as Doloreg says, to Lovecrafts work on the mythos.

  • I see...well,thanks,I had no idea it was a tribute.Blizzard can put everything in a single game :D

  • the last picture reminds me of Raziel standing in front of the One when he was cast in the Abyss by Kain and his brothers ... for Kain was jealous of his Wings ... Raziel reached the level Kain awaited for centuries but haven't made it there ... lol Raziel and his brothers were awaken from the dead by Kain and he set them as his Liuteinants

  • I think Cthulhu is a small god. I mean he sleeps in the ocean, on earth, but earth is really small if you see our sun, and our sun is small if you see vy canis majoris

  • omg, lovecraft himself only talked about the great old ones, the outter and bullsheet where made up by copycats

  • ehm, so you say that it wasnt lovecraft that made yog-sothoth then? so he didnt wright the case of charles dexter ward or the dunwich horror? yog-sothoth is an outer god together with azathoth and several others. have you even read all of h.p lovecrafts books?

  • I love you Yog-Sothoth!...C'mere you , give me a big smoooooooooooooch!!!!

  • I just want a shirt with Yog-Sothoth on it.

At the bottom is says: "Then suddenly...HOLY SHIT ITS YOG-SOTHOTH"

I would laugh every time i wore it.

  • But wasn't it supposed to be held in this sort of dungeon, headless, all shackled up and came to pervade someone's conscience only through his or her perverse thoughts? If so, anybody would most likely be a Yog-Sothoth priest, which really makes sense since we all are perverse in our little ways.

  • 1st pic, bottom left i think is cthulhu. that would mean yog-sothoth is about the size of a mountain or bigger.

  • In the Call of Cthulhu, Cthulhu stands on the bottom of the ocean and the surface comes only up to his waist. Yog-Sothoth is waaaaaaaay bigger than a mountain.

  • in the game?! or the book.. I take it the book?

  • In the books.

  • i guess we really are tiny specs of space dust after all.

  • is it just me or does the second pic (0.14-0.29) look like the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

  • Yog-Sothoth is the All-in-One and the One-in-All, remember?

  • makes sense

  • @1000thVoice THAT MUST BE WHAT L RON HUBBARD WAS THINKING ABOUT :O

  • What's that pic @ 0:51?

  • So, is Yog-Sothoth a giant, super-shoggoth, a sentient ball of tentacles, or something completely different? I haven't read much about him.

  • Comment removed

  • Yog-Sothoth is.... complex:-

"It was an All-in-One and One-in-All of limitless being and self not merely a thing of one Space-Time continuum, but allied to the ultimate animating essence of existence's whole unbounded sweep the last, utter sweep which has no confines and which outreaches fancy and mathematics alike"
