I'm not too sure about your choices for L. Mostly because L is older than Light, not the same age. And the actors you chose look around the same age as the actors for Light. Just saying. :)

Well here's what I know about film companies. They like to buy the rights to movies just so that other film companies don't get them. That doesn't nesseciarlly mean they want to make the film they just don't want anyone else too. Personally I don't think zac would go for this kind of movie. He has a reputation to maintain. I also think that acting - looks. I would rather have a great actor play light than one who looks like him. Etc.

I think this list is great. Efron seems to be the ideal choice for Light Yagami, as far as rumors are concerned. Everyone seems to be against this, but if he's as big a fan of the manga as they say, I'll rely on him not to fuck this up. He looks like Light enough, and I have faith in his acting, but it's just so hard to picture him playing such a dark character. He'll have a lot to live up to, if he gets the role.

@selcell I don't think age matters so much. Originally in the Japanese version L was intended to not be particularly good looking, but he has a huge fanbase. So to me Johnny Depp as L would be do-able but I also like your idea of him playing the death god Ryuk :) Over all there's so much talk about Hollywood destroying the Death Note that I think casting Johnny Depp to play L or Ryuk would be on of its few redeeming qualities.

So to me Johnny Depp as L would be do-able but I also like your idea of him playing the death god Ryuk :) Over all there's so much talk about Hollywood destroying the Death Note that I think casting Johnny Depp to play L or Ryuk would be on of its few redeeming qualities.

I think Zac Efron resembles Light alot, but I think there's someone out there that can pull off both the look AND evil character. Check up Gaspard Ulliel. You might have seen him in the movie Hannibal Rising. He goes psycho and reminds me of Light ALOT when he evily smirks. I think he's perfect for Light, but of course the directors will never take him into consideration :(.

@Animerox1231 No wayyy. No offense, but Avril is NOT an actor lol. She sucks at it. Plus, Misa is a very bubbly character and I highly doubt Avril can pull that off.
Hilary Duff is really cute but I cannot see her acting as Misa 'cus she's a bad actor as well. If anything, I'd go for Taylor Momsen. Question is, how good is her acting. She's got the look but can she pull off Misa's character?

Despite what I would normally think, I think Zac Efron would be PERFECT for the role. Not everyone is what they first did, just because he did some shitty disney movies doesn't mean he's a horrible actor. He's really hot now, and could totally pull off the pretty boy/crazy thing. He looks EXACTLY like Light would irl, and let's face it, he might be talented, give him a chance.

Some people don't like to read subtitles and like to see the characters portrayed as real people. If you don't like the movie, so what, it wont RUIN death note, just don't watch it and let others enjoy it.
