  • Always good to punch without telegraphing. A punch speed exercise I use is to try to punch the glove of my robot arm's punch before it returns. It's hard to do. I like the exercise shown here to practice punching fast from various positions; not that anyone should leave themself open like that though, but just to develope fast muscles.

  • japanese :P

  • im not frieken chinese OK

  • that are normal punches but i found tio see how i train the speed

  • I was looking te learn speed training and wound up learning spped training, go figure.....

  • one of this punches makes your eye bleed

  • Once it is beneficial enough for someone to train as a professional fighter and pursue that career in China, we'll see some insane Kung Fu Action in MMA =D. The promotions of MMA is not big over there in China, which sucks. Not big, as in, not as big as UFC or Pride, etc.

  • cool it does increase speed and hit from any angles but dont get carried away cause you will get used to opening your hands bad idea in a fight

  • This is good stuff! Training to punch from unusual positions helps tremendously. If you can get a fast punch from those weird positions, imagine how fast you'll be when you're in the proper position. It's the same idea as wearing a weight vest or doing chinups with weight. When you go back to just bodyweight, it's easy.

  • nice!!!!

  • What about the retraction of the punch? sure that technique is fast to the target but arm reset is so important for combination leverage. Plus using your legs and core is where speed comes from. it's all about leverage and center of gravity.

  • this drill is great for learning to target correctly. Unfortunately it does not "prove" it helps punching speed. First of all, the form is mediocre not great. Second, and more importantly this guy ALREADY has great speed. He has been punching for YEARS. How do I know? He isn't wrapped and is slamming the focus mitt. No bleeding, no whincing, no wrist/knuckle pain. This guy is already conditioned. Good luck doing this as a beginner.

  • What the shit?

  • shouldn't the hand move first?

  • @Micahel213 if ur punching corectly u shouldnt be "punching" with ur hand it should come all the way from ur foot by traviling up ur body and getting body power behind it so tech ur hand is the last thing to move u are just hitting with that part of ur body

  • @devildeb1234

I'm not saying you should just be punching with your hand. I'm saying for speed (speed=kinetic energy equals power), your hand should move first then propelled by the rest of the body mechanics. this technique was perfected by Bruce Lee. move the hand later besides missing out on optimal speed you will be telegraphing your punch. watch my vid on defense at boxing range. it's also a demo for a non-telegraphic strike.

  • well.. i would'nt say that the main objetives of the training is to improve speed. how many sets , reps and recuperation will dictate if it s a speed training or not.

  • Manny Pacqiuao.

Currently, he is the WBO World welterweight champion, The Ring light welterweight champion, and is rated by "The Ring" as the number 1 pound-for-pound best boxer of the world.

    as if talk shit.

  • @martinlabaro

i'll only believe he is world champ if he stops refusing drug testing and fights Mayweather, otherwise he will never be the best.

  • @RockAnRepublic The first boxer in history to win seven world titles in seven different weight divisions. For his achievements, Pacquiao was named the 2000-2009 "Fighter of the Decade" by the

If you can't acknowledge he is, but even the Boxing Writers Association of America can, then i don't think anybody will care what you believe.

&he accepts to take the same drug tests as everyone else in boxing, why the extra scrutiny?

  • @martinlabaro beacuse it dosent matter what the boxing writers federation thinks if pacquiao is hitting speed before matches it means hes not the best fighter if he has an unfair advantage over natural boxers now it may be he is clean but why cant he prove it.

  • @RockAnRepublic but he takes the same tests as everyone else in boxing...

he follows the same rules as everyone else; why should he be the only one to take extra drug tests? if you jump to conclusions, i can say the the same thing for all the other boxers because they don't take the extra tests too.

also, many boxers don't like to take the extra drug testing of taking blood right before a match because some people may get weak(physically or mentally)or not, depending on their bodies or traumas.

  • @martinlabaro Manny wants an entire month without blood tests, an entire month! not just right before the fight, that seems pretty god damn suspicious.

  • @RockAnRepublic But those are extra testing that Mayweather is pushing The Pacquiao team to have. Manny is superstitious & proud, he is not the boxer needing the fight, so why is Mayweather making the demands? People are accusing Manny of taking some sort of "wonderdrug" that has enabled him to accomplish what he has done, without being detected by the official urine & blood tests after the match. His drug testing record from the tests&rules that every boxer takes is clean.

  • FAKE

  • Yeah good video! It's funny how people judge people by size, if your big your more intimidating. Intimidating = stronger (we think).

Yet i'm sure a smaller guy like one of these with the right training, against a bigger guy with same training. The smaller guy would win, because he would have an easier time moving around + being faster.

I mean you don't need HUGE muscles to knock someone out, it's actually real easy. Just gotta the know the "how to" way.

  • @Alexander1991 not just that most smaller guys do actually hit harder because they punch faster (generally) speed is alot more paramount than mass for force ...

  • @SirFightsalot Yeah thats very true, of course they need to know how to punch proper. My right is hard as shit, because instead of just being an idiot flying a thousand weak punches at you, i use my whole body and make a quick turn whenever i punch. Using all my body force to give all the power into my arm, and then my fist.

  • @Alexander1991 yeah exactly :) and to anyone that argues the fact take a physics class plz and inform yourself ... science proves pretty much anything.

  • tony jaa among one of the best asian fighters.thats a fact but when it comes to boxing and mma ufc. and all that shit.they are deifinetely not the best "krnxpridex"asians that is.

  • @ krnxpridex

    like who?

  • lol learning how to punch fast from an asian. unless its bruce lee or a shaolin monk, i want to hear nothing about punching fast from an asian. their records in sport fighting r just horrible. especially boxing

  • lol you stupid? best fighters in the world are asians

  • we are not talking about sport fighting record here. We are talking about punch speed and while they have 2 legs and 2 arms they are same humans as you or I, so that means they have equal potencial to punch fast !

  • @dss103 dumb cunt, manny pacquiao. you don't follow boxing do you?

  • @martinlabaro lol filipinos are like the hispanics of asia. of course theyre gonna do good. and ur right, i dont follow boxing anymore cuz that sh!t is a whack attack now. MMA took all the talent away from boxing for the time being. name me a heavyweight now that is even half as good as Joe fraizer and LOL cruiserweight? wtf is cruiserweight? dam boxing sux ass now but thats besides the point. Most asians suck at combat sports, period.

  • @dss103 thats not true, im an Asian and im not bad, i train martial arts and i dont 'suck'. i know you said most, but where did Martial Arts originate? Asia. and they still have the best fighters and the best martial art schools.

  • @TheDubbyDuck You know what, i should correct my dated statement. A couple of Asians are starting to emerge in the spotlight now that they started coming stateside to train in camps like Greg Jackson's camp, ATT, etc. Point is, theyre alittle behing in this sport as it stands but give it some time and we may see a true contender in an MMA promotion. Im keeping my eye out for Tie Quan Zhang.

  • @TheDubbyDuck I DO NOT think asians "suck" in "martial arts". But let's clarify what you are saying. ASIAN martial arts originated in asia. Martial arts (as defined basically to mean combat fighting... in normal usage) originated with Cavemen. Back in Africa if Darwin is to be believed. Then I guess you could follow the migration of early man and extrapolate from there. Asians would be THE LAST to develop MA since they are more recent according to evolutionary biology. just saying. lol.

  • @dss103

  • yeah just observing this video.. i think its basically teaching/improving the body rotation for the punch and how to train to gain power from it and not using your elbow.. you can see the student at the beginning rotating his body and the instructor showing the correct stance..

  • Very very nice technique... Respekt !!!

  • bad technique. you need to be able to protect yourself when you throw. throw a punch like that against a schooled fighter and you will get ktfo.

  • looks like they are trying to teach a concept.

  • @dulcechristo dummby its a training technique for power and speed!!!!! DUH!

  • wow

it's not like he is in a fight in this video you fuckin idiot

he's training his right arm for smoother movement thus allowing him to throw his right hand and pull it back quickly.

  • brave behind a keyboard.

"not like he's in a fight". yeah, because he would get KTFO. again, it's a training technique for nobodies hoping they never have to fight a real fighter

  • lol you clearly have no idea what you're talking about based on this video you can really judge the fighter's overall technique

    stop being a douchebag

  • @dulcechristo lol you're an idiot.

  • Do you even know what this video is about? It's not about training for fights, It's not about protecting yourself it's about training yourself to punch faster. Using technique to enhance the torque and speed behind the punch. A schooled fighter wouldn't call that bad technique.

  • This guy might be fast but he is telegraphing his punch very much.

  • its called training... work on parts before you put it together.

when you put together the pieces then you work on details.

  • Anyone rating this less than 5 STARS don't know what they are looking at ! ! !

The teaching is excellent and the fighter's technique is sharp... The good technique helps with the speed and the POWER ....

Delivering the punch from anywhere, dirrectly to the target ! ! !

    Paulie D' The Punch Professor

  • what i'd like to do 'punch professor' is show you up close exactly what one of my power punches looks like as it bounces off your flattened fucking nose. or are you the dung punch professor?

  • @PunchProfessor

what do you think of his stance look to me like it should be wider. right to left i mean.. not front to back.

  • @PunchProfessor

what do you think of his stance look to me like it should be wider. right to left i mean.. not front to back.

  • @DeathWithinTenSteps

It's not a bad stance, as you say left to right could afford to be a little wider...

I never want to see a stance that looks like it could work on a skateboard..

But too wide is a problem also as the stance becomes square and open ! ! !

    Paul D'Antuono The Punch Professor

    Florida U.S.A.

  • looks like a pretty good class. nice to see a breakdown of the punch

  • He would kick a lot of people's ass

    His form is really good

i wish I could put a video up right now

  • this is just a speed drill

  • wtf

  • part 2. Wouldn't you say that a punch needs to grounded, even boxers have there punch over there feet with there elbow placed on the in-side ,closer to there body,it's safer from side blows. You mock Ving tsun, If I recall history in the late 70's some boxers, used Ving-tsun idea's without showing vt in there style "covering the center line. I can ramble on and still not get you attention.

  • Look real carefully in the beginning. The coach takes the hand of the student and says, "normally, you would punch like this" and shows the correct way to punch like how you would in a kickboxing class(and this is a kickboxing class). The student is told to punch beginning from that stance for a reason. In boxing, I'm sometimes told to leave my left hand down when I practice only using my right hand to punch.

  • Say .. where is the science behind your style.

Ok .. Lets talk about that punch. Your feet are not grounded, what's behind that punch,I'm sure any fighter can take that punch. Each time you pull back you leave your self open. I think if you use shorter punches get closer and keeping your elbow behind your hand you keep the center, has more power too . This works on the ground and standing up.

    part 1.

  • par2.

In Ving Tsun and other styles unlike UFC which you can us dimmak presser points. Would you say that using the energy under your foot up the middle has more power "chi" a straight line is faster then a hook. Oh I wasn't being critical to your style I just made an observation.

    Have a good holiday !

  • Well out of respect I don't call people freaks. Second I'm from the Moyyat school class of 1991.

How many UFC people fight on the ground in public in a bar where there is glass, rocks.

I have not seen many UFC fights ,but there seems to be rules which don't work in the real world. It seems to me that most of the UFC is a redundent style but, with some realy good fighters that I like. Part 1.

  • Try the center line it's faster.

  • sounds like you are some wing chun freak. Show me one UFC match where center-line punches are used.

  • He is over extending his punch. I would never

give my hand to anyone to grab "lop da".

Over commenting. And all-so outdoor-indoor takes to much time.

  • One of my MMA teacher fights in the UFC although he's fighting in the lower division and he teaches me to extend the punch all the way during practice. I also learned from a three times heavy weight kickboxing champion in the world named Derek Panza and he also said the same thing. Who the hell are you learning from? Do you even know anything about martial arts in the first place?

  • Maybe he means that your arm should not be fully extended when you reach the target, rather it should be close but the 'follow through' should only consist of the last few centimetres of extension.

  • But from the way I see it in the video, the student is punching correctly with a good form. Your logic is correct but punching from a distance and extending the punch is also good when you want to fight keeping your distance.

  • Look at his footing, where is the power coming from. He's is not grounded. If this was Ving Tsun Kung-fu or any kung-fu

the punch would kick the person holding the pad off his feet.

  • What about the snap? He leaves his arm hanging out there for like 45 minutes.

  • That was another way of practicing the punch.

This is a kickboxing class and besides, you really think anybody would leave their punches out like that whether it's out in the streets or in the tournament? They're just doing a demonstration.

  • I was being sarcastic.

  • But it sounded like you couldn't understand what was going on in the video.

  • O.K. I wasn't being sarcastic. I really was wondering why the dude wasn't just punching fast. I take Tae Kwon Do, and when we practice we just punch fast. ( At least where I take class.)

  • These kinds of techniques are actually taught in boxing too. You don't want to just have a fast hand with a fast snap because if it doesn't hurt then your opponent is definitely going to close in start attacking more aggressively. This is a typical way to make your body learn to put some weight behind every punch. You punch all the way out and bring it back real fast in boxing.

  • Sounds good. Maybe I'll change up my practice a little.

  • That's a good idea but it's better to learn under the supervision of those coaches that teaches those techniques. Because most people ends up doing it differently than they think they should be doing in their head. That's why you need coaches watching over you to fix your every move and make you realize your mistakes. Even top professionals still has coaches for those reasons.

  • Sounds like good advice.I think I'll follow it. Thanks.

  • I love how the Japanese have these wild unorthodox training and fighting methods in the ring, cage, and the mat. Awesome.

  • funny how the trainers are always little guys that never fight, but i guess its same with lots of sports, like golf for instance, all pro's have coaches to teach them but most of the coaches could never play pro themselves, hence the reason they became coaches.

but dont worry about speed, just worry about out thinking your opponent and dont be afraid to take risks, perfect example was the recent RJJ Calzaghe fight.

  • This is the Jet li?:X

  • no haha

  • Can I get an explanation, please?

  • I think that:

    1) We need to relax the arm, so it will increase the speed

    2) Throw punch from any position

    3) At the moment, just a little before our fist can reach the aim, we need to hold our fist hard

    That's what I think. May be wrong!:D

    Sorry for my English!^__^
