We now know it's not Vitamin B, (as populations of eumelanin types- dark skinned peoples live in northern climates today with less sun & largely no deficiencies) but the folic acid and folate within Vit B9 are essential for biological functions such as cell division. Destruction of folate by UV radiation is much more damaging than vitamin deficiency, so this is why the melanin in which the folate is stored would be positively selected in evolution.

@dprez90 Thats a good point, to be honest I didn't know Eskimos were dark skinned but it does make sense! in the Arctic the sun is very intense at certain times during the year and also reflects of the snow and ice intensifying it more, that's why white people wear high factor sunscreen on their face and necks when they go on skiing holidays.

I think modern genetic evidence points to the inhabitants of America originating in the Caucasus, or at least travelling through there (all humans originated in Africa) on the way to America on a Western progression, rather than travelling East from Africa. If that was a recent event then perhaps dark skin isn't a significant enough negative selection pressure, though your hypothesis about snow glare seems plausible. The aryan theory was discredited by Lalji Singh of the CCMB.

THE VEDAS are mentioning only 1 god but say he has inifinite names...now ppl have taken those names like indra mitra or vishnu and made different characters on them...each name has a meaning and it represents 1 characteristic/attribute of the supreme lord. HOWEVER sometimes these names like indra, varuna, etc also mean suprememe god and it also refers to DEMI-GOD who lives in heavenly spheres and is the xian equivalent of angels....if the ved refers to demigod or HIM depends on context....
