Emitters. Have it so whatever explosive you want (preferably a plain Impact Explosive) shoots at an angle just along the barrel of the tank (attach the emitter to the barrel so it always shoots in the right direction), as though the shot was coming out of the barrel.

There are other ways, but first things first, be sure you've taken the tutorial on Emitters because they have lots of little details in their tweak settings you may like.

It is, if you haven't gotten it for yourself yet. :D I've only ever gotten one object to do a gmod-like spasm and that was because it was awkwardly shaped and being smashed by a hunk of metal.
