If they make this film I might have to blow my brains out. They have raped and pissed on everything else that I loved growing up and I wish it would just FUCKING STOP!
@a1rh3add I get annoyed when people read a great book and say, "can't wait for the movie!" Books are not movies, they are completely separate art forms and are not interchangeable. Some work as movies, some don't, but a blockbuster movie is not the apotheosis of a great book. Often making a book into a movie is a huge downgrade and fails miserably. And you never hear people say, "boy, I wish they'd make that movie into a book!" If you have an imagination, then you've "seen" the movie already.
This is all product placement, for the brain chips that the mass murdering Debt Syndicate wants everyone of their slaves to have implanted, so that anyone with a rebellious thought may be IDed and murdered.
If you don't know //exactly// what that means, you are one of the slaves.
@tool619 David Cronenberg, I agree. But I think Gilliam's recent work shows that he's lost that certain touch, even if the films are still 'good' compared to most everything else these days.
they didn't let Chris Cunningham do the movie. nomatter who they get the only person that could make it work is him. now we are not gonna have the movie we desrve... :( at times like this why doesn't Hollywood stop producing all that garbage and get the right team for a movie for once....
The sound of the C64 version had much more 'charm' for me. There are a lot of people using a chip emulating that caracteristic sound these days, which proves it still has that little 'something' all the actual technology can't offer ;)
Just to clear up, the song that you hear playing on this video is the only music from the Commodore 64 version of the Neuromancer video game. It is an early example of the digitization of music. Fitting that they used a Devo song, "Some Things Never Change."
The song was taken from the commodore 64 version. You can find it on websites sharing SID music files (SID is the chipset used for sounds on the C64).
You'll need a SID emulator for your audio player if you download SID files.
Actually it's a Devo song so we'll have to see the possibilities around it. I doubt we'll manage to have this out on CD but I guess putting an online file would be good.
This is the Commodore 64 version of the theme song that plays at various times during the game . I don't think the PC had anywhere near as good music for their version...
Also, I had to read the book two times to completely process everything.
The best thing is to make sure you know all of the early Cyberpunk/Hard-Scifi lingo before you read this book. Wikipedia "Neuromancer" will help you a LOT!
After that go on to "Count Zero" and "Mona Lisa Overdrive". After that go to Gibson's "Bridge Trilogy" which takes place nearer into the future, but just as good!
There are various websites featuring information on Neuromancer. I got this file from one of them. Sorry for not supplying the link (just lost track on it).
The main music theme is lifted from a Devo song titled 'Some Things Never Change'. There were samples of it in the original game's musical theme and what you hear in the video is the adaptation done of the Devo song.

Yep I still have a copy at my nightstand. I got the game for my commodore 64 after reading the book. Those were simpler times.

Don't forget they also had the song digitized on the C64 game (in addition to the SID version).

The song is titled "Some things never change" and its from the album "Total Devo", 1988.
You can hear the song on youtube if you search for "some things never change devo"
