Saw them perform the rat in a close quarters, dark and smoky Red Lion Pub, Augusta, Ga. One of the best band performances I have ever witnessed. They should have produced a similiar video, such a powerfully dark and mesmerizing performance at the Red Lion !!
I actually think this version live sounds better than the one on the album...Been lisnin to these guys since the first LP... The last of the great grunge bands. Not thrilled with their new album"sugar" though, its like theyre tryina take middle-ground between nirvana and the foo fighters. Wrecking ball is the album style they should continue to pursue, instead of the alt-rock on sugar. DeadCon will last into the next decade as a breakthrough band if they keep up this kinda quality!!
okay, they're playing in a fuckin radio station. my question was directed a lil more to whats going on in the video. the boy is putting something or someone dead in a plastic bag into a red wagon and wheeling it into the woods? yeah, i do that everyday! maybe he is taking it on a short cut through the woods to the radio station's studio! yeah, that's it!
uhh no, your question was a dumb question. Maybe you didn't even watch the video you're commenting on or something, but you asked what was going on in THIS video, and asianmatt answered that for you. THIS video is not the music video for The Rat that you're talking about, THIS video is a live version of The Rat performed by the band in a radio station studio. Therfore your question was, in fact, a dumb question.
yea i know right,i posted a question on yahoo answers asking if there were any good grunge bands anymore and someone mentioned dead confederate, and i was thinkin to myself,i bet there gonna suck, but i heard this song and i was like, holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,and it is
Fair enough... poor choice of words. I feel this band delivers in an articulate, yet soulful way. Nirvana was absolutely grunge and I did enjoy the raw and almost a laziness that was his genius.
yea i think there much better than nirvana, cuz they're way easier to understand, and they're actually the band kurt cobain wanted to be,cuz kurt didn't want to be famous,he wanted to be an underground grunge/rock band,w.e u want to call it,this is exactly what he wanted to be but he fucked up and made smells like teen spirit and became popular
The first time i heard this song i fell in love with it. Something about the music mellows me out, but makes me want to cry all at the same time. I love it. <3
Fantastic, but my ears are screwed up from the gig. was a small venue, and now i have a permenent ringing in my ears, but i only notice it at night or in librarys (silent places). still, worth seeing, but stand at the back! also, order a coke with sothern comfort and dark rum. lovely drink i made the same night. (bar staff had ear plugs, wise)
Funny you should make that comparison because they've shared the stage with Patterson Hood. Most people see the Nirvana connection, but they definitely hold on to their southern rock roots.
My band was lucky enough to be on the bill with them at a small venue in Tampa about a year or so ago and afterwards I was discussing musical influence with the lead singer and Neil Young came up...so yeah. That sort of harder alt southern rock thing. Lots of other influences too.
Side note, we get to open for them again in a few weeks. Woo hoo!
@PoonJammer69 Wow I am going to see the DBT Sunday night at the Freebird in Jacksonville. I was checking out this video because this band is coming to Wanee fest in Fl and I remember they toured with DBT. Glad I checked out this video!
These guys and the Whigs are the best bands out there right now. Forget Colplay and shit like that. The Whigs and Dead Confederate are the truth and the future of great music. Support them and watch what happens.
Nirvana meets Pink Floyd, especially on tunes like Tortured Artist Saint and Start me laughing. The Rat has stuck in my head deep. I had to listen before taking my old dirty sag of bones to work.
OKAY, so everyone is here that likes them, right? Okay, so they're obviously about to explode and become big. We're in on this secret for now. They're not emo, so it's cool, they're not a grunge rip-off, so it's not a revamp of the genre. I can't wait to tell people I knew about them before they did.
Good job guys.

...Wow...they are pretty good...the singer is very impressive...His "anger" sound is very cool...but needs a little bit more control in the voice...
I miss somehow only one thing here(I listened to 6 songs of them), a little more speed and more "happy" songs (try to "cover" country^^)...
Finally,
The sound is very good, keep it!
