@stepahead2be Dave Pearce is the guy on PE's Nation of millions album who says 'Hammersmith Odeon, are u ready for the def jam tour let me hear u make some noise...'

Some real cringe worthy shit there lol..Faze 1 were ok though..If theres any Americans reading this..Trust me theres better stuff out there from these days...Look up Hijack..RIP Derek B
Well its obviously how America was very ignorant over the years...we let their artits comes to us BUT they dislike us
Also not only Hip-hop aint influence us..we made up our own URban Ting such as Jungle/Ragga & Drum N bass...those kinds of music touched the UK scene with influeneces such as The Slang Decent from Jamaican...
They cant touch UK man and we aint big headed either...we should make peace cos after al its music!!
Well, we did create it and all music the world loves - so what do you expect. No one here wants to here people from other countries rap. It started talking about black things and our concerns. Other accents don't work. While London has been down for a while, the style and imitation can't work. Wee Papa Gris and Slick Rick were your best. SR of course was good because he lived here. UK can't touch US in anythng. You guys imitate all that we do. No influence from there to here.
I do agree with you somewhat ON THE MUSIC SIDE, yes the world loves black/AA music and culture anything from jazz, blues, rock and roll, rap, harlem rennaisance. But this does not mean other countries cannot have their own variations and hybrids from South Africa, to Maoris in NZ to Brit blacks in UK. Many Americans wonder why they are hated around the world, I personally love a lot about America but others hate the type of arrogant comments and hyperbole typical of that nation.
I never wrote that other countries cannot have their take on our creations (African-American creations by the way), I was just saying that we are no arrogant, you guys are just mad because we create and you can't shine in the US. The Who never had hits here when they sounded British. Once they changed, they had hits. The world hates #1's. In the US, the rest of the country hates NYC because it is #1. In the NFL, people hated the Patriots for the same. Yankees for the same. No one hate #15.
N0Gar, you're comment highlights how insular the US is. Generally if it ain't country, rock or rap, you're not gonna hit wherever you're from. Here in the UK, we have a huge and diverse range of music on our radio/ charts from novelty comedy records, hip hop (US+UK), Europop and a huge variety of indie/ electro/ house records from around the world and our home market. C&W from anyone sells virtually nothing here. That's without mentioning the # of UK producers and songwriters who are global hits

From the start of this vid there isn't ONE person(with the exception of Overlord X) who shows where UK hiphop was at that time, sorry to be negative but this was the 'goofy' end of things when hiphop radio/releases was in all the wrong hands, on street level there was plenty rough rugged n'rawness, especially heads who mixed it up with the reggae, i'm sure youtube will see a lot of unknowns get their time to shine, btw these comments are by no means a diss to bobbcorridor, keep postin' bro!
Bizarre Dave Pearce now a cheesy dance DJ, but back then. The voice @ the start of Nation of Millions, Derek B i remember Bad young Brother was awful. Sorry to offend
I'm from the US, and I remember Derek B (Rock the beat was the bomb). The British Rap scene has such a different flavor then the one in the US. I guess its all a matter of taste, but the British accents are a bit formal and it seems their rappers don't flow like the US rappers. I'm biased I guess.
Im from the UK and for years we've been listening to Krs1, Nwa, Public enemy. etc. UK artists up until recently have always tried to copy the u.s style and it hasn't worked. But since the likes of Kano, Dizzee Rascal, and Wiley its become more "ours" something we can relate to more.

It's funny watching this, cos I went to a show that was held by Dave Pearce back in 87'. It was at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, just round the back of Hammersmith Paliy. Derek B and Cookie Crew performed there.
The Fresh Start To The Week Under 18s thing? I went to that. D 2 the K also performed if memory serves me (I think over an instrumental of Jimbrowski). Also remember getting hit on the head with a coin!
OMG!!! Yes it was that!!! It started at something like 3pm and finished at like 7pm. I was 15 then so it was good for me to go and not get into trouble with my mum. I don't remember D2 to the K performing.. but I know it was not just Derek B and the Cookie Crew. I remember do the wop dance hard when the Cookie Crew did 'Females' hahaha!!!
I hope you slapped the fool that hit you with the coin! What a fool.
I'm sure it was D 2 The K (it will always be in my head anyway) and they'd won a competition to perform on Fresh Start To The Week. Derek B and Cookie Crew were compulsory at any show at that time.
I think Bambaataa was in the crowd too (obviously open to some over-18s!)
Your good to keep the ticket.. I wished I kept mine now..but I was young then. I just wanted to go and have a good time couldn't care less about the ticket back then.
Miss those days so much! Hip hop aint the same now, too much fucking crap nowadays.
Major props to you for posting this up, it's brilliant!
I used to horde everything, which is one of the reasons I have videos with things like this on it!
Nothing lasts forever I guess, I still feel energised when I put my pumas on though! I miss it all too but so much of it is being young at the right time.
Being young at the RIGHT time was right! I'm glad I was a teenager at that time I still got the memories clear in my head! It's funny you chatting about Pumas. I'm into trainers and those times had the best trainers ever! I look at my air max90's, air max87's and my jordans and think about the good old days of Chipie clothing, C17 Jeans, starter jackets and of course great music. :)
This is a good documentary.
