I miss your videos Vox. This one changes at 1:29 and i like the video effect and makeup. I like that other version of Kubla Khan you did too, and have shared links to your current version. The one where you hold eye contact with the cam was really great.
Absolutely! ... There was such a huge age-gap between Count Guiccioli and Contessa Teresa Guiccioli. When Teresa first set eyes upon Lord Byron, after reluctantly agreeing with her husband to go to the theatre , then on to Contessa Benzoni's "conversazione" seemed too much for her. It was there, that she first set eyes upon Byron 'a celestial apparrition' Teresa had thought ... This meeting sealed their hearts. I'm so glad that Teresa kept Byron's letters etc to her safe. Thank you kindly Vox.
I enjoyed listening , you read it excellently. Me thinks that there is more to you, than meets the eye! :O) ... Don't know if you're familiar with this work, 'The last attachment' The story of Byron and Teresa Guiccioli, it's very interesting and enlightening. Teresa was Byron's last, longest and perhaps deepest attachment. Thanks for this... :O)
Nice audio and treatment of the visual! I caught the phrase title and recognized that it was used in Balkan Trilogy by 1 actor who said it was Tennyson's work and the main character, Guy Pringle, corrected him saying Byron.
brother, thank for read this poem. I am a English Teaching student at the Pedagogical College in Maturin Venezuela. I have to make a presentation of this poem and I finaly found the real pronunciation. thanks men. Rognard Marín.
thanks for answer me. Could you please tell me more about this poem? I have a presentation on tuesday 19th. I am confusing. the professor is sooooo hard and I need to pass this presentation. Please, help me. I am a spanish native speaker. please I'll wait. Thanks.
Ohhh This is just lovely Vox! You dear blessed friend of mine thank you , thank you for providing me with a way to hear my most favorite piece anytime I feel like it.
I love this and you read it beautifully and the music is PERFECT. It just IS! I am so glad you are back and I am serious, when I heard that you were not on YT anymore I mumbled to myself "well if that man is gone then what is the point?" So I am SOOO glad that you are back. TY TY once again for this beautiful gift. I just love it and you.
A very long time ago now, Miss SarryCrey did a response to to one of your videos (at least I think it was one of yours): "Re: Culture on YouTube" where she read this poem and gushed. It was very cute. It's gone now. I think it had copyrighted music.
You know, I had a very middle-class upbringing and a very poor schooling: anything I know, I'm sure I learned myself (and I'm sure that's not much). And poetry has, in my 40 years, never been introduced to me. I've read it. I've loathed it. I've found it affected and wanting. You read it, though, and it makes me want to weep. contd...
...Thank you for bringing me closer to Bryon's works. I particularly loved the line "And all that's best of dark and bright / Meet in her aspect and her eyes". I feel I comprehend that line perfectly.
You are too kind. I was forced to read this stuff at a young age and hated it. Hated it. I just couldn't see it at all! Its only now that I'm even beginning to understand it. Thanks for your kind comments.
I remember finding Shakespeare so very difficult to understand. But watching it performed - hearing the correct intonation - made it comprehensible. As a beginner, you have obviously grasped and embraced it because you certainly made it understandable for me. :)

Lord Byron wrote this for one of his various women; which, I don't know.
It was the most memorable and romantic poem I read in high school.

This was written about his cousin, not any of his attachments. It is merely about beauty, not about love.

You might be right ;)
voxinabox 3 years ago
well he was at one time or another in love with three of his own cousins!! such intensity about beauty i don't think so...
urbanangel13 3 years ago
true, it was about his cousin and sounds like awsome admiration of beauty, but that's also love.
Don't forget that he didn't have any restrains; and why should he??
he fell in love and in bed with Augusta, his half-sister :))))

I see. Try and get a translation of my notes to this video. I tried to translate it into Spanish but failed, sorry about that.
voxinabox 4 years ago
Well it's a great reading, but I thought that Byron intended his poem to be jolly and enthusiastic, as though he was love-crazed and stunned.
