I myself have very long finger nails for guitar playing too including my thumb and the thumb is used for many things but i mainly use it for playing harmonics with my right hand using the thumb nail as a pick and place my pointer finger on the note so i can play harmonics with my right hand and a melody with my left

It makes life 100x easier if you have long nails on 1 hand. Why is it disgusting?? I mean, sure we're all entitled to our own opinions, but I fail to see why it's disgusting lol.

I know it's easier and most of the time also sounds better with long nails on one hand. But long finger nails look really stupid - in my opinion at least. Having it only on one hand is even worse.

True, it is personal preference. But I have them on one hand myself. Most people just ask if I play guitar when they see it lol. But as you say, It's all personal preference.

Yeah, it's a lot better, and has 39046803945x more natural feel than any finger picks.

It's unfortunate though, when the nails break. If you don't reinforce it with nail strengthening stuff or anything of that sort, they can break pretty easily.

Takes forever to grow them.

I never knew that, makes sense though, especially the playing he does those nails take a beating! I tried growing my nails out for when i play acoustic songs etc just because I like the sound a lot better, I think I lasted like 3 months and I HAD to cut them lol.

@yalolol I don't reinforce mine with anything. They never usually break. But I have very strong nails due to never biting them etc.

Well, I don't exactly bite them, but here and there, due to their length, they get bent. So, after a lot of bends and such, they either chip on one side, or they get messed up.

The only thing I can think of reinforcing it with is stuff to apply over your nails to make them stronger or whatever. I've been thinking of trying it.

As for the disgusting part, the only reason why it's so is because it gets pretty gross under your nails. But as long as you clean them correctly, it's okay.

True points. Generally I keep mine fairly short, bout 1/4 of an inch on the fingers and upto 1/2 an inch on the thumb, so it holds quite well. I just make sure I clean them regularly to remove the grime ^^

i think it's a PRS custom made for him. it's made of carbon fibre i think which gives it the unusual sound
