Couldn't you do this to anyone? I've done something very similar by shooting the greybeard guys. It seems like you would just have to be shooting someone that is a high level before they loose too much health and attack you. With the greybeards you would shoot them 3 times then wait 5 secs, although you do not get the archery training

That's where you're wrong, Doctor. You see, paper money isn't actually made from tree bark - it's made from cotton fiber. Through a complex process, cotton or linen fabric is ground, and beaten until it's very fibrous, and then mixed and flatened. They do this because cotton fibers bond better than wood pulp fibers. So money, in fact, really doesn't grow on trees :) Thanks for the insight though - I found it instructive and illuminating (rofl).

I found an even faster way to level archery. Go to Darkshade Cavern with a crap load of iron arrows & a long bow so u will do little dmg with ur shots. Kill off all the trolls except 1. Use the last troll as target practice. Its hp regens fast so it will stay alive for thousands of shots. Use Unrelenting Force to knock it down from time to time so things dont get too hairy for u. When ur out of ammo shout the troll down & run out of the cavern. This way u dont have to wait for a respawn.

You can do this with Aela in Jorrvaskr, after you've completed the questline for the Companions, she has a option to follow you, and you can train archery from her (5 times a level though).

Ask her to follow you afterwards, take back your money, and there you go!

You can also do this with any follower that can train you, Aela is just a example.
