Extraordinario. Una interpretación de auténtico manual: suavidad, dulzura, canto elegíaco y legato, fraseo mayúsculo y un fiato de infarto. Hay que ver el legato monumental que hace en el primer "Bella tu sei..." y el modo en que cierra el arioso: con una frase larguísima y mantenida hasta el infinito. Y todo ello cantado con una expresividad y una dulzura que son imprescindibles, a mi entender, para esta hermosa página. Un diez. He ahí la perfección.

There are great singers, Callas, Kraus, Pears, Schwarzkopf, Stratas, Bergonzi, who were not endowed with the greatest voices, but compensated with impeccable technique and an intuitive sense of the characterization of he roles they sang. Bergonzi was a jewel of a tenor.

Being a former tenor myself I couldn't agree more. His technique is the best. I've always loved his singing. I also think he was under-rated by many but very much appreciated by those who knew the difference between a fine voice and a flashy one.

I agree and for some reason in my mind I always hear Corelli do this, Bergonzi is the better singer for tech. but Corelli has some electric singing in this also. Guess you cannot compare a lyric spinto to a true spinto- or Dramatic tenor though so they both did it well but very different.
