  • @Lillie1986 Dropped the engine in my 951 today, and I can confirm it is a heavy, heavy engine. It may look small from above, but there is a lot of engine hidden below. For a 4 cylinder it is huge.

  • Haters and nerds aside, this is a very sensible conversion for a water cooled Porsche. If it was in an air cooled 911 I would object but this LS3 V8 conversion is epic. Nice job.

The water cooled 944 and many other Pre Boxster cars wqere alittle bit weak and damp on performance grounds. Again nice job.

  • nice job.

  • Love the car, more vids please :)

  • that motor looks smoooooth.Nice work.

  • great work.....I am about to buy my own 944. please post more videos.

  • can u buy like a conversion kit or do you have to fab it all yourself ? also what gearbox ? t56 ?

  • @rs200000000000 Conversion kits for the LT/LS swaps are available from Renegade Hybrids. Gear box to be used with said swap should be 944 Turbo gearbox, being these are rear trans-axle set up's, with a Torque Tube transferring the power to the rear, instead of a drive line. the NA 944 Gear box wont stand up to the power of the V8

  • @tribaldrummergod thanks for the site thats great, yea i kno the score with the gearbox now ive also been told to use the n/a fith gear as its longer than the turbo one

  • @rs200000000000 yup, thats right. Most who use the NA 5th gear also put a 5th gear guard in as well

  • oh god its so nasty!

  • Hey Buddy!!!! It's been a long time since i've been on the forums! I stumbled across this video and I wanted to say congrats on the ls3 conversion!!!! Hope all is well for you and your family. :) I hope to see more at some point! :)

  • way to ruin a Porsche... shoulda stuck with the 2.5

  • @zestydude87

How did you figure this? Troll.

  • @zestydude87

It would be foolish to stick with the 2.5L. I wish my modified 2.5L had the reliability the LS3 offers....

  • @zestydude87 Because 330hp (stock engine), same weight balance, and a bullet proof engine is such a terrible thing to have in a 2800lb perfectly handling car. The only thing wrong with the 944 is the 2.5 iron pig under the hood. My 951 is going to receive an LS1 soon.

  • @ultimate157 The stock M44/51 is an aluminium block/head engine that with only minor modifications will give you 300 hp easely. As its MUCH lighter than the LS1 and doesnt require a front mounted gearbox its definately the way to go.

LS1 swaps are good ways to completely ruin a perfectly balanced car. But then again theyre always made in america, the land of the stupidly ignorant.

  • @Lillie1986 The LS1 weighs in, fully assembled, at just over 400lbs. The 951 engine weighs in at just under 400lbs. Turbo items add a lot of weight, and are removed when converting to the aluminum V8.

The conversion uses the stock 951 transaxle as well. With very little modification to the LS1 you can get over 400hp and be 10x more reliable than a modified turbo engine. A converted car was weighed in to have the same weight balance that the stock car has.

A little research goes a long way.

  • @ultimate157 I cant find any information on the weight of the M44/51 but I really really doubt its that heavy.

  • Can anyone tell me if I stick my LS1 in my Porsche 944 can I use a corvette transmission ¿

  • Gentlemen, Hello and how are you all. I am now in the beginning stages of doing a LS3 conversion on the IFC Racing Yellow Widebody car I built last year. I could use any and all imput on what I am getting into . Any ideas, suggestions, or help will make this a more enjoyable experience for us all. nsaneon and applebit924 I know for sure, your stuff looks great. m.

  • Very cool - lets see this car complete now! Check out my LS1 converted Porsche as well!

  • running your motor without headers or an exhaust manifold is extremely bad and can bend valves, never do this again.

  • @PinelochTundra

Yeah, thats why we only ran it for 10 seconds. We really just needed to make sure that the computer, after being shipped out for all the reprogramming and such, would run the engine. If not, we wanted to ship it back right away......plus I wanted to see fire! The programming and wire harness modifications were a success!

  • @PinelochTundra ^ THIIIIISSS

the lsx motors are prone to frying valves when this is done

  • very cool! what are you expecting for power?

  • wow! cant wait to see it in a race looks great

  • I love it how you dont even have the headers fitted. Haha. Beautiful car, should be pretty darn quick.

  • Sounds great man!
