Low level battle versus Ovan (Redemption)

How come your party members are so low in levels? I thought they will raise their level as you raise yours? How to not let them level up?

@Frozendragons If this is enough to blow your mind, you should watch segment 18 of my speed run. The fight with Ovan alone lasts only about 24 seconds with Haseo at LV. 98, Atoli at 91, and Endrance at 88.

Such is the strength of elemental Counters. They make low level characters into virtual land mines. >:)

Whats wrong with you people just use the basic weapon he starts with, the first the dual balde he starts with, the board swords he gets when he gets the fist job extension and the scythe he gets from the second job extension

WTF. How is it wrong for someone to not use those weapons? None of those weapons have 3 Slots, Scythe Shouxiao can't be alchemized until near the end of the game (which actually wouldn't make much of a difference for it anyway), and unless it's a challenge where you can only use the Starting Weapons or some other reason, it barely makes any sense to use them until the end. >_>

OMG! U b34t him that fast im lvl 118 and i cant g3t him(also i got the game the tuesday of this w33k meaning ive played only a few days and i started with a save file *lvl 94*) but th3n again im using pi and at0li so got any tips

Though I do have a question. Have you tried to see if Ovan has SP? I don't have any saves before the Ovan fight, so I couldn't test.

If I'm reading it right, 675 SP. And yes, apparently he does need to use it; his shockwave attack for example appears to cost him 35 SP. This is offset by the fact that enemies have much better natural SP regeneration than characters do, and Tri-Edge isn't an exception... I would guess the rate is somewhere around what you get standing still for a long time/riding on the bike (the bike automatically gives you the best SP regeneration rate). I didn't take stills, so consider this an estimate.

A couple other notes I just found out (I decided to play around):

- The invincibility bug was taken out of Redemption completely.

- Ovan has Magic -25%. If you brought in a really low leveled character, it might be possible to finish Ovan even quicker through a couple of counters and a single Berserker strike. I have no idea what he has on the Physical side since my Drains don't work outside Awakening on this file.

It doesn't have to be Rig Saem, it's just the most popular way of executing it. But yeah, that's the one.

Amazing o3o A perfect timing pretty much in all the battle and the Avatar fight, i beated him too at lv115 but took about 10 min and i was a n00b for Corbenik 2nd's fight and Mental Vampirism is EVIL XP Why you didn't use the Hidaru in the awakening though?

I was hesitant to draw it out because I have a bit of trouble effectively guard canceling during Beast Awakening with either swords or scythes. However, I'm a lot more confident with the Edge Punisher class, which helps me adjust faster. It's a preference issue, not a technical one. :\

I also thought I did switch when writing the description, which is why I mentioned it and not the armors (since no one got hit).
