  • Good presentation,

    Not liking the bass tho

  • This guitar has a MONSTER neck, almost 49mm at the nut :O

  • So awesome! So happy he was a part of Rush once, but happier he went to a party instead of a gig in '68 and Geddy took his place!

  • Sounds like my explorer bass.

  • This guy was in Rush? How come he's never talked about or how Geddy or Alex never mention him in their documentary.

  • @MaxtheMetalhead he got replaced by geddy lee in the summer of 1968, when it was him, alsex lifeson (current rush guitarist) and John rusley (original drummer, replaced by neil pert in summer 1974)

I think the reason he wasn't mentioned was because they weren't really dignified as rush then and he played such a small part in rush. Maybe they all had a fight and didn't want to talk about it :s

  • @CircusEnvy23 They would still mention him if he actually were before Geddy Lee.

  • can you get that growl sound like the jazz bass?

  • Sounds like shiet, eastwood is such a bad company

  • You are the guy who was in Rush, Red Rider, and Ocean? You rock man, cool to see you on Youtube!

  • Ya Know , I just bought one of these and should be getting it and when Jeff says : " Hi Flyer " he's kinda rolling his eyes . Worries me ...

  • were can you get one of these !

  • @i18k myrareguitarsdotcom :)

  • I got this one in black, I'm a beginner bass player and I like this instrument very much!

  • Didn't this guy found Rush?

  • @Lethkhar14 yea with alex and john

  • @Lethkhar14 - No. Lee and Lifeson were together first, and had a temporary split where Rush was Lifeson, Rutsey and Jones. Lee later rejoined, and the rest of the story you already know.

In 1971, Jeff Jones played with the group Ocean, playing and singing on the #1 US hit "Put Your Hand In The Hand". He was later a founding member of Red Rider, with numerous hits such as "Lunatic Fringe", "Human Race", "White Hot", "Cowboys In Hong Kong" and several others.

    .

  • I hear a fret buzz....

  • geddy lee is cooler

  • What's the balance like on that thing?

    Cheers.

  • I've got a 76 Univox Hi-Flier and the balance is not an issue at all. unless of course your talking tonally. It's so very snappy, the highs seem to be way more responsive than the lows, i really have to adjust my amp settings before i plug it in.

  • Thanks!

  • Mine arrived today! Identical to the one shown in the video. Very happy with the instrument (cool sound and look, and perfect finishing). Positevely suprised about how brightly this bass can sound.

  • That sucks.

I wanted to buy one of these, but theres awful fretbuzz all over the place =(

  • you can set it up to get rid of the fret buzz

  • @HLGGanoth it sounds quite good if you ask me

  • @HLGGanoth imsure you could ajust it

  • @HLGGanoth Gawd you have an amazing ear! Cause someone like me, or maybe even a professionally trained musician, would not call that `fretbuzz`, but instead something we bass players like to call `` growl``! It`s quite ludicrous, i know, but its one of those things you just gots ta know once you get to that wonderful milestone of playing the instrument for more than a week.

  • not bad... i wonder why i havent heard of them before.

  • is that a short scale?

  • yes, 30" scale. Same as the original.

  • didn´t anybody noticed that Rochester basses are also bringing a huge sound and costing around 300 ??!! I eman that sound cant be aplied to any specific style.. thats the only bad part... like a 4x4 but with that thing

  • Great Bass! Lee Dorman played 1 of the original Mosrites or Univox Hi-fyler w/ Iron Butterfly. LD was/is a fantastic bassist. You should play some IB licks on this video jeff...or I can!

  • Geddy is WAY better than this guy I'm glad they replaced him.

  • they're both equally good. Jeff's style is just different.

  • ya but without geddy we probably wouldn't have limelight, red barchetta, working man,tom sawyer,XANADU,u know the awesome stuff that makes rush, rush

  • I agree, it does have that great ric tone. I'd love to own one just to fiddle around with on some funk riffs every now and then.

  • I have heard for years that the Univox-Mosrite

copies from the 70s sound EXACTLY like Rics.

Too bad Eastwood no longer makes this one in 34" long scale.

  • Yeah, too bad. =(

  • Sounds alot like my Rickenbacker 4003.

  • What amp are you using

  • It's probably going through a direct in box.

  • y isnt the plastic guitar plastic mike?
