Drops support a lot in the middle of a phrase. Needs to sing with full support THROUGH the phrase. Does not understand how to control volume. Pushes for loud, drops support and adds air for soft. Both very common faults and injurious to the voice in the long run.

THIS is the way 1 should sing when attempting to do "Dark" tones! This guy's got it goin' on! Listen to how the top notes remain having the brilliance:) It's the perfect balance:) I can't wait for a recital CD to come out so I can listen to it all day long...no joke! I once saw him years ago in LA in a concer where he cracked on "Pourquoi me reveiller!" Very difficult to imagine this now! BRAVO Charles!!! Proves that everyone's human...including this GREAT TENOR! I heard him live in traviata a month ago. I agree...he can really balance light and dark and his top is great. His middle sounded a little throaty/pushed a few times - like during the drinking song and other energetic scenes - but his lunge de lei and o mio rimorso were both excellent.
