Ah man. After watching Queen live at Wembley '86, this just cannot possibly compare. No competition. I appreciate what Paul Rodgers tries to do here and he knows he has the biggest shoes in the world to fill in this respect. But I suppose I'm just sad that Freddie isn't around anymore. He was such an amazing entertainer and he made people feel good.
@sergimay4 That's a horrible idea. If they were going for a Freddie soundalike they could find someone a LOT better than Marc, but they DON'T want a soundalike.
WOOOOOOOOO! !! I always wanted to see this performed live... I love this.. If it makes me smile then im sure freddy be smiling at this too :3.. The way i see it... If they had gotten someone imitating Freddy... it would create a bigger emptyness.. like people would feel more like.. this is good but not the same..
The truth is one of Freddie, but ... I'm glad that Paul is not trying to imitate Freddie, but sings as it knows best. And it works very well. Freddie was certainly pleased with my choice. Enjoy ...
I personally think this song really suits Paul's voice! He sings all of the Queen songs very well, don't get me wrong, I just think this one sounds really good for him :)
Everyone knows that there is only one Freddy and there is no comparison. Paul Rogers does an admiral job with the music and it's great to see Brian Maye and Roger Taylor performing live. The music is timeless and I pray that they continue to perform for as long as the good lord let's them! This isn't a contest, it's talented artist sharing their gift!
it's not the same with the legendary Freddie Mercury, this is like Nirvana without Kurt Cobain =| only the god die young, freddie you are the best 4ever
Ouch!!! That is like watching a bad accident. I had to switch off after 1:00 How did Queen think this idea would work? And why would you want to re-sing / gargle-sing a rock icon's song anyway?
I agree with the top poster for the most part except that I think Paul destroys Freddie. Try picturing Freddie trying to sing Burning Sky, Radioactive, All Right Now or anything else Paul has done. Paul's career is every bit as lustrous as Freddie's and he didn't die because he sucked too many dicks.
@samhain1967 LMAO talk about biased. What on earth does Freddie's sexuality have to do with his music or singing voice??? Paul Rogers is a great singer but not in Freddies league, and he never will be. Paul may have been the big thing in his fans eyes, but to the rest of the world Freddie is better. Simple as that. Paul does the best he can with Queens work, and he does sound great. But Freddie was greater singer and artist of the two. But each to their own lol.
@sabretoothJones You must be stoned. First of all, I am a singer myself and know who is the better singer technically.... but since most people base their opinions on the style of music and tone of voice they like better, all I can say to you is that while Paul doesn't have the same tone Freddy did, he still sings his songs amazingly. And like I said in my previous post you probably won't get that until you hear Freddy sing some Bad Company songs which won't happen since he is dead.
@samhain1967 ''and like I said in my previous post you probably won't get that until you hear Freddy sing some Bad Company songs which won't happen since he is dead'', lol so it renders your point mute. @samhain1967 'Any true singer' so your not only prejudiced with regards to sexuality your also arrogant and self rightous. And if your 'when Freddie sang high he was singing in falsetto which anyone can do' is comical at best as most artists who have sang Queens work have had to change the keys because they cannot hit those notes. Your obviously aint got a clue and I'll rest my case rather than arguing with a biased Paul Rogers fan. Paul is great but never will be in Freddies league. Get over it
@sabretoothJones And anyone who tries to sing Paul's songs can't do them at all never mind changing keys. I think you forget that a a major part of Queen's songs use tons of backing vocals and you're attributing all that to Freddie's voice and you just can't do that. Paul Rodgers may not be Freddy but to anyone that would doubt his talent is wrong. The guy is class and most of those that listen and love queen would have also listened to Free and Bad Company and loved them.
@Damzelbum I agree, Paul Rodgers does an admirable job on all the Queen songs he sings. Sure, he's not Freddie, but he certainly sings these songs much better than a ton of people.
@Damzelbum Paul Rodgers was Freddie's favorite singer! He is obviously much more talented than so many haters out there think. If your wanting to listen to Queen w/o Paul, do so. For those of us thankful to still hear Queen live, we say: "Thank You!"
With some rare exceptions its often a little uncomfortable hearing one person sing another person's song. This song was written to fit the style and range of the group's original singer - Freddie. It probably would have been as awkward to have Freddie sing Bad Co / Free tunes, more than likely they wouldn't have fit that well
Paul has a tremendously smooth, rich and melodic voice, Freddie had a powerful theatrical style with phenomenal range
This is awful singing. will never be the same without freddie around, he was and still is one hell of a front man for the band, such a big shame and he will never be forgotten!!
me DA LATA VER A PAUL CON QUEEN ADEMAS QUE NO ESTA JOHN ESO FREDDIE ES LO MAXIMO PAUL NO CANTA NADA BRIAN UN GENIO EN LA GUITARRA Y ROGER UN GENIO EN LA BATERIA. PAUL PESIMO.
i said that in my comment also, he makes it his own, its still stepping into freddies shoes cause hes replacing the original frontman of hte group, doesnt men hes trying to be freddie
STOP MOANING FOR GOD SAKE Freddie is gone he was a true legend and will be remembered in our hearts forever, but paul is not trying to replace him hes singing WITH QUEEN not replacing freddie at all, notice it says queen AND paul rogers so stop bitching and start thanking for the music
Freddie Mercury is consitered one of the most inportant rockstars of rock n roll history and I miss him so much. Queen wouldn't be where they are today if it wasn't for Freddie. He's almost dead 20 years.
I love Paul Rogers. He's a brilliant rock singer and it's just impossible and unnecessary to compare him with Freddie. His versions of these songs are not similar to those we heard by Freddie, but we can't expect that, can we.
In my mind, the people who complain that Paul Rodgers was bad for Queen, clearly didn't have the thrill to see them live together....... It was different, yes, but still great fun
No one ever appreciate the other 3 members of Queen who were so important and actually contributed to lyrics and vocals to most songs. Long live Queen, Freddie will be missed and can never be replaced, but thank the lord we still have May, Taylor, and Deacon.
PAUL is not and i repeat NOT trying to replace Freddie, he is a rock legend himself and i believe personally that Freddie would be honored and flattered that another legend INTERPRETED some of his songs. How interesting would it be to hear Freddie sing Bad Co. songs???? Cause Queen does a damn good job of playing em.
I couldn't agree more with the fact that Paul is not and was not trying IN ANY WAY to be Freddie during this whole Q+PR thing. I went to numerous shows as they toured America and not once did I ever feel that Paul was trying to be Freddie. In my opinion, the songs sounded great and Paul put his own spin on things that went over quite well on SOME songs. Not everything worked, but I didn't expect it to. I was satisfied with their performances.
Once and for all, lets put this "Paul will never be Freddie" bullshit to rest. NOBODY will EVER be Freddie...EVER!! But give Paul, Brian and Roger some fucken credit for having the balls to get up on stage to ENTERTAIN YOU unappreciative fucks who always bitch and complain about it not being Freddie. FREDDIE IS GONE. We all love him and miss him, but remember, these Queen songs weren't written with PAUL in mind. ANYBODY will have problems singing them...just ask Robert Plant, a rock GOD.
@Robertg71 This is only my opinion, while i love Freddie, I like Paul Rodgers soulful singing style over Freddies Flamboyant borderline cabaret' voice. Freddie had an awesome range. Paul has a lot of soul. Kinda like comparing Eric Clapton to Yngwie Malmsteen. One is soul and the other is technique, y'know?
@Robertg71 Totally agree with you mate on all of your points. I also think that Paul did an amazing job with Queens work vocally, probably better than anyone else has ever done (bar Freddie obviously).
I found a CD with Queen + rodgers do you think I have to buy it to encourage them contenue concerts or is silly because monay will go to recording companies?
@MacGovernor Queen weren't a touring band by the time this song came out so the studio version is the only one with Freddie on it. There is another version at the Freddie tribute concert.
@MacGovernor No such thing as a live performance of this song with Freddie. By the time this song came out in 1989 they had not been on the road for over 2 1/2 years. And Freddie was tested positive for HIV which later became full blow AIDS. Tried to keep his life as private as possible. A live version of this song with Freddie would have to be super mega rare.
Yeah we all know that Paul Rogers will never be Freddy Mercury. But I gotta say, he sure can sing I Want It All pretty goddamn well! No complaints here!
fuck the people that say that paul never gonna be freddie, he never wanted to be freddie, thats why the group was called "Queen + Paul Rodgers", if brian and roger wanted to do queen again, they would put someone like george michael, or robbie williams, that are singers that can sing LIKE freddie, but they bring a new style, with a singer, to a new band.
'The Miracle Tour'! - That would have been awesome!!

En gros, cette version ne vaut rien.

There are no live preformances of this song with freddie?
SamarGr 1 year ago
@SamarGr Yes, because this song was released in 1989, freddie was diagnosed with HIV in 1987. The Band knew they could never tour again.

PAUL is not and i repeat NOT trying to replace Freddie, he is a rock legend himself and i believe personally that Freddie would be honored and flattered that another legend INTERPRETED some of his songs. How interesting would it be to hear Freddie sing Bad Co. songs???? Cause Queen does a damn good job of playing em.
bleedforme1981 1 year ago
@bleedforme1981

Robertg71 1 year ago 65
@Robertg71 Well said. Freddy was a genious, but oh does this Queen sound good live. They rock still rock !
tonvenhuizen 1 year ago
@Robertg71 This is only my opinion, while i love Freddie, I like Paul Rodgers soulful singing style over Freddies Flamboyant borderline cabaret' voice. Freddie had an awesome range. Paul has a lot of soul. Kinda like comparing Eric Clapton to Yngwie Malmsteen. One is soul and the other is technique, y'know?
bleedforme1981 1 year ago
@Robertg71 You hit it right on the head, thats why the group is billed as Queen+Paul Rodgers. Good on ya mate
stansmith 9 months ago
@Robertg71 Totally agree with you mate on all of your points. I also think that Paul did an amazing job with Queens work vocally, probably better than anyone else has ever done (bar Freddie obviously).

Where can I find Queen + Freddie Mercury's live version of this?
MacGovernor 1 year ago
@MacGovernor Queen weren't a touring band by the time this song came out so the studio version is the only one with Freddie on it. There is another version at the Freddie tribute concert.
DanThomasMusic 1 year ago
@MacGovernor Queen + Freddie never performed this song live.
panzaro966 1 year ago 3
@MacGovernor No such thing as a live performance of this song with Freddie. By the time this song came out in 1989 they had not been on the road for over 2 1/2 years. And Freddie was tested positive for HIV which later became full blow AIDS. Tried to keep his life as private as possible. A live version of this song with Freddie would have to be super mega rare.

Yeah we all know that Paul Rogers will never be Freddy Mercury. But I gotta say, he sure can sing I Want It All pretty goddamn well! No complaints here!
uredbulldawg 1 year ago
fuck the people that say that paul never gonna be freddie, he never wanted to be freddie, thats why the group was called "Queen + Paul Rodgers", if brian and roger wanted to do queen again, they would put someone like george michael, or robbie williams, that are singers that can sing LIKE freddie, but they bring a new style, with a singer, to a new band.
