I agree with you guys, except on the "closet" cosplay. When I first started cosplaying, I had no income and was busy in college. I had no clue how to even sew on a button. We had fun being creative and coming up with recognizable costumes out of our closets and Goodwill. We still do a little bit of that, mixed in with what we make. If you take the time and are creative, it can be cool and still require effort. I'm self taught at making costumes and have a lot to learn,.
