...this side was originaly on the 'Time' record label. There's a tune called 'Sunday' that kills. Could you post that !
(the best way to clean off old sides is to use a luke-warm wash cloth and wipe in the same direction as the tone-arm/needle would. Don't use soap 'cause it may leave residue that will actually pick up more sheeit, dig !?!)
How, do you think thoes old LP records should be cleaned prior to playing again.
.
I have a record that has been stored for probably forty years.
.
It is in mint condition except for the ...some sort of stuck-on white dust (it ain't actually dust), it may be some residual thing from the atmosphere.
.
I wiped it with a wet then dry facial tissues; any better soultions, buddy?
Hmm, that's tough. I might try a micro-fiber cloth (like for cleaning camera lenses or glasses) and some *really* mild soap. Be careful about rubbing, if there is *any* grit left over (ie: not fully cleaned out), rubbing could cause scratching due to the grit.
There used to be (sticky) roller devices but that's bad cuz it drives dirt *into* the grooves. So careful washing is probably better.
Dear chaszolin, Thanks very much for your response and great suggestions. . I will be sure not to rub the existing grit into the record. . Many thanks. . P.S. I like Carmen McRea singing: "I'm always drunk in San Francisco" . I have an audiotape copy of this ancient recording, that I bought when I was on vacation in San Francisco in 1988. .
I hear Nancy Wilson in her voice, (not the white rock singer)

@MoilAndToil the white stuff may be a kind of mold.....wash off in lukewarm water....(not hot......it'll warp the disk) proceed from there.

@Docnolan1953 another good thing I use is one of those electrostatic dust attractors......better than rubbing.
