@bburde2 Probably because the maker didn't have voice actors for it.

Honestly, I find it adds some style to it, and I give props to him for turning what was a handicap into a plus.

Besides, if no voice actors means the anime is easier/cheaper to make, then so be it. If anything, I'd rather have a lackluster Touhou anime than no Touhou anime at all.

Sorry. Didn't mean to sound so preachy about how animation is made... Now looking back at my post, I think I sounded a bit arrogant. I hope that someone that reads it appreciate more of this wonderful work (and now, because you replied to my post, I'm watching it again XD; I can't... stop... it's... too damn good!!!). I would love if, somehow, they could make works like this in 2 weeks, or even 2 months. But alas, 'tis a dream.

... Plus, there's also, after the drawings and animations are done, they have to make the effects as well. In this case, they made an introduction, an opening, the movie itself, the credits (with a side animation), and an epilogue! It's a very top quality work, specially if they didn't make it for profit. They deserve a lot of respect, kudos, and if it wouldn't break copyright laws, I would definitely buy a DVD from them! They deserve the money after all the trouble to make this masterpiece.

I don't think even a large group could do it in 2 months. there's a lot of work before they begin drawing, such as deciding the story, "script" (how the story goes - might also be called narrative), then make the storyboard (key animation points). Also, while people draw and animate, other people get the sounds and music done. While all this happen, they constantly have to analize their work to see if it's alright, if it can still be done, or if it'll have to be changed...

...Although, it develops a bit too fast for my liking. If the pace was slowed a bit, split it into two or three parts, it would be perfect. The reason *I* read/watch/listen to a doujin is to find out the author's interpretation of the characters... can't find one here. Stages 1-4 took up very little time. Such a pity, too.
