this is just 3 times tension and release around the same chord, that's the principle you can apply on ANY chord, when it's being playd for a few bars, go back to it's dominant and back again.
It's much more useful (an easier) to think in terms of tension and release, than "licks" (IMHO)
@usalespaul59 Well said. The tension-release aspect of the chromaticism is a big part of bebop. I think the learning of a few "licks" to get the sound under your fingers is OK, but you are right to shun the tendency to get too dependent on thinking of "licks."
I love it. It helps to break up those boring licks I've already been using. I hate learning licks but now that I've learned how to use the bebop scale, a lick like this fits right in going up or coming down. Thanks and give us more please.
Any chance you could put this into sheet music for me? I'd really appreciate it as I'm new to jazz and I'd like to work this out from sheet music, as i find it hard to understand your talk of 9ths etc in the video. PM me if you can.
What was meant by the '3 times tension and release" comment?

@14luisalonso Thanks. It was recorded into Cubase. The drum track is an EZ Drummer loop.

(and the Dflat just "pulls" to the D natural and resolves this way)

the Dflat is the "tension" bit, which is from the A alt
