If you put a 10mfd electrolytic capacitor between pin 1 and eight, you gonna increase its gain to 200 (46 db) and that's loud enough for a small room setup for a fairly good speaker.
The lm386 comes in many "varieties" 0.3, 0.5 and 0.7 watt and I think there's is also a 30 watt version of the lm386. Your one might be one of the more powerful ones, besides even half a watt can sound quite loud if you use good speakers.
The circuit that was breadboarded is the first schematic presented with the exception that the potentiometer was simply replaced with a fixed voltage (Vdd). But yes, there is a small discrepancy.
i feel like making one of these and posting a video of me making it but mostly i just hack into electronics to harvest and use the amps, i can hijack the volume control of an amp and connect a line in into it
Like you videos. I am just starting in electronics. I have read a lot but would like to build a project. Would this be a good starter project. I have also looked at the 555 timer projects.
Awesome, I think I might make one. I think you should include a PDF or schematic in the description, along with your email addresses: I don't think most people would take the time to copy your email from the video.
I added an LM386 amplifier to my "beater" Gameboy Advance and made the sound come out of the original speaker, with a 9 volt snap and most of the circuit hot-melt glued to the outside of the GBA. Now I can play most of my music collection in vibrant mono on my GBA through the tiny GBA speaker. It still hasn't blown the speaker yet, even when I played songs that I used Audacity's Leveler on Heavier AND I used clipping on the GBA music player. Of course, if you do use clipping, your ears bleed.
lol, that cap is blown!!!!

i can't wait to get my LM386, and you should try TDA2003 and TDA2006 they have enough power :D

how did you manage to solder the stereo ic directly to the board? i always use sockets but maybe i don't need to, eh?
kingswayguitar 1 year ago
@kingswayguitar the sockets aren't necessary (helpful, though)

Thanks for another interesting video! A remark: 2 x 2W is very good considering that the TDA7268 is just a chip amplifier.

The lm386 is a half watt only!? then why am i able to power a 2watt speaker and make it go really loud without damaging the chip?

CoolDudeClem 2 years ago
Actually it is the other way around. You won't damage the speaker since it rated to a superior wattage than the signal output from the amplifier.

I wish that their lesson about audio amplifiers had forgotten, because it is very exceptional...

your schematics and your bread board set up is not the same!

The amp I'm working on right now is a 400W digitally controlled beast.
