  • En 't zijn weer ollanders op de achtergond zuh

  • well i found the best custom BAG for sony NEX 3/5. It has an aluminium frame inside so you can drop it and sit on it :) And on the ouside, looks like a regular small wallet bag. So nooen gonna steal your camera. Check it out at: NEXbag.bymac.org

  • un dia me voy acomprar una haora solo tengo el modelo w350

  • wow LONDON Bridge.

  • Where did you film this??

  • sounds like malayalam in Video . Any Indians

  • and 1080P?

    and ZOOM??

    and CANELA???

  • part of video is sound and you record this with wind noise. also where's low light video? under the sun, all cameras look good.

  • this is great

  • very good quality

  • Any1 know if any external mic would fix the wind noise problem? From this sample it sounds horrible...

Also the video is 1080i according to details, that misleading...

  • @sirtechy The big turn-off for me was that it has no external mic jack, you have to use a proprietary sony D-Mic, and although i'm told it's good, it's still another cost on top of the camera.

  • @sirtechy you can really just make a windscreen to fit it using some padding foam.

  • Nice quality, though it does seem a bit fuzzy on the details. Then again, you can't really judge a 17Mbps 1080i camera recording on YouTube's sub 4Mbps playback rate.

  • this camera really needs a wind cut filter but good camera

  • on the end of the vid I can hear on the background some dutch people speaking XD

  • Please, use a tripod next time.

  • What I know is (720p@60fps) is better than

    (1080i@60fps)

And (1080p@60fps) is the best *(1080p) is not on this camera but it's (1080i@60fps) or u can choos (720p@60fps) witch as I knew better than (1080i@60fps)

    What you think ?

  • @123azo0oze123 I think you should learn to express yourself more clear

  • No manual control over aperture or shutter speed. Bugger.

  • @goyasunlight

Sony crippled the video on these cameras to a ridiculous extent. The whole point of shooting video with these big sensors is so you can achieve those night "filmic" depth of field shots. I was planning on getting one of these but the lack of control over video is a deal breaker for me. Without even the most minimum of controls the video on this camera is worthless. It's a pity. This camera has an amazing sensor.

  • @ar4216 What controls does it lack, because im in the market for a sub $1k vdeo camera and cannot decide between a true video camera like a cx-550v or this nex-5

  • @Jthumper

Hi jthumper. Over the coming weeks leading up to Photokina there should be a number of announcements from other manufacturers. There is a rumor that Nikon will be coming out with an entry level camera that can shoot 1080p in AVCHD at 24 frames per second. If it has manual controls that would be the camera I would look at. Unlike Canon, Sony, and Panasonic Nikon does not have a video camera division to protect. I would definitely go for a big sensor camera over a tiny sensor video cam.

  • The main reason is the big sensor will help to give you a more filmic image. Obviously there are other aspects to it as well- for example, frame rate. I would go with 24 frames per second. If you are intent on getting a sub $1,000 camera now I would like at the Canon 550D/Rebel T2i (same model, just a different name depending on where you live). That offers the best video/controls in my opinion for the price range. But like I said, I would wait a few more months and see what is around the corner

  • @Jthumper

By the way, if you just want to capture vids of your kids or something like that and you have no aspirations to make something that appears cinematic you would probably be better served with a dedicated video camera. A lot of indy filmmakers are going with the big sensor still cameras because they can offer those gorgeous depth of field shots that look much more cinematic and less like video. It just depends on what you're wanting to do. Good luck with whatever you choose.

  • tell me about the zoom ?

  • all the wind noise...

  • nice to see a new(and so compact) aps-c camera that shoots video, but why 1080i?

All hdtvs and displays are progressive native nowadays, I haven't seen an HD CRT in like 5 years.

  • does anyone notice any change at all when watching videos on youtube at 360p to 1080p. theres no difference

  • @Diarmuidp07 Get a new computer that can handle the HD quality then maybe you will notice.

  • @Diarmuidp07 Put it full screen and you will..

  • @Diarmuidp07 no you are wrong cose ther is a big big difference wen you watch the video in 360 p cose in 1080 p the video is PERFECT!!

  • THAT IS FRICKING NICE!!!

    看看我的节目!我是会说中文的美国人!!! =) 请给我评论?好吗? Xie Xie Ni!!!

  • #FTW

  • I don't have this camera.

  • But the Sony NEX-5 could maybe only records 1440 x 1080 in fact (like HDV-camcorders ) and than it will be interpolated to 1920x1080... =(

So mpgxsvcd if you are meaning 1440 x 1080 you are maybe right, but 1920x540 is definitely wrong.

  • So the interlaced material @ 60 fps is a combination of half images which are combined into a full image later. Just google it how interlace and progressive recording works. ;-)

  • And one thing more interlaced Material @ 60fps is like 30fps progressive Material this doesn't have to do much with Resolution.

Interlaced material just consists of half frames / half images

Progessive material consists of full frames / full images

  • I think you are wrong, it's full 1080i Record with 1920x1080 (16:9) @60 or 50 fps, what you are talking about is more the fact of cinemascope (with black stripes on 16:9 ) films on Blu-Ray which aren't recored at 16:9 most times. So the display can't show really 1920x1080 resolution. Why it should record 1920x540 on the NEX-5? It wouldn't be 16:9 screen size, because width is in 1920 Pixel so you need für 16:9 a highth of 1080 Pixel, that's why Full HD is 1920x1080 Pixels (on 16:9)

  • This camera is not a 1080p camera. It records 1080i which is referred to by some as full HD. However, 1080i when viewed on a progressive display, which all TVs and monitors are now, will be deinterlaced to 540p. I would rather see a 720p @ 60 FPS mode than a 1080i mode.

  • @mpgxsvcd @mpgxsvcd I'm not sure what you are talking about??? 1080i is actually 1080 lines resolution just like 1080p. All of those lines are recorded and you get full 1080 resolution. It is 60 fields, and 30fps. Depending on how you deinterlace, you "may" lose resolution, like when using "bobbing". But this doesnt have to be deinterlaced. Players are smart enough to do this, without losing any resolution.

Please read article about 1080i on wikipedia.

  • @whiteqtipful 1080i is records 1920x540 at 60 fields per second. No matter what you do it will not record more than 540 lines for each field. Yes you can interpolate it to 1920x1080 but then you can interpolate 720p to 1080p as well. Some 1080i looks great. However, that 1080i is actually 1080p @ 24 FPS progressive encapsulated in 1080i like the Panasonic GF1 records. In those cases you can actually get true 1080p.

  • @mpgxsvcd You still get more resolution out of 1080i

    1920x540 = 1,036,800 x60 fields/sec = 62,208,000 pixels/sec

    1280x720 = 921,600 x30 frames/sec = 27,648,000 pixels/sec

  • @videonevin Yes you do have slightly more resolution with 1080i than 720p 1,036 vs. 921. However, that difference is neglible. I don't know why anyone would ever care about pixels per second. That doesn't tell you anything.

  • it's available here in 1080p amongst other modes, and looks great in full screen, so I would say 1080p. I'm not even sure the NEX-5 does 720p - I think only the cheaper NEX-3 has that mode.

  • Was this taken at 1080p or 720p?

Also, was it in some sort of autofocus setting?

    thanks!

  • I consider that perfect for a camera.

  • Typical Dutch people i hear in the background audio :)

ps. This looks very sharp, unlike some other camera's that offer 720/1080p video but without the actual detail it should have.

  • @moviemonster86 yup, i think detail is very good for a DSLR video.

  • @platerplane - Not detail, i meant sharp. Being a compressed youtbe video much of the detail has been lost, but sharpness remains. Though if there was no sharpness there couldn't be much detail either, so at least we know from this that it has the first.
