my friend said he remembered me telling him not to watch this so at 10PM he started and finished and 3AM and said he had trouble sleeping, i was laughing at him at school so i decided to actually watch the anime myself, wow, it was so fucked up. but i'm not having trouble sleeping (i actually enjoyed this anime a little in a twisted way) and i also counted, Makoto actually slept with a total of 7 girls, all alone except one foursome.
i dont agree with this review at all cuz i know guys like makoto are closer to real than any other anime character. (ull never ever find a guy like naruto who can make every bad guy change their ways by crying and talk...thats not real life) makoto is basically like every guy...whether u want to believe it or not.....he is. guys think with their d*%k not their head. ive never cheated but i know how it is and its not as easy as "yeah so i dont like u anymore...bye." i think this anime was great.

watched the show. It was like the ending of death note IMO (without the F***ED up moment).= Very good ending, but questioned the character motives. Then never wanted to rewatch it. If anime gets you very emotionally attached to characters. Or get pissed off by what the characters are doing (laughed in episode 5), then by the end of the show. Your eyes will look dead as a fish in depression of learning a very important lesson. Anyway, Happy Mind F***ing if your going to watch it XD.

I honestly find the anime awesome in a way. It is of course awful and has no entertainment value. But the fact that the male lead being a total man whore had actual consequences was beautiful. The show is sick and disturbed and even quite boring throughout, but in my opinion it was worth it to see that bastard Makoto die in the end. Plus I love recommending it to people so that I can see their horrified reactions.

Sure its a Bad anime.. But It has a deep, message, that people should know, It's a lesson about Love, You can think that It's just a twisted anime.. But it shows the Consequences of Showing love, then taking it away It shows How Love isn't something you toy with You cherish it You don't Just Let yourself Succomb to Lust, Or Greed, If you love somebody.. I actually liked school days just fine. I do, however, completely agree with all the stuff you brought up. Makoto was just beating a dead horse with not just dumping Kotonoha, and when he finally did, he just HAD to put it in the harshest terms possible! Oh well. 2nd circle of hell awaits, you scumbag!
I watched this series earlier this year. It's not the worst series ever made (there's like worse anime like Garzey's Wing) but it's up there.
If Higurashi taught me anything, it's that when you become friends with girls, try not to befriend them if they're psychotic.
But School Days tries to be Higurashi too much to the point that by the end I wanted to laugh my ass off at how much it tries to copy Higurashi's formula with the female characters becoming murdering psycho's.
At least for this particular anime, you have failed to appreciate tragedy, scandal, the appeal of unsympathizable characters, and emotional roller coasters.

Hey, I liked it. In real life, oftentimes people ARE that stupid and cruel to do what Makoto did.
The whole scandal makes you sympathize with certain characters and unsympathetic to others, especially Makoto. All of that bullshit made me care more for the characters and the plot and wonder how it would all end. And when it does, it blows your fuckin' mind. I'd say that because of this, it's a good anime to recommend and is worth watching.

While this anime OBVIOUSLY had its flaws and REALLY did a great job at pissing people off with the inverted logic of the main character and his self-satisfying behavior, it still did have a message at the end of it. It represented the corrupting effect lust can have on people. (Once they are given a taste, they come back for much more)
As messed up and oblique this message was, it still had one. This itself is more that can be said for other anime.
Personaly School days is one of my favorite animes i have ever watched, but then again im one for dramas and tragidies, an amzing rolacoster ride of emotions. Plus have to give the series props for actualy proveing im capable of emotion :P

Yea this series is pretty bad. It has one of if the THE most unlikable and unsympathetic protagonists in any work of fiction i've ever experienced. But the slightly moralistic catharsis at its conclusion did force me to re-examine how bad of a boyfriend iv'e been in the past (I saw this senior year in high school) I vowed to never cheat or abuse the feeling of girls so as to limit the probablility that I get viciously stalked and murdered by a woman like Gen Close a la Fatal Attraction.
Also, the reason why this is so dark to us is because it was never intended for western audiences. There are plenty of darker animes out there, they are just all in Japan. A lot of eastern animes are like this or worse, it's just because they have a looser set of morals when it comes to things like this. Then again, this shows is rated R...
When I first watched the show, I got to episode 4 and then I skipped to episode 12. I liked that episode better than the entire anime...not surprising.

much like in real life except that the man usually gets killed by a gf while sleeping for nothing more then not giving her as much spending money as she would like... and afterward shell claim battered womens syndrome to get away with murder it happens all the time... so guys be real careful with women it could turn out like in this anime even if u never cheated and shell be let off the hook

i really fucking liked this anime. it starts like any kawaii comedy romance anime but it grows and becomes a disturbing treason story.

Sure its a Bad anime.. But It has a deep, message, that people should know, It's a lesson about Love, You can think that It's just a twisted anime.. But it shows the Consequences of Showing love, then taking it away It shows How Love isn't something you toy with You cherish it You don't Just Let yourself Succomb to Lust, Or Greed, If you love somebody.. You do not need anything else, You should Love the one you love, and not the one you don't love.

This series is just underrated and hated due to cruelty and stupid desicions in my opinion.
Plot: Original GREAT and well executed as one bad decisions leads to something worse.
Characters: Different from beginning to end showing no one dimentional characteristics.
Animation: Good or Very Good
Music: Only bad part,only fit two spots (episode 6 and the final part)
The reason you guys hate it was because it was designed to be hated. So the creators did their job

I actually liked school days just fine. I do, however, completely agree with all the stuff you brought up. Makoto was just beating a dead horse with not just dumping Kotonoha, and when he finally did, he just HAD to put it in the harshest terms possible! Oh well. 2nd circle of hell awaits, you scumbag!

I watched this series earlier this year. It's not the worst series ever made (there's like worse anime like Garzey's Wing) but it's up there.
If Higurashi taught me anything, it's that when you become friends with girls, try not to befriend them if they're psychotic.
But School Days tries to be Higurashi too much to the point that by the end I wanted to laugh my ass off at how much it tries to copy Higurashi's formula with the female characters becoming murdering psycho's.

At least for this particular anime, you have failed to appreciate tragedy, scandal, the appeal of unsympathizable characters, and emotional roller coasters.
And excuse me for having to take up three boxes worth of comments. Character limits... Just... Suck. As much I disagree with you about this particular review, I still enjoyed it the same as any of your other reviews. Keep up the good work.

It would have been nice if you didn't spoil the ending for those who were interested in watching it. And yes, you are being too harsh on it. You're saying the anime is shit jut because you don't like Makoto's stupid decision to be a complete bastard. But you're not supposed to! It wouldn't be a very original show if the relationships just went fine and dandy, now would it?

Hey, I liked it. In real life, oftentimes people ARE that stupid and cruel to do what Makoto did.
The whole scandal makes you sympathize with certain characters and unsympathetic to others, especially Makoto. All of that bullshit made me care more for the characters and the plot and wonder how it would all end. And when it does, it blows your fuckin' mind. I'd say that because of this, it's a good anime to recommend and is worth watching.

While this anime OBVIOUSLY had its flaws and REALLY did a great job at pissing people off with the inverted logic of the main character and his self-satisfying behavior, it still did have a message at the end of it. It represented the corrupting effect lust can have on people. (Once they are given a taste, they come back for much more)
As messed up and oblique this message was, it still had one. This itself is more that can be said for other anime.
Besides, it is nowhere near as bad as Kanokon

Personaly School days is one of my favorite animes i have ever watched, but then again im one for dramas and tragidies, an amzing rolacoster ride of emotions. Plus have to give the series props for actualy proveing im capable of emotion :P

Back when this anime came out I watched like 5 episodes then said it's boring because it look like your average high school romance. Then I heard about how messed up the ending was not sure exactly what everone was talking about so I decided to watch it over. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE

Yea this series is pretty bad. It has one of if the THE most unlikable and unsympathetic protagonists in any work of fiction i've ever experienced. But the slightly moralistic catharsis at its conclusion did force me to re-examine how bad of a boyfriend iv'e been in the past (I saw this senior year in high school) I vowed to never cheat or abuse the feeling of girls so as to limit the probablility that I get viciously stalked and murdered by a woman like Gen Close a la Fatal Attraction.

Also, the reason why this is so dark to us is because it was never intended for western audiences. There are plenty of darker animes out there, they are just all in Japan. A lot of eastern animes are like this or worse, it's just because they have a looser set of morals when it comes to things like this. Then again, this shows is rated R...

When I first watched the show, I got to episode 4 and then I skipped to episode 12. I liked that episode better than the entire anime...not surprising.
