American commentators need to calm down. This isn't Superbowl or some idiot american sport. Shut up, and give the analytics of the race. Don't just talk shit all the time, stuff some burgers into your fat mouth dumb americans.
I've watch a metric buttload of Northug clips tonight and all the European commentators go bonkers too. As soon as he starts sprinting, it's all roars and Oyoyoyoys!! or whatever. It's not chess, ffs.
@tore28 Peter Graves has commentated on a lot of races throughout the years, and I still don't think he gets whats going on, lol. I think he is still stuck in the 70's. He just likes to ramble on about things instead of the actual race. The other guy has probably never seen a ski race in his life, so I guess he gets the free pass, haha.
You have to admire Norway's teamwork here, too. One of them creates a pile-up to stop most of the competitors while the other goes on to finish the race.
;) For a while I thought you were talking about the MidgardEagle comment (I'm leading, trip myself and nearly teammate, good plan, right), thus a general comment about Americans knowing about skiing as much as, say soccer. It is true, that some of the top skiers in the states lament the fact that the level of skiing, and interest, yes it is obvious the commentators are clueless, is not like in Europe, that excitement, to hear the incredible roar of the crowds, that would be inspiring.
Så artig når kommentatoren sier Øystein Pettersen. "Oistin Petterson" HAHA!

That finish is the XC Skiing's version of a nose in horse racing.
