Actually it was 26 counties. Immediately the Anglo Irish Treaty was signed in December 1921, the 6 Ulster counties opted out and de Valera and his friends set about murdering any of their old comrades who objected.

Im from Co Waterford and i had a Great Uncle in the West waterford Brigade and we had our own two Famous ambushes The Pilltown ambush near Youghal and The Burgery ambush Near Dungarvan, but the Pilltown Ambush had a song Written about it and It uses the same Music as this song and its Lyrics are nearly the same.
