  • I was giving my dog's a raw diet but decided to go to dry bagged.I buy Taste Of The Wild as it has no meat by-products,grains,soy,corn,dyes,coloring and has a lot of healthy meat, veggies, fruits, probiotics and chelated minerals. They have done extremely good on it for the last 7 months.

  • @thewholedog

You sure they are not omnivores? My dog eats fruits and bread and other non-meat. If they where carnivores they wound not eat that, fact that my dog doesn't eat meat all the time, it proves they are not carnivores.

  • Dogs are omnivorous, at least my dog, he eats non-meat all the time, so who cars if they eat grains?

I agree with the colors, I have never understood why they are added to food, dogs can't even see colors too well and they don't care about colors.

FWY: doesn't matter if they use rotten meat, you can even make meat from human poop that humans can eat, as long as the protein is extracted and processed properly, it would be safe for animal or human consumption.

  • sodium wheat balls is what i like to call them! they're a headache just looking a them

  • the problem that i have with this video is that i wouldn't feed high protein to the average dog. I would rather feed low protein and high fiber

  • if they were truthful abou their ingrediants thy'd go bankrupt lol.

  • champion foods is a very safe bet if you want to give your pets. acana. orijen are good .sure they are sold a wee bit more expensive but the results are the proof that you are what you eat!!!!!

  • I personally don't like to eat diseased, dead or infected animals in my food.. And I bet our own pets don't want to eat it either... Just feed them natural foods... What did people feed their pets before the stupid pet food companies decided to make crap and sell as food?

  • @laurajdahl

"I personally don't like to eat diseased, dead or infected animals in my food"←When you eat meat, you are eating death animals. So why you say you don't like to eat death animals in your food, are you a vegan?

Did you know that you can extract meat (protein) from human poop? And eat it O.o it, you can get protein from many places, as long as it is separated from bacteria it would be safe from human consumption (or animal consumption) gross, but still safe :)

  • i feed my dogs science diet. and then they get two raw chicked wings, or necks . they seem fine . and one of my dogs is very old , and i havent had any health problems at all .

  • @planes100

    Science diet is crap..

  • Thanks for the great videos. I totally agree with you. I stopped buying kibbles and my dog has been eating fresh meaty bones and home cooked meals since he was 5 months old (he's almost a year old now and in great health). I wish all dog owners saw your videos.

  • Canidae EVO Merrick Taste of the wild Orijen Wellness Artemiis are all top brands, do not feed your dogs that junk in the chain pet stores or supermarkets.

It's like feeding a kid fastfood all the time...bad bad bad

  • If you wanna by sure - try natural dog food.

On the web and even here you will find a lot of reciepents.

  • I always thought dogs are scavengers, so eating something a human can't eat isn't so much of a problem.

my dogs would eat a lot of stuff - from the fruit falling off our trees(we're not sure if it's even edible), to rocks, to feces.

I doubt they're looking for quality, or things that are good for humans as well.

  • @aphididae

Dogs are not scavengers but (selective) omnivores - meaning that they can eat a range of foods. However here in our 2 acre yard foxes have killed and eaten 2 x fresh baby lambs - ate the better parts and left the rest.

Don't forget animals in the wild (natural) also get parasites and get sick and die early too? But what we are able to do by giving them high quality food is extend their lives; just the same as humans in poor countries often have shorter life expectancies.

  • @dogloverstoolbox Canned and bagged dog food is Garbage!! Dogs and cats should eat an all Raw diet of fresh meat and fruit and veggies!

  • Eagle Pack is pretty decent, their holistic line is a lot better than their regular line, though.

  • NO company-made dog "food" is good, absolutely NONE of it....dogs are carnivores, and should be fed a species appropriate food, like they would find in the wild...raw meat, bones and organs.....and that's it!!....I can feed my dogs for free as well, by asking my friends and neighbours for their freezerburned meat..it's still better for them, cos it's still real food!!!...no recall worries either, I know exactly what my dogs are eating....and as for making them wild?....ROFL!!...what a crock!!

  • @tartanrocker

If you read up you'll see that dogs are selective omnivores - means eating a range of food. Given the choice they rarely eat bones - but will happily eat the meat and organs as you've suggested.

They cannot survive forever on just meat though!

  • Thank you so much for revealing all this, I am a future dog owner in December and I need to know these things. Is "Royal Canin" a healthy food for Chihuahuas?

  • Royal Canin is a decent food but I recommend Innova more. It's my favorite kind of dog food and it doesn't have fillers.

  • @Kagomey101

We don't really recommend ANY canned or bagged food - too many mysteries as to ingredients. Go homemade - not hard and super quality.

  • My dog was on the raw diet he was fine not aggressive at all that's a stupid myth . What did wolves eat ? I would never feed my dog commercial crap it has a bad smell I would never eat the stuff why should me dog. When I buy my dog's canned food from my holistic shop I found , the canned food smells good and you can see peas and carrots and the meat looks better and my dog adores it and I do it because I adore him.

  • dogloverstoolbox there should be more good people like you thumbs up

  • Thanks for the +ve feedback. We really do love dogs - we have 5 of our own.

    Cheers

  • You forgot one very horrible brand. It's called 'Everpet', it and its ingredients are insanely cheap. My cousin bought her dog a huge bag of it because it was cheap and fed him on it for almost two months. He started to look bad halfway through the bag, his coat grew dull and his fur started falling out in patches. By the time she was done, it looked like she hadn't fed him in two months. (more)

  • And he's normally a 35lb+ dog, he was starting to look like one of those dogs the ASPCA seizes. She refused to believe it was the dog food that was making him sick, even though I wrote down the ingredients and pointed them out to her.

She seems to understand now and took him off of it. Now that he's on a new diet, as well as treats of raw and cooked meat and chicken hearts, he's slowly regaining his weight, and his fur. If you want, I can post a list of the horrible ingredients on my blog.

  • Hi Tora,

I have not heard that myth for a LONG time! People may think that since wild dogs eat raw food - the food that makes them that way?

There's no way that what a dog eats will make it aggressive. Proper training of a pup will ensure that the dog will trust and respect you and allow you to take away its food and return it, without complaint.

It's only the people that don't train their dogs that have the problems that you've mentioned.

    Cheers

    Steve

  • You are right, this kind of "dog food" is garbage, now i don't know if my dog food is garbage too (eukanuba), but i been searching many things about the nutrition of dogs and its totally different from what my pet is eating now. I road something obout the "BARF(bones and raw food)" and many people say its better and natural so i will have to check whit the vet.

  • Don't be too surprised if your Vet says commercial foods are OK, there are many vets that have not really looked closely at the actual quality of the content.

For example the words meat meal, chicken meal or meat by-products, don't sound too bad - but the stuff can be putrid!

  • Thanks for your opinion - I'm entitled to mine and my Youtube space.

I have a life and 5 healthy dogs too thanks!

By making my own food I'm able to feed FAR superior quality than any slop in a can or dried pellets - for a really great price!

Your point is what - you've been forcing your dog to eat this for years - so what are you saying - if you gave them super high quality food - they wouldn't eat it?
