  • I can't wait to visit. I'm thinking maybe I should do it spring break 2011.

  • this from the lakepoint tower?

  • creepy voice much?

  • usa0426... Ur a dumbass! Of course New York had more murders then Chicago for the year! There's more people, duh. And for ur info, no one uses the total number, it's all about how many murders there were per capita.

  • wtf!! whit your video???? get a life

  • wtf you commenting on his video, get a life

  • nice lol

  • That's one helluva view :-)

  • porque no te aventaste perro maldito

  • Why is it that when Mexicans comment on youtube they always leave negative comments?

  • @mobius1291 haha

  • what building r u on?

  • youtube has a spellcehck?

  • The Chicago Spire project is dead - a victim of the credit crisis and poor sales due to overpricing. Chicago can not support $2000/sq ft condos. Trump can't even sell his building out at half that. This thing was wishful thinking from the start.

There is a good reason why supertall buildings don't often get built in North America and Europe while they are sprouting like weeds in Asia and the middle east. There, virtual slave labor (Dubai pays skilled workers $8/day) makes them feasible.

  • ... If we could get away with paying the slave labor costs that developers in Asia and the middle east exploit, there would be supertalls in Des Moines.

  • NYC = Over Population, Too many hobos, #1 Terroist Traget, Pollution, Rude people, way too many crimes, and just a plain crap city like Detroit and Baltimore. Chicago = Friendly people, Beautiful Architecture(Millenium Park), Navy Pier, barely any pollution, way more trees, less crime, beautiful lake, large city, and finally the best downtown ever(The Loop). The only thing thats good about NY is the Statue of Liberty, and that underground tunnel? ;)

  • what do you know bout NYC...nothing. Doesn't Chicago have more pollution than NYC and even LA. From what I've read Chicago is also one of the worst cities in the USA for crime, pollution, traffic, hoemelessness, etc... Have you ever been to NYC?

  • crime rates are high in chitown n ny is one of the safest cities, i dont know bout pollution though, chicago has alleys where we keep the dumpsters for our trash i dont know what u do with urs in ny, the streets in ny seem like chicagos projects covered in trash everywhere, both cities have a shitload of homeless peeps n crackheads runnin around.

  • pollution? Chicago is pretty green now

  • ya what are u smokn chicago is the murder capital of the country n has always had higher murder rates then ny, n la for that matter, n waay more traffic becuase chicago has a much bigger statewide metro area, n dumb three n four lane e-ways n interstates when it should be 5 or six

  • Hey babyjaycc Chicago is and always will be the greatest city in the world, I bet you live in some stupid piece of crap city.

  • If its the greatest city then how come nobody ever hears about it ?

  • @neverwasapunk16 Unless you live under a rock, Chicago is known world wide. Greatest city? I don't agree either, but it's very popular and a beautiful place.

  • @McfattyBA then why don't many people talk about Chicago? I''m not hating on Chicago, but Chicago doesn't get as much attention as it does for New York, Miami, or L.A.

  • @Indestructible229 , why would have to go visit for yourself and see why ppl call it the best city in america.NYC and LA have most of the media and ppl from both of those cities hate Chicago, therefore they try to get it the least media attention, but u cant keep 10 million ppl from talking,Chicago isnt a small city

  • @Rikan77trey Ditto. Chicago's not a small city. Population, it's very close to L.A. and once had more people than L.A. until the 1980 census confirmed that L.A. ended up surpassing Chicago population. Before that it was NYC first and Chicago 2nd. I know L.A. natives that hate L.A. but love Chicago.

  • @Indestructible229 Different reasons pr city. Chicago is and will always be on the popular list. But Miami is a tour place that was built up by the drug cartels like the mafia made Vegas. NYC is a fashion meca, corporate city. L.A. is the entertainment capitol of the country. Each city has a rich history. As bad as Detroit is, it still has a rich history (auto and Motown music) that keeps it talked about.

  • @killerbeau95 GO FUCK YOUR SELF ! NYC IS MY HOME

  • Damn, when I went up there, i accidentally fell off. I sprained my ankle.

  • dude u must have big ballss to go up der

  • That'd be scary to be up there.

  • lake point tower, right?

  • scary

  • this building's going to be amazing

  • when it comes to pathetic, you're always on top.

  • Chicago has some of the most interesting architecture in the world. What do you know about it? You probably only even spelled architecture correctly because of youtube's spell check.

  • Is that Park View or River East Tower?

  • S.W. lobe of the roof of Lakepoint Tower

  • you win the "most ignorant post of the year" award.

  • and who designed the burj dubai???

    americans!!

burj dubai looks like a pile of trash cans stacked on each other!!! :P

  • giant penis

    lol

thats what u probably like 2 think about

    dont u?

  • actually the burj isnt being built by americans. its being built by asian slaves who are being ferried into dubai and being paid pettance

  • well at least it was designed by americans, som

  • cool view from up there.

Btw check out my channel for lots of construction vids of the Spire and other projects in Chicagoland

  • cool view from up there.

Btw check out my channel for lots of construction vids of the Spire and other projects in Chicagoland

  • Is that lakepoint tower?

  • thats awesome they're gonna be building some new ultra tall buildings in chicago, hope they build more like that in new york, other than the new wtc

  • The new freedom tower is going to be 108 stories. This BS of super tall building just to be the tallest is just that Bullshit. I live in Chicago and the Sears Hancock and even Prudential 2 are great. Some of the BEST buildings are those that are not even 70 stories. This new spire looks like a piece of shit stuck up in the skyline.

  • I kinda hear you on that, the new WTC looks pretty beat and even tho they're gonna build those in Chicago, there's not much goin on in the architecture dept.

  • new york will get back in the game eventually, just waiting for the competition to quiet down, you know how new york is..... always surprising us......

  • I hope you're right, NYC better get itself into gear if it wants to stay where it's at.

  • Chicago and NYC aren't competing for skyscrapers. Chicago is a skyscraper city, New York is a DENSITY and CULTURE city. It's different.

  • density how? people yes and skyscrapers yes. NYC has more skyscrapers and highrises than Chicago and thats a fact, thats why NYC is known as the "skyscraper city."

  • No question NYC is THE original skyscraper city. When people in other cities complain of too many tall buildings being built, they label it "Manhattanization", not "Loopization".

Lately, however, NYC has been lagging behind in building supertalls. There is a plateau of 700-800 footers rising in Midtown. The U.S. in general is not keeping up with the rest of the world when it comes to tall and innovative skyscrapers. Look at what Dubai and China are doing.

  • Absolutely, all the new and impressive supertall are going elsewhere rather than chicago or nyc unfortunately. it seems the problem with american cities like these two is people are tired of them and zoning. companies move outta the states so they can build "unrestricted" if you will.

  • Of course, the original skyscraper city title claim is biased from the people living in both cities. So far Chicago has more supertalls > 1,000 footers / bldgs over 100+ stories while NY has more skyscrapers with lesser height. Chicago's "downtown" is larger than Manhattan's "downtown" (ie. Walstreet) area. Only "midtown" is larger than Chicago's "downtown". Technically, Chicago has the largest "downtown" while NY has the largest "midtown", "uptown" etc. Chicago doesn't have a "midtown".

  • nyc has been laggin because it doesn't have to prove a point anymore. its in the league of cities like paris, rome and london. cities that are cool for what they are now.

  • No doubt that NYC is probably a nice city, but its over rated!!!

It's always on TV, always in movies, i mean people who probably live in California, never been to NYC but they seen every part of the city cuz it's everywhere!!! You want to go to a city that you hardly dont know about, so you can have something to look and discover yourself

  • You may be right about NYC being everywhere, but there is a reason for that! It's not over rated I can tell you...people may not like it which is fine but this city has everything and thats an actual fact. I will say that Chicago probly has very much to offer tho. Literally anything you want is within walking distance in NYC.

  • i was curious about ur comment, what do you mean?

  • how did u get up there?

  • how did he get up there?that was a stupid question hes obviously one of the contractors building the building.

  • ugh.. i dont think i can wait 5 years to completly c all the skyscrapers finished

  • Dude, you could have EASILY been blown right off of there!!

  • its so high!! ....

  • You can also see the huge gap where Waldorf Astoria will hopefully be builT!!

  • AMAZING VIEW!

  • Whoaaa! I'd really like to live in this tower, just took a look at sales pricings for flats here! Unfortunatly as I live in France I'd need to win the lotery to get there! But as one's say who knows! Did you pay the warden or the window cleaners to get here?
