Awesome. I never though of Regice that way... I really liked the Apricot Berry + Rest. After all the work you had to bring him down to red you would have to do it again with a Sp.Def boost? I would have given up as well, I wouldn't have wasted my time and I think it's something other people have to respect.
Yeah, you have a good point there. BTW, I enjoyed watching your battles, not only this one. Keep uploading them please. You've got really original teams xD
I think it's a values dissonance. You have a lot of people who don't give up, no matter what. It's valid if you haven't been cornered. This was turning into an endurance match with me on the losing side, and no way to turn it back around.
I think a lot of viewers of this match don't understand what's happened with Regice or what Regice is capable of, or think it's more shameful to surrender than to die. As the saying goes, they don't know when to fold 'em.
i think the problem was that your only physical attacker was taken out fairly quickly, so your two special attackers were left locked in a stall war with regice. i see why u gave up, my uxie got into a stall war with a wobbufet. i couldn't switch out, i couldn't do enought damage, i felt like throwing my ds (cos it was on platinum) out the window.
I can't belive you gave up!!!!!!!! You know I would use my Spinda to use Dizzy Punch!!! and then make Regiice go away!! or use my Macgargo and use Lava Plume!!! gee I could beat that easy peasy lemon squeazy! Im getting game today!
@Overhazard understand, u can try win at the end, a good trainer still trying, i fight with a lot of rest move pokemons, and i win, if you not believe on me i have a video who shows it, only see i can defeat a victreebel with a tried exeguttor, i understand why is hard and long but u no lose nothing with trying, no give up and minus get frustrated when the things looks bad and lose, i do it and my healt gets bad.
@Overhazard well, u can still using protect and i learned when anyone is sleping have a big disadventage because delays the use of "struggle". using torment delays the use of rest and any attack, bad thing, the delay of rest causes he can uses in the longer of battle....well really in agreement in the chess game, surrendering is singal of respect but u maybe can win with a bit of lucky, i understand now why is imposible win that battle but i confront the same problem and...i win.
I'd rather Regice use Struggle first, since it'll be losing more HP than it'll do to Grumpig. Struggle is designed to give the advantage to whoever uses Struggle last. In addition, Regice can heal whereas Grumpug can't, so it's exceedingly unlikely Grumpig could survive all the Ice Beams and Hammer Arms Regice has. This was a losing battle.
@Overhazard well really i think u grumpig can snatch the "rest" effects but u are right, the past is the past, better luck the next time with this trainer. "u need a gallade"
What kind of argument is that? Try saying that at a poker match or a Go tournament. You'll be tarred and feathered.
In Japan, it's considered a greater shame to fight a hopeless battle than to surrender. Knowing when to throw in the towel is the greatest honor for a disadvantaged competitor or combatant.
It's spelled "poker," and tell me how folding is any different than surrendering. The ability to sense a hopeless situation and giving up is, in fact, called "knowing when to fold" and carries a positive connotation.
Also, you should disprove my points rather than launching argumenta ad hominem at me. Doing so means you've run out of things to attack my points with.
Dude. Not giving up can be seen as "strong-willed", sure, but that's not always a good thing. For example, no matter how hard you try to breathe underwater without SCUBA gear, your body will eventually give up for you.
Some situations are entirely one-sided, and conceding (giving up) is seen as a respectful thing to do, rather than waste everybody's time.
I have a Cradily, the moves are: "Recover/Toxic/Barrier/Amnesia". He has no attack moves.
If he ever comes up against a Poison/Steel type, there's nothing I can do with him. Let me ask you, would you suggest I stay there and spend all my moves (which have no effect against a Steel Pokemon) and finally lose after using struggle four times? That would take a good 20-30 minutes - time that needn't be given up if... I were to give up. It's the respectful thing to do.
One other thing that should be given up is your angry demeanor. Seriously dude, no one can take you seriously.
Eh, besides all the "idiots" you throw around, I see you still insist on calling poker, "ponker". It seems you may be a troll, or, rather, an obstinate, angry little boy.
Whatever the case, I don't think Overhazard is worth your time - whether you're looking for anger, or consensus, I don't think you'll be finding it here.
Hammer Arm is a Fighting-type attack. This attack is not really effective on Psychic Pokemon. So why does the opponent sometimes uses an non-effective attack? Can't it just use any other moves or attacks Regice has learnt?
About Grumpig's ability called Thick Fat, Ice and Fire attacks only deal 50% damage. This ability works well if Grumpig is battling an Ice or Fire type Pokemon!
Dude, that was a rough match. If only that Grumpig had the Hidden Power of fighting, you could've won, but man, did this Regice need to get fixed! I'd get rid of Hammer Arm and Curse for Thunderbolt and Calm Mind. I'm kind of suprised of its held berry...
aww nice tri newayzz, i use a regice n mine knowz thunderbolt ice beam thunderwave n amnesia but i want to take that away for sumthin else, ne suggestions?
Even against an Uber and a legendary you fought well with your UU team. I noticed you like to use Protect a lot, I personally would have another attack on Grumpig, he has access to a few decent ones, but thats just me
The idea here is to completely shut down the opponent's best move. Torment allows me to use Protect any time they use whatever can land a big hit on Grumpig. (When I can nab another Leftovers, I'll put it on Grumpig.)
I like how he froze you, and you stayed frozen for several turns (and who knows how long it would have lasted), but yet thunderbolt never paralyzed him and psychic never lowered his sp.def.
Because of Regice's Clear Body ability, Psychic would not have lowered Sp. Defense.
Paralyzing it would have done little good in the long run, since this Regice has two attacks that lower its own Speed anyway and one Rest would have removed the debilitating effects of occasionally losing a turn.
GG to bad you got the freeze hax, but it happens, I enjoy your Pokemon battles, hope to see more soon

I always think about the opponent whenever I play a game of any sort. I think this "fighting to the very end" ideal is quite self-centered.

Dusk252 2 years ago
Why the hell is everyone giving you shit about giving up the fight?
You were barely doing anything to Regice with Grumpigs psychic. And that berry/Rest combo he did, definetly would not have made this match any easier.
You made the smart desicion to give up, rather than drag out your loss, and that should be respected.
It was a fun match. :D

thunder isnt the best move for regice and neither is focus blast, if i were u id have hail ,blizard amnesia and rest with chesto berry, or
have hail blizard amnesia and protect and have leftovers, but thats for denfensive regice and best against sp attack users,
if u have offensive regice then i suggests, charge beam, rest, ice beam/icy wind and hyper beam/ancient power with chesto berry
cant be bothered to explain strategy of each but it is probably obvious
