  • @sweetrob..........Well, no one could have said it better than YOU..............

THE GREAT DAVID RUFFIN ...............NEVER BEFORE OR NEVER AGAIN HAS THE WORLD KNOWN MORE OF A SOUL FILLED VOICE THAN RUFFIN !l

  • What would be special and hard for another singer to do is just David Ruffin being David Ruffin. He's not one of the great but "IS" the greatest singer of all time.He is truly missed.

  • I miss the Temptations, they touched my soul growing up.gt

  • Happy Birthday Melvin!!!! best bass ever.

  • I was a kid, this is the first time I heard this song and I thought I heard everything. I love the old music much better than they new school music because you can feel the love in the heart . In new school love has nothing to do with it.

  • This Group and Motown was all that got me thru the worst time in our musical history. That time was the lame ass Beatles and the rest of those British bugs that ruined America's music. Thank you for this post. Although many of us have this music in our collections, these posts allow younger people who weren't exposed to these sounds to hear what real music was actually like when a voice and a good song and the ability to sing was required to be successful. Thank you again for this great song.

  • I love this song ! It's goes good right after " You're My Everything ". Temps 4-EVA

  • Brilliant post,thankyou!

  • David sounds better because David is better, in fact, he was the best of all The Tempts lead singers, not to take anything away from the others, but watch the vids of David performing, he was made to be the lead singer of the greatest group of all time

  • David sounds better than his brother, Sing D.R. You was the very best!!!!!!!!

  • An absolute classic track,I bet most Motown artistes would do a great job of this song

    Motown forever

  • I Truely agree!

  • I guess now that all the orig temps passed on Otis Williams own the name and calls the shots.

  • What a voice, what a voice!

  • this song is a rare classic,mr.ruffin voice has 2b the sweetest in history

  • Yes, David..You sure did pass this way!! And fans thank God you did!!!

  • I am glad i was growing up in the era of the Temps.I cant say there was a song i did not like.

  • Listen to his brother, Jimmy Ruffin sing this song.... to me it's a better take...still love you David!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MegaSusan55 I was pleasantly surprised to learn Jimmy is still living. I watched him on "Later with Jools Holland" on Ovation TV, and at 71, he still sounds great, and looks pretty good, too!!!

  • I love that photo. The microphone stand was talked about on KATZ radio station in St. Louis almost every day. That was a big deal back then and was considered cutting edge and innovative. What a wonderful group of talented men.

  • The Temps oozed hits. I've lost count, but I'm not complaining!

  • They could do no wrong in their day!

  • another classic song from the temps. once again david on lead vocals.

  • All the groups who came after the TEMPTATIONS ,are good but none can hold a candle to all the original Temps. The bass, baritone, tenors and of course Eddie Kendrick's falsetto were awesome. The will only be one special male R&B group. THE TEMPTING TEMPTATIONS!

  • no disrespect to david and the temps...but david's brother jimmy OWNS this tracks

  • wow my ears have been refreshed after hearing this marvelous music something our ears seem to lack in the 21th century

  • Good cover of Jimmy Ruffin's hit.

  • I can never love another after loving the Original Temptations

  • Those of us who love you, are GRATEFUL that you did "Pass This Way".David was a once in a lifetime legend!!

  • another one of my temps fav songs.too bad most of them are gone,i think the only one laft is mr elgin who was the glue that kept them together.i hope he is alive and in good health.thank you mr elgin for all the great music you gave us,i know my world would have had a gap in it with out there songs, peace desiree

  • @Desiree50 Actually the name is Mr. Otis Williams. The name elgin as their name before they were The Temptations, they were The Elgins

  • @Temptations41 thank you for the correction.i still love them and mr williams started it all.the lord will reward him

  • David sings this song with so much raw emotion. It gives me chills listening to him. There will never be another David Ruffin!!

  • Ruffin just is and was The Man - no-one can sing like him - superbe!

  • I have loved this song sing I was little its so amazing w/ ruffins voice

  • @MrGirl999 Ruffin's voice had that edge on it, it was so throaty and raw. He made you feel the emotion of the song. David could bring the song home and find it a place to live in your heart.

  • Please rate and share this video, spread the love. Please also key in avetrey and see a young brother paying tribute to these legends here on youtube.

I love all the reindictions but i recommend avetrey singing wish it would rain, morning sun, and his own song denial. Please leave comments and rate.

  • love is a beautiful thing and how good and wonderful it is when brothers dwell together in peace and unity....

  • So True... and spoken just like an individual with a brain and a heart should say it. I truly feel your passion. We seem to fight harder among ourselves then we fight anyone anywhere in the world. We think more about self preservation than the greater good of us all. Unless we began to love and appreciate the greatness in ourselves along with showing some solidarity based on respect, we will never reap the benefits of our gifts. How many of you are out there fighting for health care for us all?

  • God know how MUCH I LOVE DAVID

    RUFFIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He could DELIVER

and SELL a song, his heart was in it..

  • some great lead singers and I include Mr Ruffin don't have the same success when they leave that group, there are exceptions, like Marvin, Curtis, Smokey,Teddy, luther, remember he was in the group Change, all these dudes had oustanding solo careers, their groups never was the same after they left, after David left the tempts had seven more #1 hits.

  • Agree with you. Sometimes egos and unfair mangement with record companies in tandem with emerging egos can be very destructive to the newly solo artist. The ones you mentioned did well and I'm proud of them, love every one of them,

  • my favorite group of all times.these guys are so talented, there will never be a group like this again.thank you so very much

  • i just noticed that alot of these songs are very short mostly under 3min

  • pimp song

  • There will never be another to pass this way before or after to compare with "The Master"..One in a billion...

  • amazin tune

  • David Ruffin worked his ass off for the Temptations and Motown.

  • Truly he did. However, drugs were working just as hard on him. There will never be another David Ruffin. I pray that his pain is finally rested.

  • Yes he did terrycherrybrown, unfortunately after that movie he got alot of bad press, made him out to be a monster. A monster couldn't possibly sing with the passion that this man had. He gave us all he had, till there was no more to give . No one ever had before him,and no one ever will after him, allow us into his soul like Ruff did. Keep in mind, that movie was O's story and who was left to dispute it? Rest well King David

  • I agree with you, and Jimmy Ruffins rendition has got to be THE BEST....

  • otis, melvin, eddie, david and paul many came and went but NONE absolutly none come close to these FABULOUS FIVE! music and harmony is gone with these five men HOW I MISS the temptations, good thing thier music lives on!

  • the best lineup by far was the STARTING FIVE.... David, Paul, Eddie, Melvin and Otis

  • Fascinating alternate take on the Jimmy Ruffin classic, who else could do it but his little brother the late David Ruffin, may he rest in peace.

  • Damn! Both versions are good but this has more snap.

  • Had not heard this version by David - the voice - absolutely marvellous - he lives on in his music, no-one like him. Beautiful!

Love all the Temps but David is the man!

  • a hurt that took so long to end , has found my poor heart again....no matter how strong a man is without love he walks in the dark. If love deserts him it will surely hurt him, Cause his weakness is his heart."

i love this song this is what its all about what happen to the music??? im 20 and dont even listen to the radio im an old soul baby .. long live the TEMPS!!

  • "I've passed this way before, I've felt this pain before a hurt that took so long to end , has found my poor heart again."

    WOW

  • Another great song by MR. DAVID RUFFIN!! I not crazy about the way David was portrayed in the Temptation movie. I do believe it had a reverse effect and made people want to find out more about him and his music.

  • I can attest to that!

  • This song was a good choice for the Ruffin tribute. This is the quintessential Ruffin lead. What really made him great is on display here. The anguish and emotion he brought to the song is really impressive.

  • You are so right this is vintage David Ruffin at his best.

  • Wish it Would Rain was one of the best albums the Temps ever recorded. Mr. Ruffin brought it,can u dig it? Regrettably, this was to be his last recording with the original group.

  • David Ruffin,,,that rough edged voice is just fantastic!!

  • To anybody who will disagree DAVID RUFFIN was the main man I don't care the man had some issues but wow could he bring it ! ! !

  • why we do things we do is a mystery, but we still responsible for our actions

  • david's voice is bleeding all over the mic so full of pain, no one could put hurt in a song better than ''D'' HE IS STILL THE BEST

  • I guest Mr. Penzabene was really a hurting

man,he wrote this song, along with I wish it would rain, and before he could collect his royalties for the hit song I wish it would rain,he committed suicide, becuase he wife was cheating on him,and finally left him,and he just refused to let her go. what a tragedy.

  • Oh yeh the other melancholy song mr.Penzabene wrote was,I could never love another after loving you.

  • Roger Penzabene also wrote I Could Never Love Another(after loving you). Sad end to such a talented writer, he wrote Your'e My Everything, the song where David and Eddie trade lead vocals between them. However,he did not write this song.

  • This sounds like a Penzabene song, but your right. This was written by James Dean and William Weatherspoon who also wrote "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted". They were also pretty good writers, obviously.

  • all i can say is...i wish i was born 20 years earlier so i could experience this wonderfulness first hand - temptations forever - david ruffin...what a tremendous voice and talent

  • OH MY GOD.

  • This is GREATNESS!

  • David's ability to convey emotion in song was remarkable. Soul music at its best.

  • What a great song...David's voice is such a precious gift.............

  • david ruffin is #1 and sorry is a sorry word is the best temp song ever made

  • good lord they just dont make music like this anymore. wish i could go back in time to 1965, knowing what i know now..........

  • I didn't know that the temptations did this song. It's good but I prefer Jimmy Ruffin's version.

  • Only knew Jimmy Ruffins version of this song. But this by his brother David and the Temps is far superior. A Temps fan for thirty-five-years l only recently discovered this on YouTube, never heard it before. Many thanks for posting this dalkey130388.

  • Hey Sandy, I picked up the cd w/this and some other oldies, even My Girl was on it, right before this song check out #8, it's a song that Eddie does that I can't recall hearing b4 either. It's called, First Love Of Your Life, truly a Master Piece too. I think this cd was just put together a few years ago. I bet you would enjoy it. I found it at Circut City a couple years back.

  • Many thanks for the tip 3girlzz, l'll certainly look out 4it.

  • One of David's best live performances is "Statue Of A Fool". I think you'll like this video from the late 80's.

  • I do like David's post temps career, esp a song called The Forgotten Man, quality!

  • @dalkey130388 I think he is the last original one still traveling with the Temps, do you know? I am talking about the one with the Deep voice. Saw them in 67 in SF live.

  • @blinko7777 The only original Temptation from the "Classic Five" is Otis Williams. The deep voice was Melvin Franklin who has departed this earth sometime ago.

  • @babytaylorm i love that song too, but if its the vid i think you're talkin about, it's alil disappointing. Believe me, no one is a bigger fan of Ruff than me ;^)

  • I love this song, David sounds great.

    SO NICE!!!!

  • Thanks Pamela!

  • I have listened to this song and the more i listen to it the more it gives my life meaning. I have so much respect for the Temptions.

  • It just don't get any better than this ! Brings me out in goosebumps every time I hear it. 10 out of 10. Keep On Keepin'n On ! Gaz..

  • Yeah I get goosebumps when Melvin's intro kicks in!

  • @dalkey130388 YOU THE MAN! I love them all but it is Melvin that gives me the goosebumps. He is great on this one as well as "O'le Man River", "I Truley Truley do Believe" etc.

  • In life we exist, but such music honestly makesus live. I genuinely feel this music and it has meaning to my life. Thank you to the Temps and thank you dalkey130388 for posting.

  • A beautiful, beautiful comment zimstyle. It's a sentiment that I also feel, this music truly is life enrichening. Thanks for listening and commenting zimstyle.

  • My fav song from the Temps!! Simply brilliant!! I remember the good old times in Harare, when life was simply, straight-forward and this music is food tothe soul!!

  • Glad you like it - Jimmy Ruffin's version is quality as well. And you're right this music really is food for the soul. thanks for your comment zimstyle.
