hey im new as well and nice job so far. But i found out if you put a piece of air tubing in the overflow downpipe, move it around a little, and it will eliminate the noise of the rushing water. Worked for me.

The standpipe in the overflow really works fantastic for the "flushing" noise. Also you can paint the the part of the overflow that goes in the tank black with krylon fusion and let it cure for a couple of days and you won't see the algae growing in it. I have used krylon fusion to paint all kinds of stuff that go in the tank with no problems just let it cure for a few days. If that is an all glass brand you can order new plastic frames for the aquarium.
I am looking forward to your videos. keep them coming and good luck!!! I am putting togetehr a 155 live reef right now with the plumbing in the basement as well.
oh man. I am in dire need of some help as I wanted to do some plumping that leads down to the basement as well from my living room. Will be excited to see some more updates! Please post a video about the "plumping" part!

For your sump you could just silicone a piece of glass in to replace the plastic brace.
You can use GE Silicone I from a a hardware store. Much cheaper than the aquarium stuff. They are basically the same.
