@trailingdot You're right, but the percentage of people that block JS is extremely small. Only 18% use IE as well. I'm starting to believe we shouldn't continue to mess up our sites because of less than 20% of potential users. This 20% has been shown to not trust online transactions at all from anyone who is not a major retailer as well. They also never go to small sites and blogs
In the beginning, it sounded like you were saying the doctype declaration was not compatible in prior versions of IE. To set the record straight, the the shorthand doctype declaration works in IE6+, whereas the HTML5 elements (like canvas, section, and article) only work in IE9+.
@supprof1 IE at one point was the browser of choice just 2 1/2 years ago. They think if they add features that only work on IE that people will gravitate back towards using it. The world has changed towards an open source, low / no cost, increasingly mobile format. Microsoft is still following the old business strategy and will continue to decline until they change. Google and Apple will continue to dominate until Microsoft either changes or goes bankrupt
and quite frankly i was scared to use it. than i didn't.
but i thaught the solution was how to create a code in html5 and css3 witch can be overwritten by another code of xhtml and css if the browser can't recognise the html5 and css3
but that will be another awekward solution.
the simplest solution is to figure out the pourcentage and the category of people using the modern broser if they are minority people using the modern browser. you shouldn't thanks
@supprof1 I have the number you're looking for. As of August 2011, 18% of users online are using versions of Internet Explorer previous to version 9. I wish everyone would get together and just ban users using IE. That would make all our lives much easier. In the last 2 years IE has lost over 50% of its user base.
@derekbanas I left IE a long time ago. I'm not anti microsoft, but there are much better open source options out there. I use Firefox primarily, and Chrome when I'm in a hurry, lol.
That's a great tutorial - thanx Derek. One point though regarding 3D libraries - there's one called WebGL (but you probably ment native ones). Just a thought.
thanx for the vid, it is complicated for me but i keep trying... I have a question I would like to ask you, what software do you use to edit your videos?
I'm thinking that blocking js would make modernizr not work. I will have to test that.

thank you for the anser
i am thinking why microsoft made his browser so complicated like a dark box witch we can't know how it works or expect how it behaves
i mean microsoft had all the tools to make it simple.
but why they did'nt want to make easy to us earlier?!!!
is it because the IE technologie can help the other computer compagny to create their own operating system
because xp, vista and win 7 are made in the same way than IE i guess!!?
what do you think derek?

@derekbanas Yeah pretty much how I feel about it. I think a closer line in the sand need to be drawn for people using obsolete software.
