  • whats the track name?

  • is it able to put an thing that conects 2 axles to each other to put that in all the 3 axles so u can also make it whit 3 axles the middle axle :D (i hope u understand..)

  • @searme what size is the middle shaft?....would it be possible to splice two axles? (for the middle piece, i have made the rest of it... i cant find a shaft long enough)

  • @zach98ism It's 16 studs long. It would be difficult to split into two axles without making the gearbox much longer.

  • @zach98ism it's realy easy to split it. and it only gets one stud longer...

  • do you have get this pieces?

  • the music is from counter strike or ? (zombie mod) XD

  • @Redskull1312 i think its the old red alert theme

  • gear 1000 and put a saw blade on it! =D

    deadly weapon! lol

  • @My360pro If you ever could have a lego motor which delivers that much torque.

  • Nice :D

  • that is an ambitious 5th ratio

  • Shame about the moronic musak. Cut that.

  • @harrynking777 I think I'll cut moronic komments first.

  • @searme Manson! Resident Evil! What's not to love about the music?!

  • i love your vids mainly because of the music but what stuff you do is one of a kind i aplaud you :) please keep making your imagianiative vids

  • great job man! love your work!

  • did just about the same thing, but mine got driven by a turbine and just got two gears forward and one gear backwards!

  • You need a neutral gear to switch between gears, and to coast.

  • Nice

  • you could use the nxt brick thingy and some servos and build this into a working car, now that would be kickass and nerdy at the same time :D

  • What is the music name?

  • Maybe you should look at build a stong enough one to work with the replica engines on here. bearing in mind some rev up to 4000rpm

  • Whats the name of this song and by what band?

  • simply but clever...

  • Great work man! is it ok i build it to? this is just Amazing!

  • @Freerider456789 Sure, I've shown it so that you can build it too.

  • OMFG, finally something i ahve to parts to make :)

Time to take apart my lego outrigger for motor xD

  • what about reverse gear ;)

  • @Magmamus reverse motor polarity

  • @Kirby00216 Of course. :P Didn't think :D *Brainfart*

  • very nice

  • saai

  • Where do you get an axle that's 16 studs long?I have just made your transmission and it won't work without an axle like that.

  • @cuso1100 Yes it can use two 12 axles and a double length piece in between 20 tooth and 24 tooth

  • little to much time on ur hands lol

  • i would like to make that one :3 thx for the vid!

  • u need a reverse gear

  • For those asking about the song. it's:

"Seizure of Power" by Marilyn Manson.

    otherwise, nice job!

  • Thx, only getting into lego again after a long time away ... this has helped a tonne.

  • not bad; linear gearbox's (especially built out of lego) aren't very practical though, because of the precarious-ness of where the moving axle needs to be; it is hard to control it precisely and prevent the transmission from disengaging itself - or freezing because it is two gears at once. the clutch pieces along with the 16-tooth slip gears (or differential) work much better to build a gearbox around - they take up less space, too.

  • @sicklegologo0000 Oh come on, this is a fairly simple mechanism.

  • @searme not to take away from you, but youre right. it looks, and judging by your ratios provided, that you just transposed the same drive shaft backwards onto the other side. when you "shift" gears, are you just grinding them until they seam together?

  • @searme but its still good work

  • @searme simple yet awesome

  • @sicklegologo0000

Stupid People helping stupid people, da da da.

  • @ubuntupokemoninc no no u didnt understand, i am a big fan of searme and i was just asking what his IQ was in a good way.

  • @ubuntupokemoninc he/she was just asking what his IQ was bitch and i think yours is 10

  • now intergrate it with a lego car

  • whats the song

  • time to put it in a RC!!

    xD

  • Nice!

  • Any grinding?....but that...Is...SO...COOL! lol I wish I could make something like this!

  • dude, that is amazing, just add a differential to the back of it and youll have a car

  • you are so cool

  • what is the song in this video?

  • Wow I can pass my engineering exam now. Thanks!

  • can you make tut plz

  • Go dual overdrive!

  • how long is that shaft going through the middle? (in lego units)

  • @offspringfanman96 16 studs.

  • @searme wow i didnt know they made them that long, i only have 10 and below.

  • whats the song

  • did you make that from scratch, or did you buy it with instructions?

  • @JoaoMario24 Of course I made it from a scratch.

  • @searme i jsut wish i was as creative as you are.

  • Excellent! Good job

  • Lego is totally hardcore =D

    And that was awesome

  • Very nice and simple.

    BTW, what song is that?

  • Awesome! Do you have to choose such inappropriate music for it though? I mean it's lego dude. Seriously? It's hardly hard-core.

  • @jeh506 My apologies. I'll go for Justin Bieber next time.

  • @searme He just doesn't understand that it's not Legos it's gears...hard core engineered gears

  • @searme lmao

  • @searme

sry bad what music you used? i like it)) Can you tell me the name of the song?

  • youtube.com /watch?v=ycY1nutbKfc

its a version of your gearbox

if you can see it doesnt have the problem of 16 studs long axles

  • Easy and fun! xD

  • what is the name of the song?

  • What is the name of the song?

  • nice work

    had to mute thou'

  • would be cool if you made a clutch for it

  • GOOD!

  • I made this 5 spd and it works great! Im installing it in an offroad buggy im workin' on here in Canada. I built it just from this vid. Please keep these great ideas coming!

  • epic do you mind it i use this in one of my vid that im gonna make very soon?

  • @booneman625 Not at all, feel free.

  • im going to use this in my lego automatic transmission with a flywheel, buildt from aviatorBJP's instruction

  • Awsome!~~

  • wow awesome xD

makes me want to build a gearbox in garry's mod (a physics game made from hl2)

  • it#s god but you can't put it in a car cause the two axles will bend to the outside and then there is no contact :C

that sucks and i don't who to fix this :C

  • I've made this gearbox too. IT WORKS VERY WELL!!!! Thanks!

  • thx now I saw the inside of the gearbox

that was where i was looking for

  • dang i need one of those long white axels. the funny thing is i thinkk i remember seing one befor but i cant find one

  • i think you can also use th 32 axles, well aim pretty suer you can use them

  • lol ya but b4 i only had 12 axels i actualy bot some 16 ones incase i ever needed them

  • @Madmonkeythegreat where did u buy the axles.

  • @2311blobman I got them at a site called bricklink. if your ever buying anything else there add that to your list because though you wont use them alot its frustrating when you need one but dont have one

  • song????

  • Marilyn Manson Seizure Of Power

  • i'm going to build a linear 5 sp transmission and have it shifted by bluetooth using a NXT.... i will use this design, it is by far the most practical, and smallest gearbox with 5 speeds that i can build...

my car will have the works, FWD, proportional steering, 5speed sport transmission, and proportional gas pedal

  • very interesting

  • where you get this long white axel???

with a 12er axel it doesn't work and i have no longers :C:C:C

  • its on set 8674

  • i build you gearbox on my 4 cylinder inline dieel maschine and it works great!!

i make a vid and post it to you!

  • ........do you have the axle at all O______o

well well, isnt that crazy?, aim building an RC manual. automatic car that has a gear box like this,....but its different :D

  • @SuperK0rn ebay.

  • i can only make a 3 speed

  • LOLOLOLOL thats awesome! im in robotics and we use mindstorm kits, wonder how much extra credit ill get if i make one of these and slap it on my car xD

  • this is quite simple and so genial...

    amazing

  • very nice.

  • Interesting, are you going to be a engineer someday?

  • @DYLAN102001 I don't think so, I hate maths :)

  • maths is life

  • @searme well said.....

  • where did u get the 16 stud axle? please let me know, that would be awesome

  • from #8674

  • INSTRUCTIONS! please.......

  • On my website.

  • Nice

  • waths the name if the song ?

  • this wat i call tight!

  • it's a shame there's not much anybody can do about the lack of clutch, but then again, the purpose is to have fun, not design a lego car you can drive to work in :P

  • Whats the music?

  • haha, thats awesome as mate, well done.

  • wow tats neat

  • Wow! That´s amazing! I wish i had that much Lego to build that... =)

  • the white axle helps get the 5 gears in eh? it is possible to shrink this by half. place your gears in two banks: 1st 3rd 5th on one side 2un 4th on the other side. have the pickups on top and the sliding gear can be one of those dark grey slipping gears placed in the middle.

  • Now you need some synchros and a clutch. Neat.

  • whats the song

  • thats amazing

  • song? plz reply

  • have you got any diagram for do it? interesting video

  • Yes, I have one at my website.

  • whtats the song? Nice inforitive video

  • good work, you should keep the working sound of the system.

  • very nice man. cool mech. awesome vid. i dont even need instructions XD. i can see it all in the vid. ty.

  • small and simple. I like it

  • i made a (LEGO) four-speed manual transmission gearbox plz check it out and tell me what you think of it :D

i dont have a motor yet but i will get one soon

  • how did u measure the ratios or did u just make a rough estimate

  • By counting the number of teeth on respective gears.

  • o k thnx

  • What you can do is if you can get another motor to move the shifter then you could change gears remotely

  • And how would you make the motor stop at the desired gear, and not inbetween?

  • @searme

sorry this response took so long i have been very busy. what you can have is like a mindstormer or something that can move in clicks. or you can use a very geared down motor so you can slowly shift gears. either way cool design.

  • this is very good video . i want the complete video of tata and leyland gear box repairing and making of them.

  • i finally made 5 speed with reverse but i dont have any camera

  • ohh c'mon dude... ok, im watching all of your vids and, frankly, the ones ive seen that are worth commenting on, are just... idk man. i mean, i can get a 5 speed, sequential, automatic gearbox with lets say ehmmm... 7 drive gears (the ones that define the ratios.), a differential, two of the selector sliders and their respective gears to connect it in a double shift setup... etc. the point is that the DRIVE system would be 7 gears in a 6 by 4.5 stud setup. ill teach you how

  • you could probably connect this to your linear clutch, and then you have a transmission to put on your power functions car.

  • i wish i had legos like that wen i was a kid ='[

  • can you set up some insructions so i could put in in one of my vehicles

  • I did, check on my website.

  • is there any gear reduction from the motor to the shaft in the back because its not direct drive?

  • Yes, the motor is reduced 3 times before the gearbox.

  • thanks searme. your 5 speed has inspired me to build a tranny, but i unfortunately didn't have enough 16 tooth gears. so i improvised a solution, and now i'm only one 16 tooth away from having a four speed manual. i also have added a quasi-realistic clutch on to it. when i have the gear i need i'll tape it and post it as a video response

    thanks for the inspiration!

  • whats the white axle in the middle? what part # is it? I don't seem to have an axle that long; the longest axle i have only stretches the length of the transmission and yours is a good four studs longer. is it two axles joined together? i dont see any connector pieces or any way you could connect them. please help, thanks!

  • It's 16 studs axle from the Jumping Giant set.

  • ich ahbe auch eins gebaut

  • kannst du instruction machen?

  • Great construction, really small, congratulations. Going to build it right away!

  • I bet you could add a pneumatic cylinders to move that by remote, then you could make some sort of satanic race car with fully capable manual shifting!!!

  • Awesome, im gonna build it soon!

  • Verry nice, and nice music, 5* :)

  • nice! omg i need an instruction xD

  • Hay sir great transmission.

  • Thank you, good sir.

  • Very nice

  • nice i have build him to its funny! :)

  • Loved this tranny and the song, i just built the one you have, and that longg axle has to be precise so it still is in the holes, great enginerning

im making a lego replica of a caterpillar 3508 V-8 and connect the transmission with my 2 street bike tires, which im testing right now,

ill give you the credit of the transmission when i post the video

  • very nice, whats the song?

  • Manson's "Seizure Of Power"

  • cool thanks. have you hooked this gear box up to any mobiles yet? a manual remote control lego car would be insane

  • how you did it????

  • Try watching the video, it really helps.

  • could you give me a link to this model in brickshelf because i can not find it

also if possible very clear pictures would be nice

    thnx

  • Search brickshelf for my username: sariel.

  • ahhh i get it now doh i was searching for searme not sariel

  • do you know what item # the 16 stud axle is?

  • No, but I know you will find it in the Jump
