  • Awesome I like the simple 16th note beat great tip.

  • fuck

  • What should I do if I'm a left-hand, playing in the rite-hand Drumset? I'm learning a lot from you, thank you.

  • dude i thunk you should only need to change your hi hat and snare exactly reversed from right to left to utilize urself being a left handed. . . . =>

  • Lot of thank brain :D, I'm trying this.

  • learn how to play right handed. It will make everything else come easier to you. You really gotta be ambidextrous to be a really awesome drummer.

  • switch two a lefty setup

  • Hey Vans, i got a problem. The 16th notes thing on the hi hi-hats. I lead with my left hand, then drop the left hand onto the snare, tucking it under my right hand when its time to hit the snare. Tried leading with my right, and hitting with my right, but its to uncomfortable, & i stuff the beat up eventually. I was thinking of a remote hi-hat set up, just to the right of the snare, but not a lot of room (8 peice kit). Any tips on this please. P.s. EC2' are great earnt they? Money well spent.

  • I would say that the easiest way to play these is to lead with your right hand. Because of the placement of the 2 & 4 in the groove it is best if played with the right hand. I don't think you'll be happy with a remote Hi-Hat. I have yet to find one that responds good. The cable is always sloppy to me. Try them out and see what you think, or try working the groove while leading with the Right.

  • Hey Van did you ever notice Charlie Watts

always takes his hand away from the hats on the 2 and 4 when he's playing 8th notes? he just plays the 2 and 4 on the snare and only the "ands" of 2 & 4 on the hi hat. weird

  • If you are all LOL'ing at the drumming, perhaps you would do well to check out some of his other vids on here before you make fools out of yourselves. This guy's instructional DVD's are all over the place at music stores and in Modern Drummer. This is an excerpt from a foundational video for beginners.
