People are making comments on here that must have never shot a gun. Your finger doesn't have to be on the trigger for it to discharge. Once you have the slide back, as he demonstrated to the class (presumably to show it was empty) it will fire automatically when the slide is released if there is a round in the chamber. They have an external integrated trigger safety and two automatic internal safeties: a firing pin safety, and a drop safety.The three safety mechanisms are automatically disengaged one after the other when the trigger is squeezed, and are automatically reactivated when the trigger is released.
Because the safety on a Glock is the shooters finger. There is no real safety on a Glock. There is a little lever on the trigger that is pressed in while the shooter fires.

Amen, all ammo in dry fire practice or demos should be cleared in a separate room and left there. Clear multiple times, see daylight through the bore and even insert a safety mechanism into the gun to prevent it from dry firing. Many levels including finger off the trigger. It takes only a few seconds to unload and clear a weapon, and even less to load one. In an emergency, fucking take the 2 seconds to reload it. In order to shoot himself in the foot, he had to break ALL of the most basic, elemental laws of gun safety. Check them off yourself:
(1) All guns are always loaded.
(2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
(3) Keep your finger out of the trigger guard until your sights are on the target and you have decided to shoot.
(4) Be sure of your target as well as the surroundings and beyond.

1) Treat every firearm as if it's always loaded. 2) Do not point the firearm at anything you're not willing to destroy. 3) Know what your target is, and what's beyond it.

They have an external integrated trigger safety and two automatic internal safeties: a firing pin safety, and a drop safety.The three safety mechanisms are automatically disengaged one after the other when the trigger is squeezed, and are automatically reactivated when the trigger is released.
