  • I cant believe that believe are seriously so stupid...first of all, i bartend and i live about 40 minutes from my work. I've never once had a "booty call" but i have gone out to eat after, or played cards, or hell, even got drunk and didn't want to drive. Add to that she has to wait outside in the cold and dark for a train...fuck that. Hello! Girls get attacked in the afternoon, let alone in the middle of the night! I would never wait by myself in the middle of the night for a train!

  • Not using tools to apply my makeup just feels safer sometimes. I have monocular vision so I don't have any depth perception. Sticking a finger with product on it in my eye will hurt and might cause an infection or inflammation but I tend to think it is better than sticking a brush in my eye. Plus, I've never actually managed to stick my finger in my eye.

Those paints look interesting. Thanks for the ideas.

  • I love your hair in this video. Good job!! :)

  • i love the purple lips its very bold

  • if that's a little bit of shimmer i'd hate to see what a lot of shimmer is, lol.

  • Omg leave the girl alone havent you ever seen the midnight meat train HELLO she doesnt wana be killed on the train mmk and fyi she doesnt have to post videos if she doesnt want to shes doing it for free so be happy

  • wow, this is so easy! well done!

  • wow. she's just sharing some make up tips....what's with all the hating?

  • I can for sure relate in my makeup bag I keep a lot of easy no-brush makeup for work cuz Im a waitress and i always wait until the last minute thanks for a idea I wanna try a similar quick look tonight. But I'm scared to use foundation :O never have before

  • The NYC subway system runs 24 hrs a day - 365 days a year. Not being critical, just saying.

  • Sorry hun but I don't do booty calls. Being safe (aka not wanting to take a train at 4am) is hardly an excuse.

  • Yes, the system runs, but they're always working on one line or another on weekends - especially (or so it seemed) in BK. And the last thing I wanted to deal with at 4am is waiting for a damn shuttle bus in 20 degree weather. Just saying.

  • @MakeupByRisa hahhhahahahhaha just saying .. love you <3 your amazing at what you do :)

  • when i'm feeling lazy or in a rush i totally do this too

  • Very pretty, you did it without brushes yay!

  • i like using my fingers because i feel like i have more control and the warmth makes the make up more viable.

  • nice vid

  • amazing!

  • I love the title of this video! Super cute :)

  • didn't cl2425 already do a exact same concept video few days earlier?

  • what does it matter. a bunch of "gurus" made a video about not using brushes.

  • amazing

  • I really need to try out some of illamasque products. What would u recommend?

  • i love using fingers to apply eyshadow, i feel it give me more control of the shape

  • Love this on look. Quick too.

  • Do you happen to have a tong piercing?

  • yep!

  • I like this no nonsense tutorial, and how you use lipstick for blush...awesome:)

  • i really like this look, i love how it's simple but still looks fantastic, although it helps when you are as beautiful as you are! C; But I just have a quick question, is it better to used your fingers rather then sponges?

  • I don't like sponges personally. They can harbor bacteria and I find most people don't just use them once and throw them away. Even if one were to throw them away, application wise, I believe it to be a much cleaner application by using your hands, unless of course you're applying white face makeup - that is probably the only time I'd recommend a sponge over hands or a brush.

  • Thanks so much! That actually helps because I do white make up for a friends video project where most of them are vampires XD

  • In the past, I've felt so guilty because I don't use a foundation brush or sponge, just my fingers. I like that gurus like Risa don't insist on foundation tools; that fingers are okay if you are doing it on yourself as long as you don't tug too hard on your skin. (Causes wrinkles.)

  • love the gingerbread look lol

  • youre getting very creative with your looks. its awesome!

  • Do more like this!

  • i loooove your nail polish!

  • i actually most of my time don`t use any brushes cause i simply don`t have them :D but i`m fine with it an this outcome is quite nice ;)

  • Wow guys... it's makeup, why so angry? I don't think I heard Risa say anything religious at all... why don't you guys IM or something if you feel the need to have a religious discussion? (By the way I agree with Pikapookie)

That said, Love this look! I am always getting up late and having to throw something on quickly, and it doesn't always turn out so great. I am gonna try this! Thanks!

  • wow great tutorial!!!!! i wonder if men really like the natural look better than the completley done look...what do u think Risa???

  • awesome(:

  • very pretty look your face structure is awesome

  • Whoa, wtf, a religion debate on a makeup video? Jeeze, can't get away from that shit anywhere =\

I love this look, &I love how easy it is to do!

  • omg your comment responses are soooo complicated...

I liked it, its true, you dont always need brushes thanks for the tut!!

  • hmm, some heavy duty comments going on but I'm going to keep it light today. Thx for the quick tips. When I'm in a hurry I like picking up eyeshadow with a makeup sponge - you get more color and can put it exactly where you want it. But you need a brush to blend it :) Love your work.

  • Also. i read back on some other comments made about the purple lip color not matching and i dont agree. I think the vibrant color goes well because the eye make up is toned down and pretty simple. and i think thats the point! lol. also, stop posting religious stuff on this page.. wth are you guys doing? rofl

  • i really really like this post!! the finished result looks very clean and almost natural. I especially like how quick it was because i personally dont like to spend too much time "dolling up". lol so thanks!

  • I use my fingers when I am trying to throw on some quickly for a quick dash to the store but I have to agree with "thunderrxx" love the eyes but they conflict with the color on your lips...still pretty look on the eyes though ;-)

  • have you ever worn this look with a nude lip?

  • Personally, no not these exact colors. I've done bluebrown and texture (mac colors) with High Tea lipstick years ago but I'm not generally a nude lipstick wearer. I don't like it. I prefer bold lip colors. Though obviously, it would work with nude.

  • You look so pretty without makeup! It makes your eyes really stand out

  • loves it***

  • you wear fuschia lips quite a lot love though they look great on you lol

  • personally i don't think the purple lipstick goes well with the eyes, otherwise this is really pretty.

  • LOVe that you used your fingers to apply the foundation and eyes. Too many times we are sold on the belief that we have to use brushes all the time to produce a finished look, but (clean) fingers can be the best tools a mua has. I was wondering if you usually do the foundation without primer. Does MUFE wear well without it? Was the moisturizer your primer?

  • I don't use primer on my own skin - just moisturizer - if you want to consider that my primer. On others, depending on skintype I either use Smashbox Photofinish or MAC's Face Primer.

  • What is an HD formula? A lot of brands are making HD foundations, and I've never figured out what they do for your skin.

  • Okay so remember awhile ago they started having HD or High Definition TV and movies? Now they have HD cameras available to the public etc. Well, when they first did that, actors and new people (for example) were horrified because despite makeup they were wearing, the HD showcased every little "flaw" making their pores, wrinkles or any caked on "pancake makeup (that's generally used for film extremely noticeable.Makeup companies starting making makeup products that would work well with HD

  • Thanks!

  • cameras. Most HD makeup formulas contain light diffusing ingredients like mica, crystals, quartz or silicone so it creates the illusion of a more even texture on the skin. They also tend to be more moisturizing which helps the skin be more hydrated so that dry patches are less noticeable. HD powders are much more finely milled than regular powders so the cameras don't pick up on the powder particles.

  • awesome ^^

  • cute! :)

  • I absolutely love that lippy on u! I can't wear that color due 2 the fact that I'm a pale freckle faced red head who could never pull off anything that colorful! But it's smashing on u! I love the old school doubling as blush too, I member watching mom & grammy doing that & forgot about it, thanks for the memories lol. I wish I could use Great Lash Mascara as well, but I have very fine hair, so my eyelashes are as well, so by the end of the day I look like I got punched! lol, *sighs* oh well

  • I agree, her lipstick does look great! She's one of the very few people I've ever seen that can rock a purple lip, and pull it off! Looks great! :)

  • what kind of job do you have that you have to wear makeup to make money?

  • I'm a bartender at a club. I don't HAVE to wear makeup, but I find I make a lot more money when I do.

  • I know this is really a tangent/unrelated, but how is it working as a bartender at a club? I'm job searching like crazy and didn't really think about that until reading your comment here, is it super nerve wrecking or so so?

  • I've been there for 5 years sooooo it can be nerve wrecking in the sense that some people bring with weird energy with them when they come out to drink and it's not always great dealing with drunk people, but the money can be great for working only a few hours a week and it leaves me free time to do other things. Since I've worked there I've held other jobs and gone to school so it's flexible. Plus, it's always easy to get a shift covered and take off for vacation if I want to.

  • i wish those paints were still selling :(

  • they're not?!

  • those are amazing colors for you!!

  • ***** :)

  • Yor nails look great, I know i should have gotten fairy dust from China Glaze when I last ordered online!!! But it's really hard to tell avbout colours on the computer and about how chunky the glitter is, however your nails are just awesome!

  • The ol' lipstick as blush trick! My mom does that most days.

  • At the nd fo the day does her blush still stay on? I use powder nlushes and i have oily skin, but I find that after an hour it is pretty much gone. Most of my blushes are Rimmel - I guess this would make a difference too.

  • cream + powder will give longer staying power ;)

  • Can I just say I am truly sorry about my spelling in the last reply!

  • Pretty :)

  • looking gorgous risa!

    love the pratical look!

  • I love how it looks so blended. Great job Risa!

  • Love the lip! I started my bold lip video series here on YT due in part to your Violetta lipstick!

  • I love this. I always use my fingers for my concealer and foundation application, I think I always will. I just don't like the look I get with a brush on myself.

And for the waterline (I know you're always looking for a good neutral/eye brightening one) I got the Stila Kajal in Topaz and I LOVE IT. It's peachy, so it's not stark white, but still looks natural :)

  • Thanks sweetie. Beautiful as always.

You are a true artisan. I also love how your own

personal style informs all your looks, so that we

feel that we are always getting something special, that

comes from within you. Very generous. Thanks again!

  • Lol @ petrilude?!@9;7@!@?!'vzcjdjcG kvmxmvmxnav. Llvkv

  • Risa, are there any sites that sell that Makeup Forever HD foundation? I can't see any place in Toronto, ON (Canada) that carries it and it really has a nice finish to it.

  • You can try the MUFE website, I think you can buy stuff from there. Also google has a nice shopping feature that will show where you can buy it.

  • Ok I'll check that out. Thanks for the tip!

  • @nataliemedia Sephora does! i live in toronto too! there's one at Eatons, Yorkdale, & Fairview! :D

  • Ahhh awesome. I will check the one out at Eatons! Phew!

  • Ha Ha, loved this vid Risa. Hope you feel 100% very soon!

  • very nice.

  • I thought of not using brushes this morning when I found the only tool I had with me at my boyfriends house was an old sponge tip applicator that I refused to use. I gave in, but then decided to throw it away! Whoever thought up the idea of sponge tip applicators was out of their mind!

  • Love this. I would've put a little black or brown eyeliner between my lower lashes and maybe filled in the brows but I think you look great!

  • WOW It has been forever thank you so much for doing another tutorial... it is refreshing to watch your videos, sometimes i feel myself wanting to be more true to myself, just because it seems you are so true to yourself.... i want you to know i love love your videos you are so talented... thank you :)

  • you seem to love that lipstick! it looks like you are always wearing it

  • Show Orchid is actually the one I'm always wearing. I rotate between that, violetta and either glam or roccoco - though it's show orchid 85% of the time. ;)

  • oh awesome! I love it although I could never pull off those kind of colors like you can.

  • "at work i need makeup, to make money" I knew it, you're a strippper! ;)

  • well ya know, my wallet is stacked with tons of $1's ;)

  • love. I can use this ...makeup in a rush

  • I can't believe you use great lash mascara!

I have gotten into the habit of doing looks without brushes as well. It can be really convenient if your brushes aren't clean or if you're in a pinch!

Also, I am totally addicted to Violetta lipstick thanks to you ;)

  • love this look :)

  • Sweet video!

  • i love your hair

  • god gave us the hands they are the best tools!!

  • actually, your mother and father gave you your hands. not god.

  • Agree totally, Pikapookie! Heck, God is even the one that gives us the mother and father, too!

  • You know, not everyone has the same views on religion... Believe it or not, some of us do not believe in god, and we aren't evil and stupid people. And no, I am not going to hell, cause this is just fairy tales! You can't blame me for saying this, cause you seem to think that your beliefs are facts. When they are everything BUT facts :)

  • Every other sentence starts with "The Bible says..." And I don't agree with that. In my opinion, yes, there is a God, but it doesn't mean that you can't believe there isn't one. I don't think you'll go to "hell" because you don't think there is a god. We all have different views on this, and that is how society is supposed to be. Many disagreements opens our eyes to people that have different minds. We don't all have to think the same, and if you don't think there is a god then more power to you

  • I really like your views and think that you have spoken wonderfully. I myself do not believe in god and it's so nice to hear someone that is religious but is not trying to ram religion down my throat. I completely respect peoples religions and I am touched to hear someone who doesn't think I crazy for not having one. I don't like to share my views with my friend as they are all very religious but your kind words have inspired me to speak out.

  • I was just telling papashayyy that no, our parents didn't give us hands. I was telling him/her that something with a greater power chooses whether or not we have disabilities. If I was deaf, or blind, thats not my mother or fathers fault. If I didn't have hands, or feet, or 10 fingers and 10 toes, that wouldn't be my mother or father's fault. Do you understand what I'm going at, here? The point I'm trying to make is that our parents don't choose how we will be born.

  • We come from our mothers stomach. genes make up who we are. and disabilities are not given to us by god, sorry. Our parents have sex. and we are made. My brother has a mental disability, and he has that disability because he came out of my mothers womb the wrong way, and the umbilical chord was wrapped around his neck. God did not do that to him. It's just what happened. I respect your views. But that's how I view it, and I don't really care what you think.

  • Brothers' disability.

  • I cannot say you are right, you cannot say I am wrong. Cause we don't know. What I am 100% certain is that there IS a truth, something, somewhere, but no one really knows. it could be anything... Something you can't even think of. It's ok you know... Humans tend to explain things they cannot understand with religion. But hey, we will never know till we die.

  • I perfectly understand that-- We will not know until we die. Yes, we do all have our views, and they're not all the same, and thats fine. I perfectly agree with you, when you say that there is a truth, and I wish there was some way for all of us to come back when we die and tell everyone what that truth is.
